  1. not true. lot of people live thinking what is good for others. Now, I know, holy Jesus, who would believe that, let alone teach it. I might recommend Victor Frankel's book about the search for meaning in life, but, the hell with it, it is too inconvenient to me to do that
  2. so akid gets 10 years for consensual sex - and trust me guys, if she says ok and she turns out to be under 16, it could be your ass in jail - its rape by statute - we have a case right now, and she looked 18 to me, and Mom allowed it to happen over several weeks in Mom's home - but the girl was really only 15 - so even with consent and Mom allowing, it is statutory rape and we are trying to plea bargain to under a year - then again, there is the federal requirement (waiting for all the Republicans, hi Mr Eye, to denounce this as intrusion into the states governing, then expalin No Child Left Behind where the Bush administration lays commandments on the states as if one size fits all and supplies no money to pay for it - a pretty huge unfunded federal mandate) that anyone convicted of a sexual offense be listed oin the inetrnet for 25 years as a sexual offender - which lumps your consensual sex guys in with child molestors and rapists - and after you serve your sentence, you will still be on the internet to ruin all your job chances - meanwhile today former Republican governor and just resigned Republican congressman from South dakota Jangkow (spelling) ran over a motorcycle rider in his car, killed the rider, claimed it wasn't his fault because he missed a meal, got convicted anyway of 2nd degree manslaughter, and with a long, long record of taffic offenses and many more he got off from because he was governor and congresman, and was sentenced to............. 100 days. I have been stunned those who complained the Ligue's didn't get sentenced to enough time, those who made fun of, mocked, the Ligues, haven't been all over the dear republican congressman on this one. Fair, fair?
  3. Honesty? You say that is if your virtue was challenged. It isn't and wasn't. What I ask is if all of your thinking about things begins and ends with what is convenient for you.
  4. that may be a cool thing to say with all the guys, ha ha ha, lets rip on jersey, but it is not reality how many millions of people live there and call it home New Jersey was the home to a team that has had some real success in the recent past and has fans very devoted to its team how many people would say Chicago sucks as a rule insulting New Jersey doesn't change the facts a change of ownership may bring nothing good and people with massive new york real estate holdings who buy a sports franchise are buying it for their reasons, not yours, not mine, not ours, but for their own reasons those who ignore reality will get it handed back to them
  5. give Jas a magazine with full glossy pictures of Jessica Simpson or whatever her name is and he will forget all about Mondesi.
  6. those hoping Trump buys the Sox are really foolish. (That is the nicest way I can phrase that, because the thought scares me so much. Sorry to any offended.) The dude buying the Nets - moving them to Brooklyn. Too bad New Jersey fans. Since everything that Trump has is in NY - since his whole life is in NY - except for the stray casino or building - why would anyone not picture Trump moving the Sox to NY so he could go head to head with Streinbrenner in THEIR town. They don't sing Chicago, Chicago, they sing New York, New York. Trump has no loyalty here. Everything he cares about is in NY. It didn't take the Nets 3 hours to be moved after they were bought. Those who ignore reality will get it handed to them.
  7. I could live with that trade the odds of a 4 team trade happening are just like my odds of winning 4 keno games in a row
  8. I haven't missed an opening day in years however - tax season is tax season and either I get every client's stuff to the tax preparer and back and filed before 13 April or opening day will be a day trip and nothing else for for my other career, the real vocation , at least we don't open until after Easter so I won't be missing any games because of Holy Week or Easter!!!! those 2:00 Sunday games, I am not happy about - that is a 3:00 start by my time, which means I will get home one hour later and not be able to make the kennel by 8 ever again which means I don't get the dogs until Monday and have to pay a days worth of extra boarding fees every home weekend
  9. don't the people who make the schedules understand some of us work??????

The White Sox open the season on a six-game road trip to Kansas City and the New York Yankees before playing their home opener on Tuesday, April 13 vs. the Royals (1:05 p.m.). Sunday afternoon games at U.S. Cellular Field will begin at 2:05 p.m. this season, with the first Sunday home game scheduled for April 25 vs. Tampa Bay. "Our fans indicated that a little later start time on Sunday would provide a real benefit to their schedules," said Rob Gallas, White Sox senior vice president of marketing and broadcasting. "Moving the games back one hour gives people additional time for their Sunday morning activities, lunch and then the trip to the ballpark." After the Central Division-rival Royals visit U.S. Cellular Field for a three-game, home-opening series (April 13-15), the Sox travel to Tampa Bay (April 16-18) for three games before returning home for a 12-game homestand against the Yankees (April 20-22), Tampa Bay (April 23-25), Cleveland (April 27-28) and Toronto (April 29-May 2). The Sox are home for 15 of 18 games from April 13-May 2 and 13 of 16 games from August 6-22. The crosstown-rival White Sox and Cubs again play home-and-home series in 2004. The Sox host the Cubs for a three-game weekend series June 25-27 (start times of 3:05 p.m., 3:05 and 2:05), and travel to Wrigley Field for a three-game series over the Fourth of July holiday weekend (July 2-4). Other than the two series with the Cubs, the Sox face National League East competition in interleague play for the second time in three years, including a series against the World Champion Florida Marlins. The Sox, who are 66-55 all-time in interleague action, are scheduled to play the following six series against N.L. foes in 2004: vs. Philadelphia (June 8-10), vs. Atlanta (June 11-13), at Florida (June 15-17), at Montreal (June 18-20), vs. the Cubs (June 25-27) and at the Cubs (July 2-4). The White Sox were 10-8 in interleague competition in 2003. The Sox are home for 13 weekends in 2004, facing Tampa Bay (April 23-25), Toronto (April 29-May 2), Minnesota (May 14-16), Anaheim (May 28-30), Atlanta (June 11-13), the Cubs (June 25-27), Seattle (July 9-11), Detroit (July 23-25), Cleveland (August 6-9), Boston (August 20-22), Seattle (September 3-5), Detroit (September 17-19) and the final regular-season home series vs. Kansas City (September 23-26). The White Sox conclude the regular season with a six-game trip to Detroit (September 27-29) and Kansas City (September 30-October 3). A complete radio and television broadcast schedule will be released when available. -MORE- White Sox 2004 Regular-Season Schedule All times Central; all game times subject to change Date Opponent Time Date Opponent Time 4/5 at Kansas City 2:10 p.m. 7/9 SEATTLE 7:05 p.m. 4/7 at Kansas City 1:10 p.m. 7/10 SEATTLE 6:05 p.m. 4/8 at NY Yankees 6:05 p.m. 7/11 SEATTLE TBA 4/9 at NY Yankees 3:05 p.m. 4/10 at NY Yankees 12:05 p.m. 7/13 ALL-STAR GAME in Houston 4/11 at NY Yankees 12:05 p.m. 4/13 KANSAS CITY 1:05 p.m. 7/15 at Oakland 9:05 p.m. 4/14 KANSAS CITY 1:05 p.m. 7/16 at Oakland 8:05 p.m. 4/15 KANSAS CITY 1:05 p.m. 7/17 at Oakland 3:05 p.m. 4/16 at Tampa Bay 6:15 p.m. 7/18 at Oakland 3:05 p.m. 4/17 at Tampa Bay 5:15 p.m. 7/19 at Texas 7:05 p.m. 4/18 at Tampa Bay 12:15 p.m. 7/20 at Texas 7:05 p.m. 4/20 NY YANKEES 7:05 p.m. 7/21 at Cleveland 6:05 p.m. 4/21 NY YANKEES 7:05 p.m. 7/22 at Cleveland 6:05 p.m. 4/22 NY YANKEES 7:05 p.m. 7/23 DETROIT 7:05 p.m. 4/23 TAMPA BAY 7:05 p.m. 7/24 DETROIT 6:05 p.m. 4/24 TAMPA BAY 1:05 p.m. 7/25 DETROIT 2:05 p.m. 4/25 TAMPA BAY 2:05 p.m. 7/26 MINNESOTA 7:05 p.m. 4/27 CLEVELAND 7:05 p.m. 7/27 MINNESOTA 7:05 p.m. 4/28 CLEVELAND 1:05 p.m. 7/28 MINNESOTA 1:05 p.m. 4/29 TORONTO 7:05 p.m. 7/29 at Detroit 12:05 p.m. 4/30 TORONTO 7:05 p.m. 7/30 at Detroit 6:05 p.m. 5/1 TORONTO 6:05 p.m. 7/31 at Detroit 6:05 p.m. 5/2 TORONTO 2:05 p.m. 8/1 at Detroit 12:05 p.m. 5/3 at Baltimore 6:05 p.m. 8/3 at Kansas City 7:10 p.m. 5/4 at Baltimore 6:05 p.m. 8/4 at Kansas City 7:10 p.m. 5/5 at Baltimore 6:05 p.m. 8/5 at Kansas City 7:10 p.m. 5/7 at Toronto 6:05 p.m. 8/6 CLEVELAND 7:05 p.m. 5/8 at Toronto 12:05 p.m. 8/7 CLEVELAND 6:05 p.m. 5/9 at Toronto 12:05 p.m. 8/8 CLEVELAND 2:05 p.m. 5/11 BALTIMORE 7:05 p.m. 8/9 CLEVELAND 7:05 p.m. 5/12 BALTIMORE 7:05 p.m. 8/10 KANSAS CITY 7:05 p.m. 5/13 BALTIMORE 1:05 p.m. 8/11 KANSAS CITY 7:05 p.m. 5/14 MINNESOTA 7:05 p.m. 8/12 KANSAS CITY 1:05 p.m. 5/15 MINNESOTA 6:05 p.m. 8/13 at Boston 6:05 p.m. 5/16 MINNESOTA 2:05 p.m. 8/14 at Boston 6:05 p.m. 5/17 at Cleveland 6:05 p.m. 8/15 at Boston 1:05 p.m. 5/18 at Cleveland 6:05 p.m. 8/17 DETROIT 7:05 p.m. 5/19 at Cleveland 6:05 p.m. 8/18 DETROIT 7:05 p.m. 5/21 at Minnesota 7:10 p.m. 8/19 DETROIT 7:05 p.m. 5/22 at Minnesota 6:10 p.m. 8/20 BOSTON 7:05 p.m. 5/23 at Minnesota 1:10 p.m. 8/21 BOSTON 12:05 p.m. 5/24 at Minnesota 12:10 p.m. 8/22 BOSTON TBA 5/25 TEXAS 7:05 p.m. 8/23 at Detroit 6:05 p.m. 5/26 TEXAS 7:05 p.m. 8/24 at Detroit 6:05 p.m. 5/27 TEXAS 7:05 p.m. 8/25 at Detroit 6:05 p.m. 5/28 ANAHEIM 7:05 p.m. 8/26 at Cleveland 6:05 p.m. 5/29 ANAHEIM 6:05 p.m. 8/27 at Cleveland 6:05 p.m. 5/30 ANAHEIM 2:05 p.m. 8/28 at Cleveland 12:05 p.m. 6/1 at Oakland 9:05 p.m. 8/29 at Cleveland 12:05 p.m. 6/2 at Oakland 2:35 p.m. 8/31 OAKLAND 7:05 p.m. 6/4 at Seattle 9:05 p.m. 9/1 OAKLAND 7:05 p.m. 6/5 at Seattle 3:05 p.m. 9/2 OAKLAND 1:05 p.m. 6/6 at Seattle 7:05 p.m. 9/3 SEATTLE 7:05 p.m. 6/8 PHILADELPHIA 7:05 p.m. 9/4 SEATTLE 6:05 p.m. 6/9 PHILADELPHIA 7:05 p.m. 9/5 SEATTLE 2:05 p.m. 6/10 PHILADELPHIA 7:05 p.m. 9/6 at Texas 1:05 p.m. 6/11 ATLANTA 7:05 p.m. 9/7 at Texas 7:05 p.m. 6/12 ATLANTA 6:05 p.m. 9/8 at Texas 7:05 p.m. 6/13 ATLANTA 2:05 p.m. 9/9 at Texas 7:05 p.m. 6/15 at Florida 6:05 p.m. 9/10 at Anaheim 9:05 p.m. 6/16 at Florida 6:05 p.m. 9/11 at Anaheim 9:05 p.m. 6/17 at Florida 6:05 p.m. 9/12 at Anaheim 3:05 p.m. 6/18 at Montreal 6:05 p.m. 9/14 at Minnesota 7:10 p.m. 6/19 at Montreal 6:05 p.m. 9/15 at Minnesota 7:10 p.m. 6/20 at Montreal 12:05 p.m. 9/16 at Minnesota 7:10 p.m. 6/21 CLEVELAND 7:05 p.m. 9/17 DETROIT 7:05 p.m. 6/22 CLEVELAND 7:05 p.m. 9/18 DETROIT 6:05 p.m. 6/23 CLEVELAND 7:05 p.m. 9/19 DETROIT 2:05 p.m. 6/24 CLEVELAND 1:05 p.m. 9/20 MINNESOTA 7:05 p.m. 6/25 CUBS 3:05 p.m. 9/21 MINNESOTA 7:05 p.m. 6/26 CUBS 3:05 p.m. 9/22 MINNESOTA 7:05 p.m. 6/27 CUBS 2:05 p.m. 9/23 KANSAS CITY 7:05 p.m. 6/29 at Minnesota 7:10 p.m. 9/24 KANSAS CITY 7:05 p.m. 6/30 at Minnesota 7:10 p.m. 9/25 KANSAS CITY TBA 7/1 at Minnesota 12:10 p.m. 9/26 KANSAS CITY 2:05 p.m. 7/2 at Cubs 1:20 p.m. 9/27 at Detroit 6:05 p.m. 7/3 at Cubs 12:05 p.m. 9/28 at Detroit 6:05 p.m. 7/4 at Cubs 1:20 p.m. 9/29 at Detroit 6:05 p.m. 7/6 ANAHEIM 7:05 p.m. 9/30 at Kansas City 7:10 p.m. 7/7 ANAHEIM 7:05 p.m. 10/1 at Kansas City 7:10 p.m. 7/8 ANAHEIM 1:05 p.m. 10/2 at Kansas City 6:10 p.m. 10/3 at Kansas City 1:10 p.m. -30- © 2004 Chicago White Sox
  11. that is unkind to snakes and I hope you meant to say that regarding rocks, they were the kind of rocks that just lay there on the field rather than the type of rocks that move on occasion, such as in an avalanche or something only thing DLo did was introduce us all to Sean Paul's music
  12. very Mies van der Roh - less is more - so understated - a simple blue bar as banner - rather post modernist, reductionist if you ask me - a kind of deconstruction of the concept of banner - the root essential - I like it! not such John Cage composed 4:32 has a work of such artisitic simplicity been so complex and made such a statement! good work, whoever deconsctructed our banner!!!!!!!! (this is not in green because it is not sarcastic - I know the banner is under reconstruction but I am celebrating the artistic statement that exists now!)
  13. we have a closer. what else do you want to know?????
  14. please give an example of a FOUNDED criticism of StJosE6
  15. that is not criminalization, that is all civil suits, totally separate - and I thought the civil suits were filed by various states' attorney generals as far as the health damage we all pay for - we all pay a lot for fat people, and for people with horrible chorlesterol because of the crap junk and fast fod they eat - go to any ic unit and find the heart surgery patients we all pay for because they ate the wrong things - ha ha ha to placing a huge surtax on oreos to cover increased medicare and medicaid and private health insurance costs and public employee health insurance costs because people eat crap like that which clogs their arteries and strains their heart with the extra weight the body has to carry - costs the same or higher for tobacco related health issues I am not posing answers, just questions for the debate - distinguish between powder cocaine and crack and discuss what crystal meth is doing to people - other than teach bad science - why should any prescription drugs be illegal for anyone if street drugs are decriminalized isn't it great that ectasy (of course, illegal) and its friends have made young 20 something males the most avid group of purchasers for blackmarket viagra so they can try to get it up while drugging at what point does the pouring of pharmacuticals into the body tell su there should be some cautions? is the answer to street drugs not in decriminalization or legalizing but making them controleld substances that a doctor can prescribe so there are some controls on something somewhere when the hell do people who eat crap and junk and fast food admit they are the ones contibuting to our most expensive public health issues? and thus pay sin taxes on it like those who buy cigarettes and alcohol do?
  16. word to the wise: any criticism of StJosE6 will get you a BrandoFan response...
  17. that was ncorgbl who coined tub o goo
  18. ever figure out my avatar and sign are Em & M? Aboz - a salute to the MB deal is a good idea, but time worn - wished any one of us would have thought about that when it happened to suggest it to our wonderful creative artists - I think hahn is still pissed at me for my comments at one of the forums last soxfest about MB needing to be offered a fair contract Mr S, one of the nice touches on the banner is the red - the spot of color really works in the midst of winter and I got a real kick out of seeing the fast welcome to our new guy - none of the other sites could top that for speed nor class nor style!
  19. the Detroit Free Press Article ripping Boras over IRod Pudge's agent plays market January 21, 2004 BY MICHAEL ROSENBERG FREE PRESS COLUMNIST Sometimes you wonder why athletes need agents at all. Everybody knows when guys can play, owners blow out arms throwing millions of dollars at them, and they're so popular they have accidental sex on the way to the ballpark. With life going so good, how can an agent make it better? But then you look at Scott Boras. He's the agent for catcher Ivan Rodriguez, who is weighing a four-year, $40-million offer from the Tigers. If you're going for every last dollar, Boras is your man. Look at what Boras said last week in his effort to help Rodriguez. "I don't want to mislead Chicago Cubs fans into thinking Greg Maddux is coming to Chicago," Boras told the Chicago Tribune. "There are a number of teams still involved." What? You don't see how that affects Pudge Rodriguez? Here's how: There is no way the Cubs will sign Maddux and Rodriguez. But if they are in danger of losing Maddux, there is a chance the Cubs could sign Rodriguez, at least theoretically. So that possibility creates competition for Rodriguez. And now there is a four-year, $40-million offer on the table for Rodriguez. Two weeks ago, the conventional wisdom was that Pudge would be lucky to get three years and $24 million. That change doesn't happen unless there is competition -- or, put more accurately, the fear of competition. Because, you see, there are no indications the Cubs want Rodriguez. And there are no indications that anybody else wants Rodriguez at anywhere near the Tigers' $40-million offer. And there are no indications that anybody wants Maddux at anywhere near the Cubs' offer, which the Tribune reported is for two years and around $15 million. But teams don't tip their hands to each other. And Boras knows it. So when he says other teams are involved, he figures somebody will believe him and raise the offer. He has done this before. Boras is also Alex Rodriguez's agent, and in December 2000, Boras negotiated A-Rod's contract with the Texas Rangers. A-Rod signed for 10 years and $252 million. That is still the richest contract in baseball history; nobody else has signed for more than $20 million a year or $160 million total. And here's the beauty of that: It's highly unlikely that anybody else was close to the 10 years and $252 million the Rangers offered. Boras got the Rangers to bid against themselves, and A-Rod made an extra $50 million or $60 million off the deal, easy. Sure, A-Rod ended up with a lousy team. But that's his fault. He could have told Boras to make sure he signed with a contender. A logical conclusion to all this is that Pudge will sign with Detroit and, within minutes, Maddux will sign with Chicago. It's possible that Boras has done his job so well that somebody else will swoop in to match the Tigers' offer, sending Rodriguez to a better team for reasonably similar money. It's also possible that Boras is just using the Tigers to get another offer for Rodriguez. Or that Rodriguez will wake up and wonder why he should sign a four-year deal at age 32 with a team that won 43 games last year. And it is possible that Rodriguez will sign with the Tigers, and both player and team will be miserable. But even if that happens, Scott Boras wins. He doesn't always win -- lately he has misjudged the market, overplayed his hand or held out too long. But he wins plenty, in the one category where he keeps score: money. Boras has shown through the years that he goes for top dollar for his clients. Everything else is secondary. You and I might think his priorities are out of whack, but he probably thinks that's our problem. Scott Boras made a lot of money for Pudge Rodriguez in the last couple of weeks. Someday soon, Boras, Rodriguez and a baseball executive will smile together at a news conference. Only one of the three will be a guaranteed winner.
  20. the most sacred place at soxtalk is in my avatar or signature...
  21. my compliments to whoever did that
  22. check out today's Free Press - they are getting steamed at Boras for playing the Tigers off versus the cubs as Boras represents Maddux and IRod - I will see if I can find the article
