  1. AJ would have the best of both worlds...good and evil.
  2. I obviously know that the 29 teams don't all want him. If one or two of those 29 teams want him we now have to out bid the competition if we want to retain his services. I thought that was self explanatory.
  3. Best outcome for all concerned is Jose signs a two or three year extension for 12-14 million per. His replacement is a year and a half away from ready. Why put ourselves in position to need yet another position filled. Reed is most definitely not the answer. Give Jose a fair offer like I suggest and move on to the clubs real needs.
  4. I care about having the right manager and coaching staff to get it done.
  5. Bidding against 29 other teams is not the way to keep Abreu at a bargain price.
  6. The AAA hitting coach must have straighten him out.
  7. I wonder if we have been underestimating Nova...he's look really good lately. The Twinks are not easy to contain like he's doing tonight.
  8. He could have been a 30 homer 30 stolen bases guy if he chose to. More likely if RR let him.
  9. Then he better be extended. Ending up empty handed is just nuts.
  10. Probably best to not know the names. The forums would go nuts for 5 days of speculation and if nothing happened the depression would settle in for the next month.
  11. I thought one deadline would create activity off the chart. Maybe it's still happening. Sellers waiting til the last minute in order to make sure of maximum return. For example: Colome type has value to virtually any contender. When does RH know he's received his best offer? I guess on the July 31st.
  12. That would definitely not be me. I think 3 years at 5 million is what he would get on the open market. He is very decent catcher and a good mentor for our young team. Just the type of veteran player to have around the young guys. Seems to be a class act.
  13. I agree. How long are fans going to bring the kids to the park to watch blowout after blowout. It's not entertaining. What the Twinks are doing with the homers and winning is very good for building their long term fan base. Let's not prolong this rebuild any longer than necessary.
  14. Very much so I'm afraid. They better enjoy it while they can. Not long now til we are a force to be reckoned with. I hope!?
  15. I've noticed that some younger people engage in attack & name calling tactics when their positions are questioned.?
  16. I agree...they need to identify the targets and get a move on. Especially don't want to get caught up in Cole while passing on other viable options. Sign em when you can. It's easy to get sucked into chasing rainbows with the premium FA while missing out on very acceptable players. I like using free agency for plugging holes like our RF situation. Stars need to be home grown or traded for IMO.
  17. He has had a tendency to have a bad inning early. He does seem to bounce back. All part of the learning curve. That's why I'm glad he's up now...getting his major league intro when results don't matter.
  18. Cease got a little more major league experience. Looked OK except for the one big inning. Glad he's getting his feet wet when the W/L isn't important. Engel hit a HR so kids got to cheer fireworks. I just wish we wouldn't get behind so fast in every game. Is isn't interesting.
  19. I respect that Trout didn't need to check out free agency in case a dime slipped under the table. I got hooked on baseball when kids had their Mr. Cub and Mantle was a Yank not a Dodger. I'm surprised baseball still has fans with all the player movement. When ownership didn't retain Bobby Hull...I was off hockey for 20 years. Oh yes...AARP is a fraud and I'm not a member.?
  20. If that's the case...it should be the team we dealt with that let's him walk. No one will be giving him a qualifying offer IMO. We might be getting him back in the off season for single digits. Stranger things have happened.
  21. I don't at all think a FA needs to sign for less money although considerations such as climate, near friends and family, etc. can be in play. Also, there are places I wouldn't want to live...in my case N.Y. My primary gripe is with current players who leave for the highest bidder via free agency rather than work a deal out with their current club. Lot's of people work where they are comfortable and feel appreciated rather than the place down the block that pays more. Fans give their allegiance to players and I like that loyalty returned to the fans. At some level I don't have a lot of sympathy for a guy with 100 million really needs to go because someone offered 105 million. I understand the other side of the issue...just not my style.
  22. This is why I hate Boris clients. It's always about I ….never team.
  23. He's actually been quite reliable with that.
