  1. QUOTE($I Need Money$ @ Nov 25, 2005 -> 09:58 PM) He needs another year in the minors. He hit like .180 during his time with us so I wouldn't call him up yet. Carl Everett hit "like .180" during Brian Anderson's time here... What's your point?
  2. QUOTE(KevHead0881 @ Nov 25, 2005 -> 07:10 PM) You know, if you want team that chooses prospects over proven commodities, you can always root for the Royals or D-Rays. or Twins.... They have continually refused to trade anyone prospect of value. They weren't able to get over the top, and are probably primed for a severe downturn in # of victories in the next few years. -- They protected the wrong guys at a point when just giving up a few of them could have put them over the top, but refused.
  3. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Nov 25, 2005 -> 06:34 PM) It's my lucky sweatshirt. Oh, for the love of God, do not blow this. For the second year in a row, they control their destiny in their final game against an inferior opponent. These are the games on which your coach should be judged, not the ability to "play tough" against your non-conference in-state rival.
  4. QUOTE(3E8 @ Nov 25, 2005 -> 04:27 PM) To put this to rest, I'm 100% sure. While I don't know the exact process, I can speak to the method. It's a graduated average of the last three years. say 50% - '05, 35% - '04, 15% - '03. (just an example -- I don't know the exact algorithm) that is then corrected for age (younger players tend to get better, older players worse) type of player (Power pitchers, sluggers, and speedsters all age differently) and park. That it looks simply like an average of two years is a coincidence more than anything.
  5. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Nov 25, 2005 -> 01:44 PM) I think he's out there. Its too bad he hasn't been healthy in forever (consistently healthy). The guy is a tremendous offensive player. Well once they sign Furcal, they are going to be a force within the division....
  6. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Nov 25, 2005 -> 12:43 PM) We'll see next year. All Rowand had was his jumps, but he also played closed to the wall so he wasn't able to get to balls hit to shallow/mid CF. You're 100% correct.... If only Rowand had been playing shallower on these two plays
  7. QUOTE(3E8 @ Nov 24, 2005 -> 08:25 PM) Was the audio and video not in sync for anyone else? about a half second off the hole time for me.
  8. QUOTE(mac9001 @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 11:27 PM) I don't really understand how this can be a positive trade? Thome had a no-trade clause and was apparently only willing to accept a trade to the White Sox and Indians, the Tribe didn't want him, so effectively the White Sox were the only team in the running for Thome. It seems to me if Kenny Williams had waited for a few more months the Phillies would have been more desperate and the Sox wouldn't have to part with two top-tier prospects. I see this trade as a lack of patience from Willimas that cost him more than would have been necessary to acquire Thome. What makes you think the Tribe didn't want him. They had offered a package centered around Coco Crisp.
  9. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 08:21 PM) I assume the Sox would be able to move Fabio onto the 40 and protect him now? Sox won't go after anyone in the Rule V though. It would make no sense. A contending team isn't going to keep someone on the roster for the entire season. Of course they would have the option of eventually trading for the player, but I still find that very unrealistic. No. PTBNLs can even be major leaguers if they are in different leagues. Also, I don't think the Sox can add Castro because their roster only contained 39 at the deadline. I can't imagine baseball would allow them to add Castro after the deadline (even though a spot was open at the deadline) now that they have made a trade.
  10. It's Haigwood and Gio, with Haigwood being the PTBNL. Haigwood is on the 40 man roster. Tossing him into the trade right away means that Philly would have less flexibility with the upcoming Rule 5 draft. Once that mess is all straigtened out, Haigwood/Gio will be made official.
  11. Lost in all the Thome talks.... Bruce Levine says the Sox are not at all interested in Juan Pierre.
  12. I support this topic. /Department of Redundancy Department
  13. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 03:48 PM) There's a case involving the Cubs and White Sox on Judge Mathis right now. keep us updated.. Like if Mr. T comes out and say "I pity tha fool" or something. Maybe "it's peanutbutter and Jelly time"
  14. QUOTE(Athomeboy_2000 @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 02:46 PM) http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/players/4762/s...er&type=Batting G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI BB K SB CS AVG vs. CWS 122 420 87 124 22 2 41 107 80 125 3 1 .295 .406 .650 1.056 Yeah, but he doesn't get to face Jim Parque anymore
  15. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 02:43 PM) Not if his '06 is anything like his '04. If that is the case his value will be 100X what it is right now IMO. There was a perfect storm of teams seeking CFers this year. Yankees, Boston, SD, Cubs, Phillies, etc... I don't think you'll see teams with the assets of those all in the market for a CFer in the same year for a while.
  16. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 02:25 PM) I wonder who the prospect is. A Chris Young? This would hurt more than the loss of Rowand
  17. Here's one I wrote a few weeks ago. The asignment was to write a haiku about Wrigley. House of broken dreams That's okay, baseball's champs play just eight miles away
  18. I'll be lovin' you (forever) NKoTB
