  1. windodj has the post of the year very seriously the post of the year I am going to use that, too - as for the GOP troika, all chiming in about as fast as my over/under - I want to see your notes from when you bashed U S Senator Heinz because he was indeed an heir of the Heinz fortune and I want to see your notes from when Teresa Heinz lost her husband in a plane crash and her grief over that and I want to know when you got such deep and personal insights into John Kerry's and Teresa Heinz's personal relationship and why he married her and I want your all comments next time Bush puts on a flannel shirt and pretends to be a working man just like when he played aviator. Funny that no one here on the Democratic side has ever knocked Laura Bush or Barbara Bush for that matter yet Bill Clinton's wife and John Kerry's wife get commented on, ripped, pilloried, whatever. and ss2k4, I think Bush or Chimp is funny as hell. Always have, always will. I know it is not on your aproved list of bashing, but you know what, I think a lot of things said about Kerry have scurillous and held my tongue (or my typing fingers) and let it ride which is why for as much as I post here 71% of my posts are in Pale Hose Talk. If Bush or Chimp is the worst and most scandalous thing you have ever seen, you are a lucky person indeed. The real comparison that I would make with Bush and his crew would be to the "God has called us" crowd in the Geneva of the 1530s and that Servetus wouldn't survive with this crowd either and when I think about people being kept in cages at Gitmo with no contact with family, attorneys, no charges filed, just kept indefinately, I am reminded of the Star Chamber of England and that what this administration does is as heinous as what the founders of this country were against when it was created. Kerry here has been compared here to Frankenstein, Lurch, and others, and comments about Botox ad his physical appearance and this and that and the other but Bush or chimp offends? When I was a kid I had (and in fact still have) a stuffed monkey named Ceasar and I loved Toby Tyler. My kids loved Curious George. I look at Bush or Chimp in that attitude. I am so sorry it offends. It was never meant to be offensive. After my last hurrah below it shall be retired because I do not want to offend. Curious George at least was curious about things. Of course as we learned from the August 6, 2001, George Bush is so uncurious as to fail to ask for a follow up to a report entitled Bin Laden wants to attack US. Didn't even ask for a follow up. So Curious George, on behalf of all chimps and all monkeys, wins. Meanwhile let's ponder why Roman Catholic politicans weren't denied communion when they approved of the war on Iraq - which the Pope spoke against - or why Eucharist isn't denied to those who support the death penalty, which is exactly and clearly condemned in the Church's teachings. How utterly coincidental that the RC Church decides right now in this election year to one issue something and excommunicate (which is what the denial of communion is, check your canon law) now.
  2. you like Fick a lot more than I do! I wonder how adding pressure to Willie by talking about him in the media by the GM will affect him -some people respond, some don't - it also puts the team on notice - and that is not always good - I'd rather work through solmething without it being talked up if it were me personally - but some folks respond to that. I am thinking that our manager and our GM are talking a tad bit too much to the media.
  3. I never heard anyone close to the players describe Colon as "a team player" and "a joy in the clubhouse."
  4. we did that already with Gallas, that obese dj who used to stand on the dugout roof and dance to YMCA or whatever it was watching that was when years of being a Sox fan allowed one's self not to feel totally disgusted because you know is the not dumbest thing we ever did and this too will pass
  5. if you know where to get a lude, PM me. I deny I said this. And let me among those who say that 14 games is way to early to make a judgment. Unless you are Todd Ritchie and are 0-14. Otherwise, especially with position players, way too early to worry.
  6. I'll yield to no one in my dislike for Mariotti yet I don't understand all the problems with this article. The "better bring a body guard" line is a cheap shot and anyone who thinks Mariotti is neutral in the Chicago baseball scene is as blind as Mariotti and would in fact have to be Mariotti. But the only way the Sox can change things is to win. Ozzie is doing himself no favor by whining. If I need to listen to someone talk smack, we have a whole loty of choices, but from myteam's manager, I want a little professionalism and some concept that he is caring more about the Sox than what is happening on the other side of town. Say what you will about the fans of the north side team and I can say a lot, they sold just shy of 160,000 tickets for the 4 games with Cincinnati, including that Monday game. Yada yada yada we can go on and on about cubs fand but: they have been showing up. I gte tired of the excuses (I don't go because it is someone else's fault, it is JR's fault, it is this fault or that fault - shut up and go) be it from fans or be it from the manager (they get more coverage than we do - shut up and win). And to have our manager going on about that in the press - not a good thing. Ignore Mariotti. No one makes you read his stuff, that you make an effort to do. Just ignore it. It is the very fact that everyone is talking about him that makes him smile and pays his salary.
  7. WHITE SOX NAME BROOKS BOYER VICE PRESIDENT OF MARKETING; PROMOTE THREE OTHERS IN RESTRUCTURING CHICAGO – Brooks Boyer has been named the new vice president of marketing for the Chicago White Sox, while Tim Buzard and Terry Savarise have been promoted to senior vice presidents, and Scott Reifert has been promoted to vice president of communications. Boyer, who worked for the Chicago Bulls for 10 seasons, the last six as senior director of corporate partnerships, will be responsible for the team’s marketing, promotions and broadcasting efforts, as well as overseeing ticket, sponsorship and suite sales. “We are excited by the energy and enthusiasm Brooks brings to the White Sox after his 10 seasons with the Bulls,” said Jerry Reinsdorf, chairman of the White Sox. “His experience in building business relationships, in sales, and in generating an entertaining atmosphere will have a major impact on the U.S. Cellular Field experience for all White Sox fans. “Tim and Terry have been invaluable employees for the White Sox for a very long time,” Reinsdorf said. “They are incredible assets to this organization. Scott’s role with the Sox has continued to grow during his 14 years with the club, and it is his responsibility to communicate with and understand our fans. One of our key objectives as an organization is to have White Sox fans connect with our team and our players, while providing a fan-focused entertainment experience that is unmatched.” A 1994 graduate of Notre Dame where he was a member of the basketball team (1990-94) and a two-time captain, Boyer also is a graduate of the Kellstadt Graduate School of Business at De Paul University. He and his wife, Julie, reside in Westmont with their three children. -MORE- White Sox Restructuring – Page 2 Boyer will begin his role with the White Sox after a brief transition from the Bulls. Buzard, who has been with the White Sox since 1981, was promoted to senior vice president of administration. He is directly responsible for the club’s accounting, ticket office, human resources, data processing and communications departments, as well as overseeing operations of the Chicago Bulls/Chicago White Sox Training Academy in Lisle, Ill. Savarise, who was promoted to senior vice president of stadium operations, is responsible for all aspects of U.S. Cellular Field operations, including the over 2,000 employees who staff the ballpark on game days. In addition to overseeing the popular renovations to U.S. Cellular Field for the White Sox, Savarise also serves as the senior vice president of operations for the United Center, home of the Chicago Bulls and Chicago Blackhawks. Reifert joined the White Sox in 1991 as assistant director of public relations before being promoted to director of public relations in 1997. He will oversee strategic communications, media relations, corporate communications, community relations, publications and the club’s website, www.whitesox.com.
  8. that is laughable and pitiful considering the money that Bush has and how he "won" the last election Since you all think it is funy to mock on Kerry's marriage, why not play with the name of Bullshit
  9. Frank is as good an interview as Sammy
  10. no one is supporting Mariotti here - the only solution to media attention is to win, just win
  11. and this is one of the down sides of Ozzie that I was afraid of he doesn't need to be calling out the north side team nor the press, only makes him look bad and it will come back and haunt him (us) some day
  12. not a move that I would remotely make
  13. I didn't realize Ozzie was saying that much - oh the bliss sometimes of not having Chicago media - and I think Ozzie should tone it down vis a vis the north side team
  14. Crede is our 3rd baseman. I am glad when Ventura was a rookie there was not an internet because when he went through his0-50something period, interent meesage boards would be overloaded directing invective at hi and the manage and we could have lost a great player patience is a part of baseball
  15. I respectfully sumbit that the administration which has banned the photographs of the flag draped coffins is the one using the dead for political purposes - they are very aware of the visual those pictures convey, far more impact than the occasional story - please do not try and tell us that the evil "political" ones are the anti-war crowd while the noble above politics people are those in the political operations of the White House who re-issued the rescinded rule of Bush 1 to limit the cost of war from being reported by banning the potent pictures of the bodies of the hnored dead being returned with full honors accorded
  16. april must win? nah... we need to relax and win, and stress and play "must win" now

    Parking Help

tell me I'd like to die knowing that!
  18. a typical 1-2-3-4 inning for DW, man on third no outs and no score 0-coming to bat

    Parking Help

can access it from Pershing depending on whether Sox parking folk allow you to get to get to E, otherwise, you end up in the lot just south which is a real tough lot so everyone should still park in lots A, B, and C or take the el - you can always park and ride somewhere
  20. Jose in the minors for a few days? Ozzie being the tough guy?
  21. HB and Go Clemson! oops... sorry... I mean Go the East Coat USC!
  22. not showing the coffins is like going shopping with a credit card and imagining fantasy like that the bill will never come if one is to honestly weigh the course of an action, the full costs must be considered - and honored war without acknowledging the human costs is obscene recognizing and honoring the dead is the moral option
  23. please note that a sense of humor is tax deductible
