QUOTE(Heads22 @ Nov 17, 2005 -> 12:45 PM) Woo....there are talks that if ISU wins and Texas Tech and OU aren't impressive that ISU could go to the Cotton Bowl. That'd be freaking fantabulous. So would Holiday for that matter. So what's the scenario for them to go to the Alamo?? For Iowa, it's beat minnesota, and have OSU and PSU win their games to secure BCS bids. I imagine ISU needs to win (and that might be it) (but a shellacking at the hands of UT in the Dr. Pepper Bowl could kill their chances once again) I can't see the Holiday and Cotton passing up OU, TT, and CU just to get ISU. There's no cachet surrounding the ISU club. They'll fill the stadium, but the ratings will be crap. What's the #5 bowl for the big 12? I'd say that's a much more likely destination for the Clones. -
QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Nov 18, 2005 -> 03:55 AM) Apparently, the Sox think Brian Anderson is ready to start in center field. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...ack=1&cset=true Grain.of.salt. That's from the same article. Oh No! The Sox may have to rely on one of the best relievers in baseball (2002-2004) as their second lefty! What ever shall we do!?!?

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Nov 17, 2005 -> 11:59 PM) Cubs are also gonna lose a draft pick out of this. LOL. That's funny. Remember, it's is Sabean. And Eyre has not yet been offered Arbitration. Sabean has until Dec. 7 to fill out the paperwork to steal the Cubs pick. I know he'd skip the paper work if he was getting a 1st rounder, but since the Cubs are in the top 15 draft positions, they can't lose their first rounder. Still, unless the Giants are able to lose their top pick somehow, that would be 3 picks(Their first rounder, a sandwich pick, and the Cubs second rounder) in the top 50-some spots.

damn if I wasn't so busy looking at porn I would have beaten Steff. You're too quick. Guess I have to stick with beating myself.

From my days back in the service industry. It was a little bit of Ice. A little bit of Salt. A couple wedges of lemon (squeezed, then tossed into the pot). All in the pot then slosh it around a little. Should take out the bitter burned coffee taste, and remove the staining from the sides too.

If you want to talk about disgraced..... Where is Rowand in performance of the year. He almost singlehandedly beat the Yankees. Where is Uribe in defensive player of the year? Rowand? -- Oh and watch the Orlando Hudson play. That guy is so good. He makes everything look so damn easy. I would love to have him on my team. In fact, he's probably my favorite non-sox player in baseball.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Nov 16, 2005 -> 12:51 PM) Which reminds me....Iowa State is so ridiculously close to 10-0 this year it hurts. Loss to Nebraska.....just slipped away. Loss to Baylor.......not excusable for anyone Loss to Mizzou....shut down Brad Smith but allowed 10 points at the end of the game. Same with Iowa, or I should say 1-loss team for Iowa. The ISU game, if Tate hadn't gone psycho trying to tackle people, I believe that's a completely different game. The Michigan game. Iowa had the ball with about 90 seconds left, down 3, 2nd and 5 from the 15, and ran the ball to the middle of the field to set up the field goal. -- Get the first down you dips***s. you have a chance to win it. Lost in OT. Northwestern -- that was one lucky hop on the Onside kick. 14 points in the final minutes. Ugh. OSU is far superior to Iowa. No way they would have won that game under any circumstances. -
QUOTE(knightni @ Nov 16, 2005 -> 12:39 PM) Wow. Nady is >>>>>Cameron. Cheaper too. I hope that the Pads got something else besides just Cameron for him. I'll give you cheaper, but why is he even > than Cameron, let alone multiple >>>? Nady's entering his age 27 season. He hasn't accomplished s*** at the major league level. '05 was the first season when he was above leage average in OPS+, and that's harldy something to brag about from a 1B. -- Nady is living off of his prospect status and the inflated numbers he put up in the hitter friendly PCL. Meanwhile other real first baseman (like fellow 27 yo Nick Johson) were putting up solid numbers in the MLB. Cameron meanwhile is one of the best defensive CFers in the game, (CF being the position where the most runs stand to be gained/lost on the defensive side of the ball) has power, speed, and a better batting eye than Nady.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Nov 16, 2005 -> 08:29 AM) It doesn't have the same effect as a loss to Iowa State.... I seem to recall a certain team who finished 8th a few years back losing to ISU. -
Rodman to play basketball in NE Iowa
Gene Honda Civic replied to Heads22's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
For more Rodman fun I sugest reading the following three items in order. Part One: Rodman book signing Part Two: Rodman's Agent gets pissy Part Three: Rodman's um, other agent? gets pissy too. -
QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Nov 16, 2005 -> 11:43 AM) On the Padres' board, even though it's just the MLB board, they have a rumor that it's Nady for Cameron. Sounds like the Mets would be getting the best of this one. I think you're underestimating what a healthy Cameron can provide to a team with a big CF. USSMariner noted that Mets pitchers gave up something like 25% fewer Xtra base hits at Shea in the first two years of Cameron compared to the previous years without cameron. They also showed a 10-15% increase in Xtra base hits allowed by Seattle pitching in Cameron's absense. That's substacial. Now weather Cameron is healthy or not is a big question, but otherwise, that's a great fit for SD. I noted in my blog back in May(whenever it was that we played them) that they looked like the best team we had played until that point, and their lone deficiency seemed to be OF defense in that large stadium. Obviously they went on to show a whole lot more holes, but the OF defense was always at the forefront.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Nov 15, 2005 -> 11:20 PM) Looking at ESPN, I count two losses in 03 to top tennage. November 1 No. 4 Michigan L 27-20 7-2 (4-1) November 8 at No. 6 Ohio State L 33-23 7-3 (4-2) The No. 4 and No. 6 are retroactive. That's what they finished at the end of the year (or at least that's what I'm assuming) The statement Josh made is probably 100% accurate. They are 9-1 against the last 10 teams who were in the Top 10 when they played them. Normally a loss to MSU is enough to keep you out of the top 10 for the rest of the year. -
QUOTE(SnB @ Nov 16, 2005 -> 12:42 AM) I've stumbled across this little gem of a program. http://www.3m.com/market/office/postit/com...otes/index.html there's a free basic version somewhere in there. With the right customization (not having it displayed in your toolbar) it's a nice little program if you're like me and always have to make notes of random things. Macs used to have these back in the day. (I assume they still do, but I haven't used one in 8 years or so) Stickies. I used to leave all sorts of "naughty" notes on my friends' dad's computer. I loved getting him in trouble.

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Nov 16, 2005 -> 01:45 AM) I can't believe I know the answer to this question. No, he went from one six-footer to another. One was on the Basketball team, the other on the Volleyball team. /shootmenow Oh, he likes 'em young too. One was a frosh, the other a soph.

QUOTE(3E8 @ Nov 15, 2005 -> 05:41 PM) Is there any truth to the rumor that the Matt from USC that Kristen was dating was Matt Leinart? I can't believe I know the answer to this question. No, he went from one six-footer to another. One was on the Basketball team, the other on the Volleyball team. /shootmenow

Can we get back on topic here folks? My name is Earl is great. I mean who wouldn't want to split a case of luke warm Miller High Life with Earl, Randy, and Crabman on the fake grass in front of their trailer. You could even see who could knock over the pink flamingo lawn ornaments with the bottle caps. Good times. /we're just lucky we got 'em.

Levine says there's a lot of interest in Marte

QUOTE(spiderman @ Nov 15, 2005 -> 10:49 PM) Where am I wrong ? In 2006, you're wrong because Count/Garland plus Marte have a combined salary very close to Delgado's '06 salary. Other than that, your thought was right. (even though Rowand was just kidding) 1) they'll want pitching. They always want pitching. Young, cheap pitching. 2) They'll also probably be looking to dump Lowell. 3) They'll then look to fill their outfield with cheap talent, with Cabrera moving to 3B. -

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Nov 15, 2005 -> 09:30 PM) Marte for Delgado, take it or leave it, Florida. Maybe if they throw in Beckett or Dontrelle. -
Club Fever was where it's at though.

My lone Zero Gravity trip came in HS. I went with a group of girls from St. Viator. I thought escorting a bunch of catholic school girls to a dance club sounded like a good time. WRONG. Live and learn I guess.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Nov 15, 2005 -> 03:55 PM) Here's my random post of the day: http://arizonastate.rivals.com/viewprospec...=1&pr_key=43614 That is the link to 3 star recruit and nationally ranked athlete Kyle Williams, who is heading to Arizona State on a football scholarship. Yeah, the son of White Sox GM Kenny Williams. I'm pretty sure that Ken Jr. was on scholarship at U of A for baseball. (outfield, I think) -- I tried to look it up, but the UoA website is crap. -
Do they call this the circus road trip becuase what invades the United Center every november or becaue the Bulls play like clowns?
