Sox sign Hendriks: 3/$39M - 4th year optional with $15M buyout
RH is a clever guy. The 54 million is being reported as the largest guaranteed contract as yet this offseason. Glad that we can dispense with all the "JR is cheap" talk.

Foodies: Sox/Giolito discussing an extension?????
I 100% agree with everything said here. Extending Gio would be every bit as big of a deal as the Hendriks signing IMO.

Leave it to Rick Hahn to be creative. Love getting Hendriks but he ain't cheap.☺️

Article: If Owners don't want the best players, then what's the point?
I was actually surprised more forum members didn't take the bait.

Article: If Owners don't want the best players, then what's the point?
My point is that only one player (Babe Ruth) made more than the President at that time. Now the minimum wage for all major league players ($507,500) is above the POTUS salary of $400,000.

Article: If Owners don't want the best players, then what's the point?
It was shocking to the public that Babe Ruth made more than the President of the US. Now the baseball minimum wage is $507.5 thousand. Is it any wonder people can't afford to attend games with $10 beers, $4 hot dogs, and $25 parking? I don't blame the owner or the player...I think the fan has to say no to buying the ticket.

Dodgers sign Bauer (3/102, opt-outs, 40-45-17)
Rick Hahn loves creative incentive base contracts and Bauer seems the type to bet on himself. They just may find a way to get together.

Madrigal could be ready for opening day
Most of us realize he came up to the big club on a fast track. Stealing bases is more than raw speed (timing the pitcher and getting a jump) and we know he won a minor league gold glove in his short minor league career. All in all, I am delighted in his overall first appearances. Going to be getting nothing but better with time.

MLB 2020-21 off season catch all
Dodged that bullet.

Dodgers sign Bauer (3/102, opt-outs, 40-45-17)
Yep...Kluber & Paxton are both a step ahead of Q in my mind. I would settle for any of the three.

Madrigal could be ready for opening day
Scotty Pods wasn't close to Madrigal in the BA department. My point was small-ball players can be key people on good teams.

MLB 2020-21 off season catch all
Kind of like our own Gordon Beckham. Looked great when he came up...then nothing.

Katz on our Pitcher Progress Summary
I hope he convinces Lopez to work faster. With a runner on...he looks afraid to throw the ball. Needs some eye of the Tiger aggression.
-
Madrigal could be ready for opening day
Yet..but I really was referring to small ball type of players.
-
Madrigal could be ready for opening day
People forget how valuable Scotty Pods was to the 2005 effort. Madrigal is the same type of player only better.

Madrigal could be ready for opening day
We all should be.☺️

MLB 2020-21 off season catch all
I said that I wish we could have him...not that I thought they would make an effort.
-
MLB 2020-21 off season catch all
Yeah...I know. I am one of the people who wanted both Grandal & McCann. Still like two strong catchers.

MLB 2020-21 off season catch all
I know it's not us...but I wish it was. Contreras is good.

Kyle Schwarber signs with Nationals: 1 year 10mil
I know our lineup construction will be much improved with TL. Not to worry!

MLB 2020-21 off season catch all
Appreciably more than I thought he would get. No interest from me at that price.

Katz on our Pitcher Progress Summary
Kopech is a good candidate for guidance as well.

Dodgers sign Bauer (3/102, opt-outs, 40-45-17)
I wouldn't be shocked if we were a late entry into the Bauer bidding. The market would appear to be much less than at first expected.

Old: Mega Hendriks Speculation Thread
I trust RH to make a reasonable offer. If the ask is out of line... we will and should walk away.

Old: Mega Hendriks Speculation Thread
That's only 3 teams you rank "better" than us. That makes the window open.☺️
