Last night was a shitshow, and started so late that I bailed when we got down 5-0. I’d like to watch some semi-competent baseball tonight. Let’s hope that’s what happens. The good news is, this team seems to rebound from poor showings rather nicely most of the time.

He’s playing an excellent shortstop in TA’s absence, and can be plugged in anywhere. Yes, I think TLR has penciled him in a bit more than perhaps necessary this year, but man, a guy like Leury is super valuable.

Be nice if he could catch the ball, though, since he’s, you know, a catcher and all. Seven passed balls in what? A month of work?

My dad was a Cubs fan, and so was I, as a young lad who’d yet to discover the joys of Channel 44 after 7pm. Do what you will, but I enjoyed having a small rivalry with my old man, in regards to our ball clubs of choice. I also give him a ton of credit for taking me to both ballparks as I was growing up. Cheers to you and your kids. Having them as baseball fans is probably the most important thing.

The Kimbrel/Hendricks situation in the off-season is interesting. Considering both perform the rest of the way, you could dangle both and see which you can get a better return for.

I hate Craig Kimbrel and his idiotic pose before pitching, but I love this deal. We gave up nothing (having already acquired a second baseman for next year) and got a solid (lights out when he’s right) bullpen arm. We have significantly increased our chances for a WS this year and next. Beyond that, we’ll figure out how to replace our #9 hitter.
