  1. Seeing that video of ALL of those plays of piss poor fundamentals (and just dropping the ball) at once is amazing and very telling as to why this season went the way it has. Look at how many times the 2B and SS are standing damn near next to each other. Unless the belief in how to handle an outfield relay has recently changed, that is not how it should be done. Add in that neither one is near a base to cover either. There always seems to be a hesitation in the throws too, is nobody in the IF yelling out where to go with the ball? In addition, many of those clips show the pitcher is standing in the IF watching the play and not backing anything up. Fielding is not the only place they lack fundamentals - horrific base running, poor situational hitting, failure to hold runners, etc... all add to the problem. This in A to Z organizational failure from all. Clearly coaches don't stress fundamentals, that the players should already know or have not learned in a minor league system that is suspect at best, And it is incumbent on the players to get it right, work on it, and communicate. Personally, I think this is why they have been so unenjoyable to watch this season, even when they win - it is just sloppy baseball.
  2. Grandal should not be in the lineup catching either. Whether it is just this season or the end of the line for him, he is flat out broken and provides zero value this year. His catching has never been good, and his bat is beyond weak this year - weak pop ups and a lot of double plays. Yet Numbnuts keeps playing him and batting him in the heart of the line-up, providing the perfect formula for killing potential big innings.
  3. I wondered if anyone else saw Moncada's reaction after Burger's home run. Maybe he is hurt, maybe he has a real bad case of long-term COVID - but there is no excuse to not be happy about a teammate giving your team the lead. He seems to have zero interest in playing baseball from all that I see. Put him on IL until he gets his act together - physically and mentally.
  4. Oh my, how the once mighty have fallen!! A sign your career might be winding down. But, I am sure the Sox will look into signing him.
  5. I reiterate what I said April 28th, just fill in different names of Garcia, Pollock, (Robert stays) for Hendricks and Harrison. As anemic as this offense is, they need every possible player available. Moncada and Garcia are for the most part going on a week now, WTH difference do 3 more days make - give someone a shot, and play with a full team. If you need roster spots, let Severino and Mercedes go - neither will be back with the Sox again. Posted April 28 Of all the bad baseball, and baseball decisions we have seen to date in the 2022 season, the one thing that really puzzles me is the handling of the roster. Players who get hurt don't go on the IL, they sit out 5-6 days. Then, they are allegedly better - but nope they miss a couple more, probably in part due to the weather. Is it that hard to look at a forecast or figure out that it has been a shitty spring for half the country? Add in that many of these guys seem to be slow healers. So why do Jimenez (first injury on foul ball), Roberts, Hendricks, and Harrison remain active, yet not able to play? Oh, I forgot there is so much depth on this team and they are on such a roll, there is no need to IL players and get them fully healthy - they can handle all of this short-handed. Just seems like a total fail by all from the top on down! If they have that little confidence in their minor leaguers, then the whole organization needs to be blown up.
  6. Not only is this team the worst fundamentally in all of baseball, they are the dumbest damned team in all of baseball. This is like watching a bad little league game.
  7. Nice competitive swing by the clean up hitting MVP!! No worries though, Grandal, Sheets, and Engel in the 9th - with the sub plot being who wins the competition between Sheets and Grandal to win the Nomar Mazara performance award.
  8. Moncada, out and apparently unavailable - since he has seen no action since Tuesday. Assuming Garcia is hurt, since he has not played this weekend. But, by no means put anyone on the injured list - because this team is so good there is no need for depth when you have McGuire and Harrison to take care of business with the bases loaded. The number of games the Sox have willingly played short-handed this year is pretty amazing.
  9. From top to bottom, owner and GM to coaches and players - this is an organization of dead asses.
  10. That is because the Rays stress fundamentals and appear to be very good at player development. The White Sox are one of the poorest fundamental teams in either league, on a yearly basis. What do they do as a "system" to prioritize this? Most of the minor leaguers seem to come up with the same deficiencies the MLB team has. During the Red Sox series it was mentioned multiple times how Boston had a fielding coach working long hours with Devers and Bogaerts on their footwork, and other fielding fundamentals. They looked very comfortable and fundamentally sound this week. Now granted Burger is not remotely close to as athletic or talented as they are, but IF you wanted to try him at 2B (not saying he is the answer, but neither are Garcia or Harrison) - do the White Sox have anybody who could do that kind of personal work with him to get where he could be a serviceable 2B? And based on everything you hear, plus his overcoming a couple of serious injuries, I do not think that Burger would be adverse to putting in the effort.
  11. Do not see how anyone can possibly think that batting Garcia is a good idea, and the way to win games. Just idiotic!!
  12. There is a reason that Donaldson has been on five teams the past five seasons. My guess is he going to have a lot of explaining to do to his teammates about his comments.
  13. A few things that make this manager so irritating: *I get that players need a day off here and there. But, with this team it just happens way too often. Add in that many times, it will be a hitter who might finally be coming around (yesterday for one of the first times all year that Abreu looked like his old self, and Anderson on a nice run). The guys who truly need days off are Garcia and Harrison! *Why can't the guys sitting be used as a pinch hitter or late inning replacement? You have at to at least try to win and use as many weapons as possible. For Anderson and/or Abreu to not get an at bat, late in a one-run game is inexcusable. To have the players who are being rested, sometimes not even be in full uniform is ridiculous - and certainly goes against all that the Manager of "respecting the game" seems to preach. *No manager is worse at getting relief pitchers up in a timely manner, or getting two up at the same time. *And during games TLR seems to do absolutely nothing. He is not conferring with other coaches or the players. He seems very disinterested whenever they show him. And the only time he comes off even worse is the post game "dead man mumbling" press conferences. This team is NOWHERE near good enough to throw winnable games out the window, and consistently make the poor decisions that are being made.
  14. After the game yesterday, at the LaRussa press conference, he said: “At times we do a little more chasing, especially before two strikes when the count is in our favor. We can improve on that. The days we hit good are when we’re (showing discipline).” Then why don't they improve upon that? That would seem to be a philosophy that if you believe in it, would be hammered across say after day. If players choose to ignore it, then they need to sit. This season, they appear to take more "good" pitches, and swing at more "bad" pitches than any other team that I have watched. Right now, their plate discipline is awful Something has to change, but I don't think firing the hitting coach will do much. The best hitting coach could not do much with the bottom 5 LaRussa put out in that crap order yesterday. But, having a true philosophy and following it would sure be worth a shot at this stage.
  15. He wasn't great (who has been?), but he is a body and it gives you options. In the 10th if KC had not scored, you think there is any way they pinch run for Abreu - not a chance (and maybe they don't with more bodies). Cut Hasley if need be. WTH is Mercedes even on the 40-man, that ship sailed. Try some minor leaguers and give them a taste - and it the experience clock is irrelevant - the time to win is now.
