QUOTE(FGarcia34 @ Dec 3, 2005 -> 05:54 PM) Well considering Zito is making 5.6 million now, what is to say he wouldnt accept a 3 year 24-27 million dollar offer? So your thinking is. Since Jon Garland declined our lowball offer, we should trade him for a better pitcher and see if he'll accept a lowball offer? :shortbus:

f***, if Garcia was "tired", I say make him run a few miles before every game. He's been notorious in a Sox uniform for allowing a big first inning. Maybe being a little tired helps him. I think people are forgetting how dominant he looked in Game 4. You remember, that game where the Sox won it all. 0 runs, and I wasn't ever really worried about a run scoring. If that's how he pitches at the end of the season, well, sign him up to pitch as many games as he can in the WBC.

I wonder if Heads is mad that he can't watch his team get beat down on a national stage today. -
All your caps are belong to Boras.

QUOTE(DePloderer @ Dec 3, 2005 -> 02:50 PM) I'll cut to the chase. My wife arranged for a "free" carpet clean that we had "won". Along comes a fella with a Kirby vac and cleans our carpets, does a great job. Then the hard sell (FYI I've been in sales for 20+ years myself) the opening price was £3000+ after much back and forth his "boss" (via telephone) offered a returned one for £450, he left without a sale. We bought a Dyson for £250, this was four years ago and it has never failed. While I agree the Kirby is the best vacuum cleaner made, who in their right mind would spend that kind of money on something to clean the carpet? Yeah, what's it gonna cost you to completely replace the carpet? 588-2300 next day new carpet.

Dear lord, If I ever get to the point where I'm so concerned about the performance of my vacuum that I put a post on an internet message board, please strike me down. I've obviously lost the will to live. Signed, The Cheat

QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Dec 2, 2005 -> 06:32 PM) I'm almost at 6 bucks in less that 2 weeks. costs me $12 to host, and I have less than 1k hits. There are plenty of caveats... I attract the same loyal few hundred viewers daily. They refresh often, and have developed ad-blindness.(I don't fault them for this. In fact, I'm glad. I dislike ads too. So the people who click the text ads on my site are almost exclusively one-time visitors) The ads are also generally pushed down the page by higher paying advertisements. Lastly, I've learned that the category White Sox is a very poor performing keyword in terms of CPC.

You need massive amounts of page views to actually make money. I had 50K page views for the month of November, and made enough to cover my hosting with enough left over to buy me a value meal at McDonalds.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Dec 1, 2005 -> 11:32 PM) That's f'n awesome. I think I'm asking for $30 bucks or whatever for a BP Premium account. It'd be another nifty stat site to look at. Good luck finding a guy with more AB's than Anderson who faced a tougher group of pitchers. I don't think he exists.

QUOTE(Frank the Tank 35 @ Dec 1, 2005 -> 11:22 PM) Ooo, good stat. I forgot all about the fact that he was facing elite lefties like Santana, etc. http://www.baseballprospectus.com/statisti...x.php?cid=54585

QUOTE(hi8is @ Dec 1, 2005 -> 10:17 PM) white sox interactive users must be on crack because they are speculating YOUNG and NEAL COTTS for pierre LMAO duhhhhhhhhh I want to punch that website in the face right now.... I can hear it now.. "But Young strikes out a lot"... "But Cotts walks too many people" The only thing that makes me angrier is this 30-something page thread.

.231/.301/.360 The collective batting line allowed this season by the pitchers Brian Anderson faced. In short, he saw nothing but all-star pitchers.

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Dec 1, 2005 -> 05:06 PM) Maybe if he was a f/a this off-season yes... but look at all the other f/a pitchers available next season.... there are a lot on that list who are higher and going to be more fought over than Garland. If he pulls out another season like this ill be worried but right now im just focusing on this season. WHO? Garland, Zito, and Mulder (assuming they all pitch effectively and remain healthy this season) are the only pitchers young enough and healthy enough for a team to offer more than 4 years to. There will be ZERO other comparable pitchers entering their age 27 season on the market. Pitchers peak at age 27-29, when most of them are still under their draft teams control via the reserve clause. -- There will be a huge market for a proven commodity who has a reasonable chance of improving. AGE may be the single biggest factor working in Garland's favor.

Now I'm mad

This thread is missing one of my replies.... Any reason? -
Things I've learned in this thread: Jeckle has the best handle on Garland's value given the current financial market. Most people have no clue how much a 26 yo pitcher with Jon's resume is worth.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 1, 2005 -> 11:48 AM) I'd say we've been better off lately with our arms picked in the late rounds than in the early rounds, wouldn't you? Our starting rotation next year should have 2 guys we drafted, 1 in the 17th round and 1 in the 38th round. DRAFT.AND.FOLLOW. These are hardly guys who got paid like late rounders.

This just in: Instead of the usual tip off from center court, the next time the Bulls and Knicks square off New York will begin by shooting their 50+ free throws (amount to be determined by the roll of five 24-sided dies) 15 minutes before the scheduled tipoff.

I once f***ed Natalie Portman. And took pictures. But the guy who took them never emailed them to me.

QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Nov 30, 2005 -> 11:23 PM) but why fix what is broken? That is exactly the lesson the cubs will learn when they don't resign Jeromy Burnitz. He put up decent numbers for decent money. He was a great guy in the clubhouse, why mess with that. Why pay more for somebody who you don't know will be as good in the clubhouse and outproduce him by all that much. Rightfielders with .322 OBPs do grow on trees
-
He should climb the ladder post some solid fricken numbers, and be used to help fill some holes via trade at the ASB.
