Jerry Reinsdorf is cheap
All still very doable.

Madrigal 3000 hits "very reachable"
Most of his career will be in the first or second spot IMO. Ninth is great as he gets acclimated, however.
-
The Wainwright to the Cards Thread
The FO is also very tight-lipped and I can't picture RH leaning over the backyard fence giving out tomorrow's headlines. What the FO want's out is what gets out IMO.

Dodgers sign Bauer (3/102, opt-outs, 40-45-17)
What if we are way into it up to our necks and that's why everything is so quiet and on the hush-hush? Our FO likes to be stealthy on these things.?

If you don't think you can do it...you probably can't. I love his belief in himself.

MLB 2020-21 off season catch all
Wainwright and Molina would make me happy at this point.
-
The Wainwright to the Cards Thread
I like Wainwright better than Gray and he doesn't cost prospects.

MLB 2020-21 off season catch all
I think he took his best offer.

La Stella to the Giants
I am not the only one on Soxtalk that realizes Madrigal is going to be something special. Just the most vocal.

Hector wrong. Again. - Cruz back with Min
If I was a betting man...that would be the smart money bet.

Hector wrong. Again. - Cruz back with Min
Doesn't seem to me that he wants to go back to Japan. Just another negotiating ploy to show he has options. I bet your 1 year/$15 mill would get it done.

If we are to believe that there is a hard spending freeze above a certain limit...I can see Collins, Yermin, and Vaughn being used to free up as much money as possible for the one glaring need...PITCHING.
-
Hector wrong. Again. - Cruz back with Min
Spend the money on pitching. Yermin Mercedes is a very satisfactory player to plug into the DH slot until Vaughn is ready. I would be very interested to find out if we have something in Yermin.

Fegan Nuggets: Collins, Sheets, Burdi, Lambert
I was thinking the same thing. Future looking bright.

Starting to look like lots of insulation will be available as rosters are filling up nearing ST.

Hector wrong. Again. - Cruz back with Min
I am done with reclamation projects. Spend the money on pitching.

La Stella to the Giants
I've stated the same sentiment more than once. Not feeling like that is very likely anymore, however. Bauer or Tanaka would help this team in a big way. Still hoping to be happily surprised every time I come to this site.

La Stella to the Giants
I am putting an inordinate amount of faith in Katz being a miracle worker. The FO has grown tired of having seemingly talented prospects like Cease & Lopez go nowhere. I think it's probable someone like Wainwright will be signed but I am disappointed we don't aim a bit higher. I try to remember it ain't over until the fat lady sings.

La Stella to the Giants
I have to say...the pickings are getting mighty slim.

Aaron Bummer will be '100% ready for opening day' even though we knew that, according to Merk
He's a beast! One of our most important guys to stay healthy.
-
La Stella to the Giants
Why is it that when a rumor breaks that a player is signing for some other team...that rumor is confirmed with the player signing within that day? When it's a WS rumor it goes on for months and dies a slow and painful death.

Trade Whispers - Starting Pitchers
I have only used the like and/or love emoji. The laughing emoji never occurred to me as anything other than ...you made me laugh. I have to admit that your middle finger emoji has real possibilities, however.

Dodgers sign Bauer (3/102, opt-outs, 40-45-17)
That ain't going to happen IMO.
-
Dodgers sign Bauer (3/102, opt-outs, 40-45-17)
In my wild mind, I have been thinking...what if Bauer has a best offer of 5 years at 25 million per year. RH comes along and offers 2 years at 30 million. Bauer seems the type to bet on himself and JR is satisfied to avoid long-term risk. Not likely perhaps but not impossible.

Hector wrong. Again. - Cruz back with Min
And he squashed those hopes and dreams with conviction.
