Sox hire Ethan Katz per WSD
Why not go the Rays route, pick up a strong third starter and use the other days with openers and bulk guys. Then make those guys compete for an expanded role over the course of the year while still getting experience at major league level. Most of these guys you don't want pitching a ton of innings anyway. For example: Rotation: Gio, Keuchel, FA Openers/Bulk: Dunning, Cease, Kopech, Crochet Bullpen: FA, Bummer, Heuer, Marshall, Foster, Fry

Gant didn't accuse LaRussa of racism or cite any racist conduct. He claimed several black players including himself didn't like him, from which it was inferred TLR is racist. There is a difference there. His actual behavioral complaints had to do with things like making out lineups. But his claims weren't corroborated by other alleged players and Gant ended up apologizing.

Christian ideology is monarchist. Where in the bible do you find anything that supports democratic or republican form of government???

How is comparing assets you'd have to give up to acquire one pitcher versus another a matter of apples and oranges?

2020 Election Thoughts
If you look at the rates of use of both prescription pharmaceuticals whose side effects include delusional thinking, paranoia, mood alteration, confused thinking and psychosis, and street drugs particularly drugs like meth, along with alcohol abuse rates, I think you'll find the underlying answer

2020 Election Thoughts
Trump is openly and deliberately trying to dismantle the democratic institutions of this nation. All while deliberately encouraging the spread of covid amongst its population. Can't get much worse than that.

Taijuan Walker, worth a gamble or is Jake Odorizzi
The idea that a player that makes your team better shouldn't be signed because he's not one of the top two players available is just downright stupid. No offense.

Offseason Targets
Giving up multiple prospects in a trade rather than giving up the 52nd pick in the draft doesn't make sense to me. Any of those trade candidates you mentioned would require greater value than a single late second round pick, players presumably closer to the window of opportunity than that prospective pick would be. Giving up a prospective player with a ten percent chance of contributing several years down the road when the period of contention is immediate for a pitcher that would considerably enhance the team immediately is a small price to pay. Its not even worth a second thought.

Sox expected to be a "little bolder financially" than most
He may want one last bang but I doubt it has anything to do with concern for his reputation or proving someone wrong
-
Who would you have hired?
The thing about Bochy is he won three world series with teams that were very good but not stacked with dominant players, like LaRussa's teams or the Dodgers or Hinch's Astros. If those teams didn't come away with a World Series it would have been an abject failure. Bochy won with good teams playing tight, sound baseball. Any of Bochy's teams lose in the championship series, they could've said, hey, we still had a hell of a year.

Sox expected to be a "little bolder financially" than most
In my experience the older one gets, the less they're concerned about their reputation. By the time a person gets into their late eighties, the concern is rapidly approaching zero. Whatever motivation is left is primarily personal. Generally speaking of course.

Under the circumstances I'd think he'd have to consider taking that and going for the jack pot next off season. He has ten days to submit his decision.

At least 50% of the board didn't want Hinch dude

I don't think LaRussa ever managed without Duncan. The one thing that would make me feel better about LaRussa is if the purpose is to give Jirschele a higher level of tutelage on the Sox bench for a year or two. Maybe Jirschele could handle the clubhouse minimizing the TLR effect there.

Everyone can't sign Realmuto. Only way Sox resign McCann is if they can guarantee him 120+ starts a year throughout his contract somehow. He's getting a starting job somewhere. He's outperformed 90+% of the catchers out there including Grandal since the beginning of '19 season.

Japan's top SP could be coming to MLB
According to this 2018 article, "he may have to wait until he becomes an international free agent in '21" because the Giants don't post players. I think he would just be an unrestricted FA. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/tomoyuki-sugano

Japan's top SP could be coming to MLB
Are you sure he is still under control of the Japanese team? After nine years they have unrestricted free agency rights

Japan's top SP could be coming to MLB
25 years old with six years with professional league is the current rule to qualify as unrestricted free agent.

Jon Lester as a stop gap for only a 1 year Deal
As much as I enjoy a good cub fan gear grinding, I don't think it would be worth it in this case. What would really grind if I was a cub fan would be seeing Quintana return to form alongside the guys traded for him on the south side. Much better chance of that. He still has his stuff and his recent peripherals haven't been that far off.

Pro Tony La Russa Hiring Poster Here
I don't think that's even close to true. You're confusing an emphatic subset with the majority. Regardless, it wouldn't be a contradiction if those who do what him gone also recognize that he was undercut to such an extent that it could drive him out.

So in your little hypothetical scenario here, you're going to tell someone what to do, seek compliance via threat,, blame them for your own actions when they don't comply, and then turn around and claim it's not political. That's the definition of politics in a nutshell there homey.

Humans are actually able to perform computational analysis with their little old brains. That's how you can cross street traffic without getting killed.
