Bauer & Springer are the two top FA available. Given my druthers...I would take Bauer but either improve the team hugely IMO.

If TL is going to be with us... I don't want his input into player acquisition. Make out the lineup card and handle in-game situations. I don't want him dealing with player acquisitions that will be affecting us long after he has left town. A coach or two of his choosing is fine with me but that's about it.

I would not be surprised if JR broke the bank for one of Bauer or Springer. Can't think of a better way to take the heat off the current TL problem. Prices might be very reasonable as well.

Jerry has been a good owner IMO because of the family feel in both the organization and the park. Players and fans seem to have a good time at the park. Unless we get an ultra-rich billionaire owner...any group buying the club will run it in a fiscally responsible way. The poorer the group the more they use Veeck's rent a player philosophy. Fans love these all-in mega-deal opportunities that become available every year. A typical ownership group would not be willing to gamble with these all or nothing moves. Given these realities, I believe JR has built some good clubs and some not-so-good clubs. I've been entertained through most of it, however. I am turned off by this TL situation but like all of us...JR can make mistakes. This is a mistake born out of loyalty to his friend... no ill will to the fans. I wish he would fix this situation but I'll enjoy next season no matter what he does.

I just can't believe an official FO statement is not forthcoming. If they say Tony is the manager end of the subject... we can get back to coach and player questions. This is not a very professional way of handling this situation. It will fester for days at this rate.

The heat is up dramatically in the last two days. I understand the FO was aware of the DUI before now...but probably thought it would go unnoticed. It a different today as it has become big-time news. My question to Dick Allen was has the FO made comments in the last two days.

Every day that this carries on...good coaches are potentially signed elsewhere. Management needs to dump TL or say he's the man. To say nothing should not be an option.
