  1. QUOTE(Mercy! @ Dec 22, 2005 -> 05:21 PM) I may not be understanding what you mean. Do you know this person? Are you really making fun of this 7th grade girl? Or just her bat mitzvah? Or do you just get off on posting stuff about 7th grade girls? How old are you? Yes. I AM making fun of the 7th grade girl. -- This video is a stereotype of the JAP. Just like this is a stereotype of the ghetto It's funny. I'm 9, but I'm advanced for my age. If you're Jewish and feeling persecuted, well, too bad. That was funny, and even a little sad if you picture her dad following her around with the video camera and spending a few hours editing the video.
  2. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Dec 22, 2005 -> 05:04 PM) Who has a website of their Bar-Mitzvah? Its a bat mitzvah. Show some respect. The answer is Jessie Fryman. Though the domain name is registered to Sid Vanderpool Twin Falls , Idaho 83303 He is also the registrant of BIGBOYSENTERTAINMENT who is putting on this little soirée. I love that there's a 13 year old jewish girl from Northbrook singing "if I was a rich girl" and talking about her world tour.
  3. http://jessiesbatmitzvah.com/index.html -- Explore the site. http://www.jessiesbatmitzvah.com/DVD.wmv-- Watch the music video!!! I'm so going... Who else is gonna crash the partay with me?
  4. QUOTE(WinninUgly @ Dec 22, 2005 -> 04:19 PM) What happens if Crede rejects the Sox "reasonable offer"? They go to an arb hearing. How much do you think the Sox are willing to pay Crede for a one year deal? I don't think you understand how arbitration works. The player and agent submit a $ Figure. The team submits a $ figure. The arbitrator decides on one or the other. There is no in between. There is no leverage to be had by making outrageous demands. You will lose your arbitration hearing. -- The arbitrator looks at what similar players (within one year of service time) are making compared to the player in question when making his decision. This isn't an open market situation. It's a "what are other players like you" making situation. Boras has almost zero effect on this process. In his first year of arbitration, Crede's looking at making about $2M. If Boras presents a figure that's at all close to that, there will be no hearing. And if he presents an unreasonably high figure, the Sox will laugh at him, and go to arbitration, where Crede will make about $2M. -- What you often see happen is the two sides present their figures to each other, and meet in the middle so everyone is happy. This would have to happen before the hearing though.
  5. QUOTE(WinninUgly @ Dec 22, 2005 -> 04:13 PM) Yeah, but the Sox hate going to Arb hearings, and you know Borass will do that every year to try and squeeze every penny out of them. I figure if they have to go thru one this year, 2006 will be Joe's last on the Sox. The Sox don't go to arb hearings. They meet all reasonable offers. Boras has no leverage in this situation. They will, at the very least, work out 1-year deals for each of the next two years. Boras is such a non-factor here. You guys are making a mountain out of a molehill.
  6. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Dec 22, 2005 -> 04:08 PM) Crede's not a free agent until after the 2008 season? This is correct. 2006 = First year of Arbitration 2007 = 2nd " " " 2008 = 3rd " " " It's not until 2008 that Crede is in the same boat as Garland.
  7. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Dec 22, 2005 -> 04:03 PM) If I had to guess, Crede will be this team's starting third baseman in 2006; he'll be involved in rumors around the trade deadline and will be playing baseball in another city in 2007. Oh, and he's not a free agent until after the 2008 season... You keep him, despite his agent, until Fields Schnurstein PROVES he's ready to play. /Fixed.
  8. If MLB is McDonalds, then Timo was the Hamburgler. That guy was a thief.
  9. QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Dec 21, 2005 -> 05:22 PM) Not if I could possibly spend it with Joey Cora and Ozzie Guillen...... Guillen practices Santaria, you better hide your pet chicken.
  10. QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Dec 21, 2005 -> 05:22 PM) Not if I could possibly spend it with Joey Cora and Ozzie Guillen...... Guillen practices Santaria, you better hide your pet chicken.
  11. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 21, 2005 -> 04:20 PM) Personally, if I were in KW's seat, sometime this winter I'd try calling up MB's agent & saying "We've got mark for 2 years right now at a bargain price, what do you think about turning that into 5 years?" That's essentially what I was saying, and KW may do just that. Trading Garland would precede that action though.
  12. QUOTE(Steve Bartman's my idol @ Dec 21, 2005 -> 04:12 PM) Let me ask...IF garland is worth $9mill per, what's Buehrle worth? $15mill? $17mill? This is why you trade Garland. -- Nobody is going to debate that Garland is better than Buehrle. We have to keep MB beyond '07. The Sox should extend MB instead of picking up his '07 option. He'll easily be worth $9+M he's scheduled to make. They should extend him for 4/52 or something like that. 4/52 is much better spent on MB than say the 5/55 it would take to lock Garland up right now.
  13. QUOTE(Steve Bartman's my idol @ Dec 21, 2005 -> 03:48 PM) No...but he was a free agent! "Apples and oranges" Congratulations. Your baseball I.Q. now qualifies you to ride the short bus.
  14. Players and Agents come in with a $ amount. The team comes in with a $ amount. The agent and player present their case about how they are so clutch and they deserve lots of bank. The team presents their case that the player smells and grounds into too many double plays. The Arbiter picks either the players $ amount or the team's $ amount. This wont affect Crede. He'll sign a one year deal. The Sox don't go to arbitration if they can help it. In fact, I can't remember the last time they participated in an arbitration hearing. Garland has a chance to go to arb, because the Sox might be pissed, and would be trading him anyway. We'll see though. In general, the Sox try to avoid it because it's an ugly process where you tell a player to their face that they're not worth the money. and they smell.
  15. QUOTE(heirdog @ Dec 21, 2005 -> 10:57 AM) This news came out a while ago (not the article but the fact that Owens left the league). He left when he was put on the 40-man roster in order to rest up and prepare for spring training. Cora and the Sox thought continuing to play in the league would best prepare him and kind of be an extended spring training look but Owens felt otherwise. He knows his body best and after a long season in the minors, I think he could use a little time off before returning for spring training. I don't think it will be a grudge held by the White Sox brass but you never know with Ozzie and KW. That was Charles Haeger. Owens had continued to play after he was added. Owens was still there... Looking at the leagues homepage, it appears that they may be in the playoffs right now. http://www.lvbp.com/ I can't read spanish, but I see the word playoff. And if they're not about to finish up with their playoffs... Let's be honest here, it's 4 days until Christmas. With all the stories you've heard about Venezuela, would you want to spend the Holidays there? f*** no. You'd go home to be with your family and hope you don't get carjacked on the way to the airport.
  16. QUOTE(heirdog @ Dec 21, 2005 -> 11:00 AM) There is a slightly longer thread (about 5 posts) in the palehose talk. He left when he was put on the 40-man in order to rest and prepare for Spring Training. Cora saw this as an extended spring training but Owens probably just needed to rest for awhile after a long season in the minors and then this league, and then spring training and another season. That was Charles Haeger. Owens had continued to play after he was added. Owens was still there... Looking at the leagues homepage, it appears that they may be in the playoffs right now. http://www.lvbp.com/ And if they're not about to finish up with their playoffs... 17. QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Dec 21, 2005 -> 12:14 AM) Garland stays as does the other 5 and we use a 6 man rotation that includes McCarthy. Garland will sign an extension with the Sox. I have the inside scoop/ I don't believe this for a second. It would take 4/40 to even get Garland to think about signing right now.
  18. The funniest thing about this deal is that a ton of people predicted this almost a year ago.

  20. QUOTE(southsideirish @ Dec 20, 2005 -> 03:46 PM) You can trade non-tendered players? I thought that if you non-tendered them then they were basically free to negotiate with other teams. I didn't know the team still had rights to you. I have no idea how this works, that is why I am asking. I believe he was refering to trading players who were likely to be non-tendered. You're correct, upong their non-tendering they are free-agents. albiet free agents who are still subject to arbitration if they haven't reached their 6th full season.
  21. I think he's negotiating a 3-year deal back with Nippon.
  22. QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Dec 20, 2005 -> 02:17 PM) Being a Pads fan.. I LOVE THIS FA_KING deal.. Gonz should be up by end of this year or 07. Eaton IMO is going to get eaten alive pitching in Texas.. If the Pads get this for eaton just think what we can get for Garland. GOnz to Boston 4 Wells
  23. QUOTE(whitesoxin' @ Dec 19, 2005 -> 11:46 PM) Nothing pisses me off more than some random asswipe that I don't even know coming to my house and pissing on my truck in the middle of the night. I suppose the only reason you know about this is when you woke up in the morning to find him frozen, stream of urine connecting penis to truck. Damn, it's f***ing cold.
