  1. QUOTE(StrangeSox @ Feb 8, 2008 -> 10:40 AM) The speech was just loaded with about every right-wing talkshow radio host cliche. It was almost like a parody of them it was so over the top. I have never listened to a rightwing radio talk show in my life so I wouldn't know.
  2. I really dislike it when a campaign has their canidate change their accent to suit their audience.
  3. QUOTE(KipWellsFan @ Feb 8, 2008 -> 09:39 AM) That was a disgraceful speech yesterday by Romney. You know the guy's just way to smart to believe even half the loony crap he rambled off. I gotta agree with Jon Stewart on this one. "f*** You" Mitt Romney! I thought it was a great speech. The best speech he ever made.
  4. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Feb 7, 2008 -> 12:11 PM) And was completely inaccurate. And YASNY, your correct it's irreelvant what he said since he's not the nominee, but it was still very strange and Democrats will remember this speech if he runs again in 2012, which I think he will. I think if he gave this speech 2 months ago he might still be in it.
  5. If I may recommend to any ice cream lovers out there. Skinny Cow ice cream cones are the bomb. You would never think they were somehow low fat. If you're gonna cheat once in a while..do it with something like this.
  6. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Feb 7, 2008 -> 11:16 AM) If I was helping a friend break the law, this is exactly what I'd do. I'd stash some of the evidence away somewhere just in case, because I wouldn't want to be the one caught without a chair when the music stopped. That's kind of what he says in this article. But my questoin would be, if you have Clemens', do you also have everyone else. Why would you only keep the syringes from one player? Lawyer: McNamee saved used syringes Clemens' ex-trainer feared being 'thrown under bus' By Duff Wilson and Michael S. Schmidt New York Times 1:08 AM CST, February 7, 2008 Brian McNamee has given federal investigators bloody gauze pads, syringes and vials he said he used to inject Roger Clemens with steroids and human growth hormone in 2000 and '01, a lawyer familiar with the matter said Wednesday. McNamee, Clemens' former personal trainer, hopes that DNA and chemical tests on the materials will support his claim that he injected Clemens with those drugs and prove that Clemens lied in a sworn deposition to congressional investigators Tuesday, the lawyer said. Clemens' lawyer, Lanny A. Breuer, responded that McNamee "apparently has manufactured evidence." He said in a statement that the notion that McNamee had saved gauze pads and syringes for seven years "defies all sensibility." Federal authorities have sent the gauze pads and syringes for testing by a laboratory. If they show blood, the authorities may consider asking Clemens for a DNA sample. If members of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform conclude that Clemens did not tell the truth in his deposition — and make the same conclusion about his statements at a committee hearing set for Wednesday — he could face charges of lying to federal officials, which is punishable by up to five years in prison. The lawyer, who insisted on anonymity because he was not authorized to talk about the case, said McNamee had injected Clemens at Clemens' apartment in New York and then taken the syringes and pads to his home in Queens, where he had a medical waste-disposal box. But McNamee, a former police officer, saved the evidence rather than discard it, the lawyer said. "He was always concerned that if he ever got caught, he would be the most vulnerable and people would throw him under the bus," the lawyer said. McNamee is scheduled to give a deposition to the House committee Thursday. His lawyers said his evidence would be released publicly after his session with congressional staff members. Clemens is scheduled to hold one-on-one meetings with members of the committee, two people familiar with the plans said.
  7. QUOTE(Athomeboy_2000 @ Feb 6, 2008 -> 11:29 AM) I loved the electronic machine I used. VERY easy to use and fast. I used that last year...it was very simple. I think they just randomly pick people to use it. This year I had paper ballot...I didn't have to draw any lines though. Was that for cook county or something?
  8. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Feb 7, 2008 -> 09:27 AM) How would one be able to tell the difference between manufactured/doctored evidence and the real thing? Well if it has Clemens blood or DNA on there as well as the traces of HGH or steriods or whatever...that would be enough for me. I mean I guess his lawyers can argue that he some how he added the HGH or steroids to the syringe from the B12 on his own. Then they'll test if the syringe has any trace of B12 or whatever. If Clemens was really smart and thinking ahead, I guess he could have made sure to use the same syringe. I don't know. I suppose they'll have a defense and reasonable doubt no matter what.
  9. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Feb 7, 2008 -> 08:40 AM) Why would McNamee keep those syringes/physical evidence? If him and Roger were cool before, then there is no reason for him to keep those syringes/physical evidence unless he planned on turning on him at one point. Who knows? Maybe so nobody else could find them in the garbage or something?? Maybe to protect himself in case s*** hit the fan. I don't really know...but I can't see the guy manufacturing evidence.
  10. McNamee's lawyers say physical evidence backs drug use by Clemens, who's going back to Hill By RONALD BLUM, AP Baseball Writer February 7, 2008 AP - Feb 6, 7:32 pm EST More Photos NEW YORK (AP) -- Brian McNamee and Roger Clemens both planned to be on Capitol Hill for a day of separate meetings and vastly different stories. McNamee gave federal prosecutors syringes and other physical evidence his lawyers say back the personal trainer's allegations of drug use by the star pitcher. Clemens, who gave a deposition Tuesday, was scheduled to hold one-on-one meetings Thursday with members of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, two people familiar with the plans said, speaking on condition of anonymity because no announcement was made. Among the members Clemens planned to meet with was Rep. Tom Davis, the committee's ranking Republican, one of the people said. Committee chairman Henry Waxman is not scheduled to meet with Clemens. McNamee was due to meet with committee staff Thursday morning to give his own deposition, and his legal team said it will bolster his story with details of the evidence. His side turned over gauze pads and syringes they said had Clemens' blood to IRS Special Agent Jeff Novitzky in early January, a person familiar with the evidence said, speaking on condition of anonymity because McNamee's lawyers did not want to publicly discuss details. The syringes were used to inject Clemens with steroids and human growth hormone, the person said. A second person, also speaking on condition of anonymity, said the evidence was from 2000 and 2001. "I think this is a significant point in the case. We believe that this is significant corroboration," said McNamee's lead lawyer, Earl Ward. Lanny Breuer, one of Clemens' lawyers, called McNamee's allegations "desperate smears" and said the trainer "apparently has manufactured evidence." "It is just not credible," Breuer said in a statement. "Who in their right mind does such a thing?" In December's Mitchell Report on doping in baseball, McNamee said he injected Clemens 16 times with performance-enhancing drugs in 1998, 2000 and 2001. Richard Emery, another of McNamee's lawyers, said the committee will be given a description of the evidence that was turned over to prosecutors. "It does change the nature of the case from a he-said, she-said to something about physical evidence," Emery said. Doping expert Don Catlin said steroids still could be detected in a sample that old. "But if you don't find it, it doesn't mean it wasn't there before," said Catlin, who added there are sure to be chain-of-custody issues. He said HGH would be much less stable. After his five-hour sworn deposition Tuesday, Clemens said that he again denied using performance-enchancing drugs. By denying under oath that he used performance-enhancing drugs, Clemens put himself at legal risk. Keith Ausbrook, the committee's Republican general counsel, told The Associated Press the committee was not aware that such physical evidence existed. "Unknown and unexpected evidence comes in at all times in any investigation," Ausbrook wrote in an e-mail. "We will still need to examine McNamee's evidence and hear what he has to say." McNamee, the former personal trainer for Clemens and Yankees pitcher Andy Pettitte, also told former Senate majority leader George Mitchell that he injected Pettitte with HGH. Pettitte confirmed in December that he used HGH for two days. Emery said McNamee's legal team planned to hold a news conference following their client's deposition in Washington on Thursday and will discuss the evidence in greater detail then. Because the items were turned over several years after the events under discussion, Clemens' side could challenge whether they were tampered with. "Brian McNamee is obviously a troubled man who is obsessed with doing everything possible to destroy Roger Clemens," Breuer said in a statement. "McNamee lied to the police who were investigating him for sexual assault, he lied to Senator Mitchell, he lied to the federal government, and now he apparently has manufactured evidence. He has changed his story repeatedly on this matter. He claims to love Roger Clemens, he says he modeled being a father on Roger Clemens, he said Roger treated him like family -- but he now claims he kept blood, gauze, and needles from Roger Clemens for seven years. It defies all sensibility." Emery said it was unnecessary for McNamee's side to persuade the Justice Department that the evidence was authentic. "They'll decide themselves what they believe is the case and make their own decisions based on the facts as they have it. All we know is what we believe is the truth," he said. McNamee's turning over of the syringes first was reported by the New York Daily News on its Web site. Clemens and McNamee are to testify at a committee hearing next Wednesday along with Pettitte, former Yankees second baseman Chuck Knoblauch and Kirk Radomski, the former New York Mets clubhouse attendant who pleaded guilty in April to felony charges of distributing steroids and laundering money. He is scheduled to be sentenced Friday in federal court in San Francisco. "Roger is looking forward to testifying before Congress next week to set the record straight," Breuer said. "He will not waiver, nor will he shrink from this because he is telling the truth. We ask all fair-minded people to listen. It is time for Brian McNamee to be subject to the same scrutiny as Roger Clemens." AP sports writers Howard Fendrich in Washington and Eddie Pells in Denver contributed to this report.
  11. QUOTE(JFields27 @ Feb 5, 2008 -> 07:15 PM) yeah I go to the high school he went to Graduated '91.
  12. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 6, 2008 -> 02:32 PM) I am not a fan of the meal, but supposedly Lou Mitchells and G&G are good spots. I went with Ricobene's and was extermely dissapointed. My peppers were pretty much raw and I ordered some Pasta f**ioli and I got cream of potato. WTF?? I hate when I have a bad lunch
  13. He's from Chicago...so rock on dude!
  14. Anyone have a good pepper and egg place downtown??
  15. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Feb 6, 2008 -> 10:26 AM) Hawk has always been a homer, and he has always been a guy who has nicknamed players. Thats not my issue with Hawk. Hell if he just kept to that he would be just fine. Its what he has recently turned into. The constant b****ing on the TV about how all of the umps have a personal vendetta with the sox is a disgrace. His start of the home run call only to watch the CF come in a few steps to catch an easy fly ball is almost Santo like. His new catch phrase of Daggumit and then 10 minute tirade on how all of the outs we had were crushed crisp line drives, and how the opposition had duck farts that just found the one space that the sox were not is also too much. His tit for tat thing with Kotex boy is over played. Comparing Hawk to Santo is a bit much in my opinion. I don't mind the stretch calls. When there is a ball that's hit deep, aren't you wishing it's gone? I know I am...and so is Hawk, it's just that he has the mic. Yeah, he is wrong many times...and I don't know about you, but so am I. He doesn't constantly b**** about the umps and he doesn't constantly go on 10 minute tirades about sox outs and their outs. I have never heard him mention the sox line drive outs and the other teams seeing eye singles or duck snorts when it wasn't accurate. He doesn't say it just to say it...he says it when it happens. People exaggerate the s*** out of what Hawk does. I also don't mind the Kotex s***. Marriotti has his medium and Hawk has his. I enjoy having someone stick up for the team...right or wrong it gives two sides to the story. Daggumit....not my particular choice of word, but then again my choice wouldn't be allowed on the air. There may be better announcers out there, but Hawk isn't nearly as bad as he's made out to be and with a better color guy, he's dam good.
  16. Need to throw in some Ricobene love. Breaded Steak sammy is the bomb!!
  17. QUOTE(Middle Buffalo @ Feb 4, 2008 -> 12:41 PM) South Sider wins "The Big Game." http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/chi-0...1,2401735.story I graduated with his older brother. I'm happy for Dave.
  18. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Feb 4, 2008 -> 12:48 PM) Haha, Hampton is such a clueless retard and it's proven yet again. The whole reason the Giants won was they established pressure with ONLY their front 4 early, then blitzed Brady after he was beaten up and confused to the point where he wasn't getting good reads. The Bears exclusive blitzing, 46 defense for 60 minutes style would have been beaten to a pulp by New England. That's not the Bears fault, it's just how it is, just like the Bears would have killed any of those Packers teams from the 60's. Football players just get bigger and faster and better every year, which is why comparing teams from different eras is stupid and pointless. Yet you just did it. Beaten to a pulp?? Ok
  19. QUOTE(retro1983hat @ Feb 4, 2008 -> 11:00 AM) While I do like Chipotle, I feel the workers are given cash for the least amount of meat they put on the burrito. Sometimes it is a joke. But I do like the food. Also, if anyone has been to any of the Tacos El Norte restaurants in the NW burbs, it is worth it. Best Tacos Ever!!! Just can't get into Chipotle. I'm someone who was introduced to burrito's back in high school from my friends mom who was from mexico....and then from hitting the authentic burrito joints late night after being at the bars. I love a good Burrito and to me Chipotle just doesn't even taste like a burrito. It's crazy, cause I have tons of friends that love it...and I've tried it 3 times and every time I'm dissapointed. There's a real good Mexican place in Woodridge on the NE corner of 75th and Woodward. It's called Los Arcos, but the sign above the place simply says Mexican Food. They also have a Mexican grocery store next door. This place is the real deal and IMO what a burrito should taste like. It's in the same parking lot as an Arby's. My only complaint is their salsa is a bit spicy for my taste, but for anyone who likes heat I'm sure it's the bomb.
  20. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Feb 3, 2008 -> 09:17 PM) f*** Fox, seriously -- great job having Bradshaw up there. His voice sounds like one of those old-women who has clearly been smoking for 50+ years. Yeah and he didn't gave Manning a chance to give his own speech and thank anyone. I had the MVP thanking his teammates first and due to Bradshaws stoopid questions instead of just getting out of the way...Manning thanked nobody and I'm out 65 bucks!!!!!!!!! As for the game....18-1 NE...same as the Bears only the Bears won the big one. I also think the way NE played with a tough Defense in their face proves Hampton correct. Hampton: We would have pounded Brady
  21. Shazzam...well thought out, fact based points in two posts? Where am I?? Well done guys.
  22. Saw Bee Movie. Thought it was pretty dam funny. I think if you're a fan of Seinfeld you'd like it. The story is a bit out there, but I thought the dialogue was funny.
  23. QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Jan 30, 2008 -> 05:22 PM) Racism is still very alive and kicking in this country due to the socio-economic situation of the inner city. Many of the fears and hatred as result of crime and poverty are a direct result of race thus resulting an inert dislike for a race whether intentional or not. Jesse and Al do nothing to assist in disfusing this situation because it keeps them in the spotlight. There is no definitive voice for the minority race. Obama can be looked at a face for this cause. I find sexism funny. Sexism is an emotional process related to instinctual feelings that need to be repressed by the human mind which I feel is not even possible. Hillary being a women is not why I would not vote for her. If women really wanted sexism to go away and the objectivity of women to cease they would evaluate their status. I really think that at least average looking women geta pretty good shake. I am not advocating sexual harassment and am not tying it to this response as that is a different opinion. The black senator v. female senator is all you need to know. I like Obama and hope he wins. I loath Hillary. I also planned to vote for Giuliani............ Of course average women get a pretty good shake...even large very unaverage women get a good shake...they just have to find a guy to push the right buttons. And in a strange ironic twist on the topic, in the case of large white women, a lot of times that guy is a black man. See...no sexism or racism...just love!! All is well...Peace!
