QUOTE (G&T @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 07:37 AM) My opinion is that if you are immediately attracted to someone, there is something about that person you will always be attracted to. If it is something that grows on you, it will almost certainly dissipate over time. What if you are attracted to her boobs only to see them sag to her waist 15 years down the road? It's kinda that 'it' quality initially. First time you see her...she has it or she doesn't and most people, including my shallow ass, won't pursue it any further if she doesn't. However, I think even if she doesn't have that 'it' initially, some guys can look past that and still fall totally and madly in love. Take for instance the poor bastards out there that don't have my strikingly handsome physical appearance. Those guys might see that 'it' quality in every unattainable hottie they come across, but they're not picking them up. Now they set their sights a little lower and they may meet a girl that doesn't have that initial 'it'. But once they get to know her and peel back the layers, they find 'it' underneath. Once they're emotionally invested, the physical attraction can progress quickly and I don't think it would be any more likely to dissipate over time then if it was originally there. The initial 'it' is physical, but the most important 'it' is emotional. Physical 'it' and emotional 'it' = Good chance for a successful relationship Emotional 'it' and no initial Physical 'it' = Possible successful relationship Physical 'it' and no emotional 'it' = FAILED relationship...but a whole lot of fun

Bren you're not alone. I believe in marriage. No need to try and convince those that aren't though. To each their own.

QUOTE (The Beast @ Aug 2, 2010 -> 12:28 PM) Is marriage nothing more than a contract between two people? Oh, and f*** Tim Tebow. He can take his anti-abortion campaign and shove it up his A-S-S. What the hell kind of question is that? As for Tebow...I never saw an anti abortion campaign, but this is not the place to discuss that or the shoving of anything up someones ass.

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Aug 2, 2010 -> 12:30 PM) Yeah, but we have some good young players that should step up and provide solid minutes. We were return basically 80% of ice time to the team, which is huge, and add a goalie whose abilities are roughly the same as Niemi's. I think we will be fine, but we won't be able to survive injuries all that well. Oh yeah, in the NHL, signing guys to offer sheets is pretty rare, so the Sharks were clearly trying to hurt the Hawks. They knew the Hawks were going to keep Hammer, so they figured, they offer a front-loaded deal, they can kill the Hawks ability to sign Niemi. Can't say I blame them as the Sharks had no shot at a Cup with the Hawks depth and talent. I know they were trying to hurt the Hawks financially, but if the real reason deep down was to actually get Niemi out of the move...that would be some Machiavellian s***. I actually think this is a great opportunity for Crawford to be paired with a veteran and also to not have the language barrier that would exist with Antti. Crawford has the tools and I fully expect him to be the long term guy for this franchise. The other + about Turco is his puckhandling. He can actually make the Hawks even faster out of their zone. -

Also, San Jose is a possible destination for Niemi. I said that was a slick move when they extended the rarely used offer sheet to Hammer. It pissed me off, but was smart by them. No doubt that caught the Hawks off guard: “[Offer sheets] don’t concern me. These guys are going to remain with the Blackhawks. We have plenty of flexibility to make things work.” — Hawks general manager Stan Bowman, June 30, 2010. Because of that 'lack of concern' they spent more on Hammer than they were planning on. If that money was available, it would have went to Niemi. I hate to give San Jose and Doug Wilson so much credit, but is it possible the Hammer offer sheet was a calculated move from the start? -

Reports are Turco signed at 1.3 mil. That's a very friendly cap hit. Thanks for the Cup Niemi! Some bowman quotes: Bowman on Niemi: "We'll always walk together as Stanley Cup champions. There's no bitterness." Bowman: Made several contract offers to Niemi, including a multiyear offer, but couldn't come to agreement. Bowman on Turco: "I know he's hungry for a Stanley Cup and we're hungry to defend." -

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Aug 2, 2010 -> 10:18 AM) THat's kind of what I was thinking. he really screwed himself by pushing this so far Really bad advice from his agent who I think is a douche trying to line his own pockets instead of looking out for his player. IMO Niemi would have been much better served to take a reasonable one year contract and play for a strong Hawks team that makes him look good. He would cash in next off season as a UFA. Welcome Turco. Thanks for turning down Philly to come to a winner! -

QUOTE (The Critic @ Aug 2, 2010 -> 02:58 AM) They can try to trade him before accepting the arb ruling, but not after. That's what I've been reading, anyway - once they accept the decision they can't trade him for a year. If they decline the ruling, Niemi walks away as a UFA. Hawks have 3 options here. Accept the arb ruling and keep him. Accept the arb ruling and trade him. Let him walk as a UFA. -

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 09:40 AM) Agreed. I had heard of stage fright before, but I thought it was this like really rare thing, and I couldn't really imagine people actually having it. Clearly I was wrong. Two of my best friends have it. They have to wait in the stall line whenever we go. If the divider is there between urinals they can do it though.

QUOTE (IceCreamPants @ Jul 28, 2010 -> 03:13 PM) I among a lot of other men (from what I hear) have trouble peeing in public places where there are others present. Sporting events it is almost impossible for me to squeeze one out no matter how bad I have to go. I just dont know how to deal with it. The harder I try to go the more my dong locks it in. It is complete stage fright and its without a reason. Even if there is only one other person in the bathroom I still wont be able to take my leak. How do I get past this? Its something that I have dealt with for as long as I can remember. I have tried to picture waterfalls and imagine I am the only one present but then it just winds up dribbling down almost hitting my pants. Who has has this? How do you fix the pipe? I believe this needs to be done when you're a young wee lad. Ya need to be in a crowded bathroom at a big event like a Sox game. You finally get up to the urinal, you drop your pants down to your ankles, bare-assed you stand on your tip toes holding your 1/4 inch penis. There's giant penises all around you, seemingly just popping out of nowhere cause everyone's still has their pants up. You will never have a more humiliating feeling in a bathroom than that moment right there...unless you're George Michael or Sen Larry Craig. So after that....it's all good...you hit rock bottom...things can only go up from there. Oh, but if it happens to start going up right at that moment...zip up and get outta there!! Since you're an adult now dude, I don't know what to tell ya. You can try the pants around the ankles thing...

QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Jul 28, 2010 -> 10:02 AM) From Sherman in the NY Post "What I hear is the Mets are trying to locate a pitcher (probably a reliever) who is overpriced and not having a particularly strong season, but who their scouts like and pluck him for little to no prospect in return." Sounds like a match to me.... I think you guys are overlooking the bolded part above. Unless the scouts name is Kelly Linebrink, who the hell in their right mind would like this guy??
