  1. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Nov 28, 2005 -> 05:44 PM) Well, at least last year...Washington was probably a better hitting park than Oakland, at least if you take the park factor points without analysis ??? Do you know how to read these park factors? Oakland had 1.2% more runs scored than the average park, and had almost 9% more HRs than the average park. RFK had 14% fewer runs scored, and 22% fewer HRs than the average park.
  2. QUOTE(Randar68 @ Nov 28, 2005 -> 05:43 PM) Nick Swisher has had a comparable path to the majors as Brian Anderson, true. Yet, Swisher hit .230 in his half-season in AA and then followed it up with a .269 BA in AAA the next year. He was a .261 career minor league hitter and follwed all that up by hitting .236 in his first full year in the majors. Anderson hit .270 in his injury-plagued partial-season in AA, followed it up by hitting .295 in AAA with a career .301 minor league average, and we'll see what he's able to do in the majors next year. Based on average differentials in the performance paths of Anderson and Swisher, it's more than fair to project a .270 season from Anderson. Agreed, but I don't see Anderson walking as much as Swisher... I see their OPS production to be strikingly similar.

  4. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Nov 27, 2005 -> 11:41 PM) "It's not his, it belongs to a friend" - What Irvin claims Leon Lett anyone?
  5. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Nov 27, 2005 -> 02:57 PM) I'd say there is a little bit of a chance that Viz gets non-tendered but I do doubt that. Yeah, that's an option. I don't have any handle on what he would be due at arbitration, but the Sox would likely sign him to a 1-year contract, then trade him for a borderline prospect, than lose him for nothing by being non-tendered.
  6. QUOTE(TLAK @ Nov 27, 2005 -> 02:49 PM) Ok, who gets cut? Buehrle, Contreras, Garcia, Garland, Hermanson, Marte, Politte, Cotts, Jenks or Vizcaino. Marte or Vizcaino. And Neither is likely to be cut. They'll be part of a trade.
  7. QUOTE(Leonard Zelig @ Nov 27, 2005 -> 02:48 PM) How much time is left? I'd say we have 18 more comercials left, and 5 more plays
  8. We're about to find out what happens when you have to ask Kyle Orton to win you a game.
  9. QUOTE(TLAK @ Nov 27, 2005 -> 02:26 PM) At $4.5 million El Duque will be on the team unless his arm falls off. Maybe Man Soo can teach him some Korean, cuz he's not going to be in the rotation.
  10. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Nov 27, 2005 -> 01:48 PM) Its enforced from the spot of the foul. So the dips*** who was holding at the Bears 48 when the ball is bouncing around at the Bucs 45 needs to be s***canned.
  11. Why does a holding penalty on a punt that is downed at the Bucs 45 end up with the bears getting possesion at their own 38?
  12. QUOTE(Felix @ Nov 27, 2005 -> 11:27 AM) Thats the only reason ND will be in a BCS bowl. and, even as an ND hater, I accept that. What I hate is, if the Irish have an agreement with the Big East about bowl games, whereas the Irish can be picked over other Big East schools, why the hell is there going to be a Big East team getting an automatic BCS bid? How many years in a row now are we complaining that the Big East's BCS representitive is by far the weakest, and seems to be there over more deserving clubs? Get them the f*** out of the BCS. 5 conferences, and 3 at large.
  13. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Nov 26, 2005 -> 09:58 PM) Worst day in ISU history. Last weekend in march of 2001 was worse. I'm sure the apology letter from the NCAA is framed somewhere though.
  14. If only we had a 38 page thread for this...
  15. Yeah, It's not an indictment of the Universities so much as it is the program that approves people to live in section 8 housing. The kids aren't actually doing anything illegal. Unethical, maybe. Still, it looks really bad when your the coach of a big time program and your son is living in federally subsadized housing.
  16. This doesn't sound good. Virginia Tech and Nebraska were also implicated in similar scandals. -- OTL will have a special on this Sunday.
  17. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Nov 26, 2005 -> 03:33 PM) I hope to hell Oregon doesn't find a way to get an extra BCS game. The only way I see an extra BCS game for the Pac 10 is if UCLA upsets USC (I can't wait for next week for that game). Who would get the automatic bid in that scenario? -- A loss by USC would devalue the Ducks loss to USC and they would all finsih with the same record. -- I'm pretty sure only one of them would get in.
  18. Man I'm almost hoping for a OSU/ND fiesta bowl, so that the Pac -10 doesn't get an extra at-large, and for some strange reason the Alamo to take a flier on NW or Minn over Iowa. That would set up a Iowa/UCLA game in the Sun bowl. That would be a game!
  19. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Nov 26, 2005 -> 03:23 PM) Yup, keep aiming for Fort Worth. Yes, Iowa State will be Houston. I could see Colorado in the Holiday, Oklahoma vs. Iowa in the Alamo. Why would the Holiday pass on Oklahoma, who actually wasn't that bad this year, in favor of Colo? I've got a Colo/Iowa match up in the Alamo, assuming the Fiesta is OSU/ND. -- That's an underwhelming match-up to me. I'd expect Iowa to roll. That's an underwhelming matchup for the Alamo too. That would be 2 unranked teams.
  20. What does this mean for the Big 12 bowl picture? Texas = Rose Texas Tech = Cotton Oklahoma = Holiday Colorado = Alamo Iowa State? = Houston
  21. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Nov 26, 2005 -> 02:43 PM) Lou Holtz just lisped that "Iowa State is now the dominant program in the state of Iowa" Man, I miss Trev Alberts. He would have told it like it is. He would have said something like "shame on you Iowa state. 2 years in a row you had a chance to go to the Big 12 championship game with a win in your final game against an inferior opponent, and twice you've looked like a 4th rate program." "The dominant program in the state of Iowa" what a joke. In the last 4 years Iowa has had two opportunities to tie for Big Ten title with a win in their final game, the result? 2-0. One against a top 10 team, neither of them were even close.
