This actually makes a ton of sense. He can be in catcher school with two good teachers day in and day out. Every so often he can catch a game and see if he can apply the lessons in real game action. Then he can sit with these guys and live, eat, and breathe what they do. He can DH some, and maybe pick up some 1B fill-in action as well. Then, when McCann has another solid year, we trade him at the deadline and our star pupil can become our primary backup catcher, with TA waiting in the wings, of course, cuz this is SoxTalk. .

I think you can get Yolmer back for less, unless someone wants him as a starter. If everyone is pretty much talking to him as a reserve, I think he comes back here. He’s been here forever, he seems to like his teammates, and honestly I think he’s a plus guy to have around just to keep the other guys loose.
