  1. Yes. Let’s stand pat on this deadline and the offseason. I love erosion of talent over time. We’ll need three new starting pitchers next year. We got this!!!
  2. Wonder how much the Reds management is willing to go for it this year. Will they be patient and wait on more from the farm? They are many starting pitchers short of playoff success it appears. But that young offense is very exciting to watch.
  3. It stinks because Clevinger’s injury now thru Allstar game makes him basically impossible to move (even though his off the field crap may have already caused that.) Lance Lynn cannot get his option next year and he has done nothing but make himself a DFA candidate, at best. Joe Kelly way off from his 12 appearances with just 1 ER. He may have a little trade interest, but he peaked in late May. Have to move Giolito, Grandal and Middleton if they can before deadline, at a minimum. Maybe Lopez if he has any perceived value at this point being under 30.
  4. Will Sox management agree that the rebuild failed and do what needs to be done to start replenishing the farm? We don’t even have enough starting arms in AAA and AA to cover the Sox being out with Clevinger AND Kopech now. The well is dry…
  5. Sox sign Ohtani to 10yr $600 million Sox use 25 other $780k Charlotte Knights and Birmingham Barons players on roster $60 million + $19.8 million = $79.8 million. Cost savings. This is easy. Get it done… ?
  6. Even projecting Hahn being fired, I just don’t see JR doing a proper rinse of the organization’s management for it to be effective. Plus, I doubt we get the cream of the crop GM candidates, because they know all about Reinsdorf. Probably only one thing that needs to happen for a full rinse…
  7. I really don’t know what to think about trading and rebuilds. At a minimum, we should trade our 1-year rental assets (Giolito, Grandal, Middleton, Looez and Andrus… if they are tradable… lol). On one hand you could claim it weakens us and we are only 5.5 games out of deplorable Central lead. You could also make the other case that removal of any 1-yr assets on a losing team may not really impact the bottom line of a team that is 12-games below 0.500. Plus any trade of those 1-yr players that possibly returns a controllable Starter close to MLB may help next season. Where I get confused is whether we should try a complete rebuild. I wasn’t there given the state of the Central this year and projecting forward. But the only way we gain actual talent in trades that will help us move forward is considering Robert, Cease, Kopech, etc. guys with length of contract that outperform or at least perform to their contracts. I just have the sense that even if we back into the playoffs somehow this year, it’s going to be a quick elimination. The only thing I know that we all can agree on, is it shouldn’t be Hahn making those decisions at this point.
  8. I hate watching Bummer more than any other relievers, including Lopez.
  9. I bet you he would outrun most of the Sox players to first base, without injuring himself.
  10. Ok. Didn’t hear that one. I probably would have preferred NOT starting Jose Rodriguez’s clock, and would have chosen Yolbert Sanchez instead. But it’s not too egregious now that Sosa is injured.
  11. I just don’t understand these MiLB moves lately. * You call up Scholtens immediately across the Clevinger injury. But you elect to pitch him in relief twice and now have no real starter for tonight. * You call up Remillard, who obviously had a career introductory night. But honestly, he wasn’t even the best option in AAA as an infielder (see Nate Mondou). * Then you elect again to go even deeper with AA call-up Jose Rodriguez, in the midst of a poor 0.238 season, even when Lenyn Sosa is having a better season in AAA. Yes, we know his struggles in MLB across 103 at bats so far. But he has a 0.327 BA and 1.015 OPS. Keep giving him chances. * You call up Nick Padilla, maybe because he’s conveniently on the 40-man (are we scared anyone wants our talent these days?). He is struggling with a 5.09 era in AAA. Why not try 25-yr old Edgar Navarro with a 1.65 era in 21 appearances in AAA?!?
  12. There’s no discussion there… and there’s no discussion on this board. Everyone is numb, sick and bored with the MLB team. if they could just fire Hahn… ?
  13. Starting pitcher Chase Solesky got promoted from AA Birmingham (3-2, 3.23 era). But he was hit hard in his first AAA start last night. Noah Schultz had another 3.0 scoreless innings in Kannapolis (and 7.0 scoreless for the year).
  14. Because everything is so depressing on the MLB team… 2nd round pick in 2020, Jared Kelley has been pretty sporadic in his MiLB career so far. But at Winston Salem, his last 11.2 innings has been scoreless pitching in June. It’s a start at least…. Need some of these high picks to pan out someday. Andrew Dalquist has been deplorable in High A.
  15. Granted, not sure about the defensive comparisons between the two. And we are probably talking about something at the end of the day that amounts to nothing. But Mondou seems to be the better choice over Remillard to me.
  16. Sox Farm Starters Ok… here is our immediate Starters farm (nothing to get excited about) Potentials: Jesse Scholtens, 29 yr, RHP, 5.01 era in 50 AAA starts. Nate Fisher, 27 yr, LHP, 4.69 era in 25 AAA starts. Garrett Davila, 26 yr, LHP, 3.74 era in 6 AAA starts. Struggling Pitchers: Luke Farrell, 32 yr. , RHP, 4.54 era in 64 AAA starts. Struggling this season with 7.89 era. Daniel Ponce de Leon, 31 yr, RHP, 4.24 era in 78 AAA starts. Struggling this season with 9.99 era. Sean Burke, 23 yr, RHP, 9.07 era in 11 AAA starts. Injured Pitchers: Jonathan Stiever, 26 yr, RHP, 5.67 era in 21 AAA starts. Returning from Tommy John Davis Martin, 26 yr, RHP, 5.35 era in 16 AAA starts, Injured , Tommy John
  17. Topic still applies weeks later. With the Central trashed overall, Sox could still trade away 1 or 2 year assets for farm talent and still possibly compete in this horrid division. Any team that wins the Central at this point shouldn’t expect more than a first round elimination.
  18. Wonder besides Graveman, if they should try to give Santos some save opportunities here coming up. Throws 102 mph Makes MLB’s best hitter look silly Sox have control over Santos here for awhile. Gives the Sox more options going forward into next year if he has success there. If not then he becomes a 7th or 8th inning setup guy like he is today, almost. Plus, if this season implodes before the deadline, then Santos’s success in closer role maybe let’s the Sox try trade deals for Graveman, Hendriks, Middleton, and/or Kelly. Just a thought…
  19. The year Dallas Keuchel was DFA after: 8 starts for Sox in 2022, 2-5, 7.88 ERA, 32 innings, 49 hits, 6 HR, 20 Walks, 0.323 batting avg. Lance Lynn in 13 games: 4-6, 6.72 ERA, 72.1 innings, 84 hits, 16 home Runs, 29 walks, 0.285 BA It may not be quite as bad as Keuchel, but the only reasons Lynn hasn’t been DFA’d is the money, the fact that Lynn isn’t a dugout cancer like Keuchel, and the fact that we have no one obviously ready to take over for Lynn. At this point, I am honestly wondering why not give the starts to Scholtens. It doesn’t seem like it could be that bad. Only things lynn give you is he’s an innings eater… but who cares with an ERA like that?!?
  20. They have to win the late DH game to be 2.5 games back. They are currently 3.0 games back.

  22. Sox need to replenish AAA Charlotte with some reclamation projects that are starters. With nobody ready in AAA besides Scholtens and Birmingham AA pitchers shitting the bed, we have no depth.
  23. Judge ran into a breakaway wall in Dodgers stadium making a very nice catch. The wall had a six-inch short wall that collided with his shoe. Rumors he may have a broken toe.
  24. Very lucky to miss starts for Cole and German. For the middle game, the Yanks may be a call-up in Jhony Brito or Randy Vasquez.
