  1. They compromised...shows everyone is willing to find a middle ground.
  2. Interested to get this resolved. I for one have an overly optimistic attitude for what Katz can do. Also, a drop-dead bullpen coupled with an explosive lineup can hide a multitude of sins.?
  3. There is a school of thought that Katz can fix Cease and Lopez along with Kopech coming along in short order. Especially with the deep bullpen we now have. Five quality innings and turn it over to the pen. I like all Sox fans would prefer we sign TOR type and remove all doubt.
  4. Today would be an excellent day for this deal to go down.
  5. One more quality starter is a luxury...but what the heck...it would make for a fun season.
  6. Yep...I keep telling you guys those .340 hitters are easy to find.
  7. I don't think there is any way Hahn doesn't make an offer.
  8. At the time surely all WS fans were convinced that was how it would have played out.
  9. Seems like a sensible solution. Paul Konerko & Mike Cameron were swapped as disappointments to their clubs only to launch them to very good careers. I would take a shot on Benintendi. A change of environment might do both a world of good.
  10. Well...it's hard to know. The incomes of the teams you mention are considerably greater than ours. I imagine he would have corresponding more money.
  11. Where does Vaughn play if you move Eloy to DH?
  12. Yep...I've been a fan since 1955 when I was 10 years old. Don't feel bad about that brain cramp...I get lots of those. To answer your question...yes, I remember all those players and situations. Funny how life goes on whether they are good moves or bad moves. Just like now, every move seemed earth-shatteringly important.
  13. Every club is interested at a price. I wonder what price separates the buyers from the scavengers?
  14. He would sure fit our situation better than many with his potential. RH is very good at finding a way to satisfy individual contract desires with clubs' needs. I would think 5-7 with some inventive bonus structure. The fact that we will be a championship type club will put us ahead of many on the list of interested clubs.
  15. I imagine it just depends on how badly we need a Burnes vs the value we place on Madrigal and Heuer on the current roster along with the future of Kelley and Stiever. Since we can find adequate #4 from the list you mention...I wouldn't be inclined to make that trade. Our 4 guys are all cheap with lots of upsides as is Burnes. It's doesn't have the advantage in unloading expensive vets for a young gun. I do understand some of you think nothing of Madrigal but we will just continue to disagree on that one.
  16. I was asked which of those players had the "potential" to be all-stars. I of course don't believe they "will" all be all-stars. As so often happens here on Soxtalk...an innocent remark is taken way too seriously and back and forth we go.
  17. This is where most of us are as well I would think. Another pitcher would be great but not essential. We would like some clarity on the backup catcher and DH. I still am hopeful that JR has a big surprise up his sleeve but we shall see.
  18. That was in my first answer to the question being asked. You just focused on the first part of my answer instead of the entire answer.
  19. Nope...it means what I said. "I am not anxious to trade prospects when similar guys are available in FA."
  20. If the young guys develop under Katz as we hope...we are going to have some very nice problems to have.
  21. I think it is clear that JR is in the buy mode. If we only discuss what we know for sure...these pages will be very quiet.
  22. I know! More fun to be optimistic though.
