  1. QUOTE(Alpha Dog @ Feb 14, 2008 -> 09:03 PM) Anyone find it amusing that the trial lawyers who are trying to prosecute the phone companies for helping the government are some of the biggest contributors to the Democrats? And I don't mean trial lawyers in a generic sense, I mean that 66 lawyers trying to sue has donated over 1.5 million to 44 Dems! http://www.townhall.com/columnists/AmandaC...ial_lawyer_cash I thought they stood for 'change'? I'm sick to my mutherf***ing stomach that there's a chance that the next President of this country does not intend to do everything in his power to keep us safe. Terrorists don't just come up and tell you when they're going to attack.
  2. God Bless!! Hopefully this asshole doesn't get the attention he craves like the last one.
  3. QUOTE(striker62704 @ Feb 14, 2008 -> 03:31 PM) I forgot to mention that I'm in CO, so I need somewhere online. http://www.cbssportsstore.com/family/index...egoryId=1151933
  4. If he gets elected..IMO we're f***ed. Obama's Wiretap Votes February 13, 2008; Page A26 Now and then sanity prevails, even in Washington. So it did yesterday as the Senate passed a warrantless wiretap bill for overseas terrorists while killing most of the Lilliputian attempts to tie down our war fighters. "We lost every single battle we had on this bill," conceded Chris Dodd, which ought to tell the Connecticut Senator something about the logic of what he was proposing. His own amendment -- to deny immunity from lawsuits to telecom companies that cooperated with the government after 9/11 -- didn't even get a third of the Senate. It lost 67-31, though notably among the 31 was possible Democratic Presidential nominee Barack Obama. (Hillary Clinton was absent, while John McCain voted in favor.) It says something about his national security world view, or his callowness, that Mr. Obama would vote to punish private companies that even the bipartisan Senate Intelligence Committee said had "acted in good faith." Had Senator Obama prevailed, a President Obama might well have been told "no way" when he asked private Americans to help his Administration fight terrorists. Mr. Obama also voted against the overall bill, putting him in MoveOn.org territory. The defeat of these antiwar amendments means the legislation now moves to the House in a strong position. Speaker Nancy Pelosi is in the Dodd-Obama camp, but 21 Blue Dog Democrats have sent her a letter saying they are happy with the Senate bill. She may try to pass the restrictions that failed in the Senate, and Republicans should tell her to make their day. This is a fight Senator McCain should want to have right up through Election Day, with Democrats having to explain why they want to hamstring the best weapon -- real-time surveillance -- we have against al Qaeda.
  5. QUOTE(Jenksismyb**** @ Feb 13, 2008 -> 01:58 PM) Anyone else find it odd that the congressman who kept calling McNamee a drug dealer was the one guy that Clemens was seeking out and found as he was walking out of the hearing room? Also, the members of congress are piss poor at asking questions and forcing an actual answer. "Mr. Clemens, I just find it hard to believe you. There's ample corroborating testimonial evidence against you. Two other witnesses agree with what McNamee is asserting. Why should I believe you?" "Well sir, I've worked hard in my life. My body is a temple. I've told some kids at talks that they shouldnt do drugs. My body is a temple." And why does everyone think that McNamee lying 5 years ago has any bearing on this? I mean, if you're going to say he lied before so he's lying now, he had a motive to lie back then. Now he doesn't. He was caught and forced to tell the truth. Before he was protecting his clients and career. For committee member on his side why didn't anyone ask him about that? I only watched the last hour or so, but I came away with a more solid feeling that Clemens is lying. His defenses are weak and the fact that Pettite and his wife made sworn statements really hurts him. Oh and also the fact that he's got a dirt-bag lawyer and is playing the total sleaze ball party in visiting each congress member before the hearing (and not just to go over procedure/routine). Also, if I were McNamee I would have said two words at the end: "Whitaker Chambers." Yeah and you probably missed the lady that gave Roger a platform just to talk a little bit about how much hard work he puts in to stay in such great shape. Then she pulls up a big ass poster board with pictures of Clemens from different years of his career and says something like...I'm not an expert, but you look the same size in all these. She also grilled McNamee if he had a book deal in place. He said no. Then it was..well will you get a book deal from this. He said no. Then it was well are you going to profit from this by selling your story and he said no. Then in a sarcastic tone she was like...yeah, well we'll see about that. I mean she was almost like a lawyer for Clemens railing McNamee. It was nuts. As I was just searching for Mrs. Foxx's exact text I came across this picture withe the caption underneath Former New York Yankees pitcher Roger Clemens walks to the office of Rep. Virginia Foxx, R-N.C. on Capitol Hill in Washington, Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2008. (AP Photo/Manuel Balce Ceneta)
  6. QUOTE(lvjeremylv @ Feb 13, 2008 -> 01:34 PM) Yeah this stuff is pretty intense lol. I'm glued to this hearing. Bah ...it was fluff....the whole f***in thing is about McNamee injecting Clemens as well as others. So the congressman gets on his soapbox and says "YOU ARE A DRUG DEALER" and that means McNamee is owned?? I don't think so. I'll tell you what....and I've said it in the thread in the Diamond Club....it's f***in nuts how this has fallen right down party lines. I have no idea how, but every Republican has sided with Clemens and every Democrat has sided with McNamee. As a republican, I'm sick about it.
  7. QUOTE(Texsox @ Feb 13, 2008 -> 01:32 PM) That seems strange. Could it be just a coincidence? I don't know...but if you didn't see who was talking and only heard it...you could identify which party was talking just by their questions and comments.
  8. QUOTE(StrangeSox @ Feb 13, 2008 -> 01:25 PM) I really don't understand how this ended up breaking down party lines. Me either....but it is so right down the line it's sick.
  9. QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Feb 13, 2008 -> 12:41 PM) It's absolutely crazy how every Republican I have seen not only sides with Clemens, but lets him use up their time telling stories to make himself look good. and here goes another one....Roger please explain how hard you worked to keep in shape
  10. QUOTE(retro1983hat @ Feb 13, 2008 -> 11:58 AM) Tonight's the CHAIR SHOW. Where they bring people up the elevator and sit in the chair and say Yes or No. The homeless kid kind of screwed himself going acapella last night. I liked the guy from Austrailia and the Irish chick. The dude from Australia is really good. Yeah that homeless dude was a mess. Now I know why the band couldn't do what he wanted...it was a joke
  11. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Feb 13, 2008 -> 12:35 PM) Based on everything presented thus far, how does this look for McNamee and Clemens? Who looks like the liar at this point? It's absolutely crazy how every Republican I have seen not only sides with Clemens, but lets him use up their time telling stories to make himself look good.
  12. Whoever the congressman is now is pretty much just letting Clemens tell his story of his hard upbringing. Mr Clay is who it was. He pretty much just gave Clemens a platform to tell a whole sad story about his hard work and how he had no car...etc...and his sister in law that was murdered or whatever. Not sure how any of it was relevant except to help Clemens...
  13. Here were some of the things Burton said... Burton attacks McNamee's credibility As we said in the last entry, it seemed that Rep. Dan Burton (R-Ind.) has sided with Roger Clemens. He pointed out several interviews from 2006 and 2007 in which Brian McNamee was quoted as saying he did not provide Clemens or Andy Pettitte with HGH or steroids. Burton, several times in a row, said, "Is that a lie?" and McNamee responded, "Yes." "Oh, it's another one," Burton said sarcastically. Then the Congressman from Indiana railed against McNamee and the hearings as a whole. "This is really disgusting. You're hear as a sworn witness. You're hear to tell the truth. You're here under oath, and yet we have lie after lie after lie after lie. ... I don't' know what to believe. I know one thing I don't believe, and that's you." Burton then fell in line with Clemens's team about how the legendary pitcher will never be able to recover his reputation. "Roger Clemens is a baseball, he's a titan in baseball, and you with all these lies which are not true, are destroying his reputation. Now, how does he get his reputation back?" Burton allowed that "if these allegations aren't true", then it woudl be damaging. Just now, under questioning from Rep. Stephen Lynch (D-Mass.), one of Clemens's attorneys made what was seen as an unusual request to speak to the committee. Rep. Waxman said that the committee's rules allowed Clemens to consult with his counsel, but that counsel could not direct the committee directly.
  14. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Feb 13, 2008 -> 10:46 AM) Because deep down, I don't think people really care. The media is trying to blow this up into something bigger than it actually is. Some consider him the greatest pitcher in history. If his records are tainted, I think it's as big as it gets. On a side note...It seems the Republicans are grilling McNamee and the Democrats are grilling Clemens.
  15. Congressman Burton seems to be acting like Clemens' best friend.
  16. This thing has sucked me in like the OJ trial did. I can't believe more people aren't into it.
  17. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Feb 13, 2008 -> 09:59 AM) what did Petitte's wife say? Petitte testified he had discussed HGH with Clemens in 1999/2000. He also came home and told his wife about that conversation. Then in 2005 Petitte asked Clemens, what would he say about HGH if investigators asked him. To which Clemens told Petitte your confused, I was talking about my wife taking HGH back then. Petitte also came home and told his wife about that and how Roger acted like that prior conversation didn't happen. Pettite's wife submitted testimony that she recalls having the first conversation with Pettite about Roger and HGH and the second when Roger changed his story and said it was about his wife. Also, it has already been established by Clemens and McNamee that his wife took the HGH in 2003. So how the heck could Clemen's and Pettite's conversation back in in 1999 have anything to do with Roger's wife. Cummings nailed Clemens on this and all Clemens could say is he thinks Petitte is confused. Petitte also volunatarily offered up that he took HGH in 2004 and Petitte has come off as extremely open and honest. They even had Roger speak to how he's such a great guy and his credibility could not be questioned.
  18. Pettite's testimony is extremely damaging and Petite's wife as well.
  19. QUOTE(Athomeboy_2000 @ Feb 13, 2008 -> 09:36 AM) Afghanistan was one thing. IRAQ is a whole other. They invaded a country saying they were supporting terrorists, only to find out later there were no links. Over the oast 3+ years we have been fighting over when and how to get them out. Investigations into corruption within the administration, and other wrong doing. All the time Bush suppresses government reports on global warming. Gives the Kyoto accords the middle finger. Let's oil companies money rape American citizens, healthcare companies charge record prices, America ranks 24th in the world in broadband penetration, a national debt that is ballooning out of control, ignored all these "sub-prime" and intrest only loans that even I know were bad ideas and I didnt go to Yale. Blah Blah Blah...we get it Bush is the devil...everyone else's opinions are wrong. Go post about it in the Dem thread. You know this isn't what iamshacks intention was with this thread, but you couldn't hold back.
  20. QUOTE(Athomeboy_2000 @ Feb 13, 2008 -> 09:26 AM) I saw this a couple of days ago. It was outstanding. Thanks to this lovely administration we have in charge now, a LOT of critical issues have been ignored for 7+ years while they distracted us with Iraq. So, many issues that could have been worked on have been pushed off to the next guy. And the next guy may not be very popular because of the decisions that need to made. It wont be easy or fun. But it NEEDS to be done. My own political view is Obama can influence people to do "hard things", but people will look at Clinton ans say "screw you". Dam this administration for flying planes into the World Trade Center.
  21. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Feb 13, 2008 -> 09:17 AM) Has Hardin made any more challenges to Waxman? Nothing yet...just statements from Waxman.
  22. Clemens is done!! The wives testimony stuff is big.
  23. Knoblach stated McNamee was accurate Pettite stated McNamee was accurate
