There have been a lot of college 2B overdrafted recently and none have come close to justifing their draft position. Will Bazzana and Wetherholt buck that trend. I have serious doubts.

I don't think they can wait a month. They have him on a pitch count so he's winding down. If they don't sign him to an extension which seems unlikely they have to move him soon. The clock is ticking.

They don't have to be god awful the next few years and the way to do that is to get rid of the god awful players. They will still get a good return and will have money to spend on free agents. They could also get creative in trades like the Michael Busch trade they weren't in position to make last off season. I get you want the shiney new things but getting rid of the shitty old things is the way to get better faster.

It's fun to say but there is no way Reinsdorf is gonna eat $50M. Maybe he'll eat some to get a better player back. I mean he has to have a little skin in the game for letting Hahn/Haber completely destroy his organization but it's just not realistic to think he's gonna eat it all.

Why not? They'll have money to spend with Moncada, Eloy and maybe Robert (among others) off the books and if they don't get Benintendi's money off the books now they'll just keep playing him to the bitter end just like they did with Grandal. He's not going to sit making that kind of money. They have to do it now.

It would be for the better. They have an opportunity to get out from under a god awful contract and they have to take it. They didn't get out from under Grandal's horrific contract and he weighed the team down to the very end. It was a total disaster and the same thing will happen with Benintendi unless they do something about it now.

I think it's changed. I think they were hoping for a bigger pool of players to chose from but that pool is smaller than expected.

He has the best chance to be the highest impact player in the draft. If he's there it's a no brainer.

Hopefully Sosa is next.

Managing is a lot easier when you have a stacked roster full of cheaters.
