Come up with a Sox Trade
Timo Perez for ...... Who am I kidding, ANYONE.

Anyone going to the Sox-Brewers games?
One thing I don't like about the park -- It really is a ball mall -- When you leave your seats , you are completely disconnected from the action on the field. At comiskey, it's an open atmosphere(on the lower level). You never feel like you leave the game at all.

Race Card
I was referring to Jesse Jackson, not Elder. I don't know enough about Elder to say anything.

Race Card
I saw the words Jesse Jackson and I stopped reading. That guy plays the race card so often for his own personal gain it's sickening.

Catch-All Anything Thread
I DL'ed The Bourne Supremecy a from somewhere :wink last week. I didn't watch it right away or even check to see if it was the right movie. So Tonight I make myself some popcorn and get set to watch it, only the whole thing is in Russian or something (I didn't stick around to find out) -- Just wanted to share that.

Next Player you think the Sox will get
Here's something I can see -- Cora drew 10 intentional walk last year beacuse he was batting in the #8 hole ahead of such offensive powerhouses as Jeff Weaver and Odalis Perez. Cora's (non-intentional)walk rate was 47 in 484 plate appearences, or 1 every 10.3 PAs Harris' (non-intentional)walk rate was 51 in 472 plate appearences, or 1 every 9.25 PAs

Weird Quirks?
QUOTE(KipWellsFan @ Jan 12, 2005 -> 11:58 PM) Drunk on a Wednesday night? I'm pretty sure he's a UofI student -- They had a home BBall game tonight(well last night now) Sobriety is probably hard to find in C/U tonight.

Weird Quirks?
I'm a terrible car passenger --- I have an overwhelming cumpulsion to open the door while the car is moving. I have to always keep the door locked, and if it's one of those that will open anyways, remind myself not to pull too hard on the lever. -- I'm fine when I'm driving though, I guess it's a control issue

Schoeneweis vs Hermanson
QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Jan 12, 2005 -> 03:00 PM) This is becoming laughable. You obviously don't like the fact that as a RP in 04 Hermanson outperformed Schow as a RP in 03. Lemme see -- Hermanson 04 in the pen -- 4.33 ERA in an NL pitchers park for everybody not named bonds Schoeneweis 03 in the pen -- 4.18 ERA in the AL in hitters parks. Nope you're still wrong. Keep trying though.

Schoeneweis vs Hermanson
QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Jan 12, 2005 -> 01:30 AM) Here we go again. What is most important for a RP is not surrendering runs. That's there job. If they need to walk a guy to get that job done so be it. Herm RP 0R 23, 1R 2, 2R 2, 4R 2 He failed 6 out of 29 appearances. I would call that effective. You can scale that to 12 out of 60 to see just how much. SSch RP 03: 0r 39, 1r 10, 2r 7, 3r 1, 4r 2 He failed 20 out of 59 appearances. I don't know if I would call that effective. Traslation: 2002-2004 as a reliever: Hermanson: 5.61ERA -- mostly in the NL/pitching parks Schoeneweis: 3.95ERA -- mostly in the AL/hitters parks Yep Hermanson did a great job of not surrendering runs

Schoeneweis vs Hermanson
QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Jan 12, 2005 -> 01:10 AM) SScho: 0r 0, 1r 3, 2r 2, 3r 4, 4r 4, 5r 3, 6r 1, 8r 1, 9r 1 9 qs, 4 nqs, 6 bad starts. 13-6 split. But he went down Aug 4. A 4 month player. The guy has been plagued by injuries his whole career. If you use him as a starter he won't last. If you use him as a reliever he's not as effective. For someone who keeps spitting out stats you sure do miss the big picture an awful lot. Not as effective as a reliever? 3.95ERA .249BAA from the pen compared with 5.48ERA .283BAA as a starter (last 3 seasons)-- Seems to me that he's much more effective as a reliever. Plus he's got a career WHIP and BAA of 1.19 and .237 respectively, against lefties -- I'd say that he'd make a very effective LOOGY.

Schoeneweis vs Hermanson
QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Jan 11, 2005 -> 11:50 PM) Hey just because you don't understand that a starter's value is equal to runs surrendered per start (quality vs poor starts) is no reason to get upset. Yes Jon pitches in the much tougher AL & at the Cell. Ok, I'll grant you that. It's as good a reason to explain his mediocrity as anything else. So wait -- was it Hermanson's 7 quality starts last season -- a qaulity start percentage of 39% compared to Garlands 16 quality starts -- a quality start percentage of 48% -- That must be what you are talking about. Or maybe it was Hermanson's 2 quality starts in 2003 -- qaulity start percentage of 33% Or that he only started one game while sucking it up for the BoSox -- In the last three seasons Hermanson has 9 quality starts -- Garland had 16 just last season, and 47 for the last three seasons --- If it's R/S that you value, Garland is the clear winner.

Schoeneweis vs Hermanson
My stats, which are corrected for Park factors and League, are meaningless? Yet you butcher the f*** out of wins shares all day.. Inexplicably chop up the season into month increments, and all together just pull s*** out your ass throw it up on the wall and call it a stat -- I guess you are just tired.

Schoeneweis vs Hermanson
QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Jan 11, 2005 -> 10:51 PM) If you get a chance check out the win share thread. Hermie's #'s as a starter are better than both Garland's & Schow's. He spent 1/2 of last yr as a SP for the Brew crew. No they're not -- He played for the Giants, and Garland is better. Hermanson as a starter in 2004 -- 4.58ERA where the league average would be expected to be 4.44 -- 97 ERA+ Garland as a starter in 2004 -- 4.82ERA where the league average would be expected to be 4.89 -- 101 ERA+ Garland IP/start = 6.57 Hermanson IP/start = 5.78
