I think Minnesota seceded from the Union.

I don't think he'll ever be in the rotation again... He's got an Eldred-type injury. Also I don't think he'll start off the season with any team. I think he's got some more rehab time to put in.

Iguchi very close to signing a 2 yr deal?

Yeah, I was wrong on the exact number -- 55 is the record... I was just going off the top of my head. -

QUOTE(3E8 @ Jan 22, 2005 -> 04:21 PM) Iguchi's AB/HR figures: 1997: 27.125 1998: 20.048 (full season) 1999: 26.429 2000: 23.143 2001: 18.400 (full season) 2002: 23.778 2003: 19.074 (full season) 2004: 21.250 (full season) When healthy, you can see these numbers for Iguchi are quite impressive considering he plays in a pitchers park with high fences. He will help make up for lost power in Maggs, Lee, and Thomas (half of season). Konerko averaged a home run about every 14 AB's last year and Lee every 19 AB's. That was playing half their games in Coors east. Now I'm not sure if a pitcher's park in Japan is like a hitter's park in the States, or just how drasticly different the talent level is. But you'd think he'd provide at least some power numbers from the 2B position, which we haven't seen for awhile. Tuffy Rhodes holds the HR record in Japan. -- Yes that Tuffy Rhodes Matsui hit 55 HR's in his season before hitting the YAnks. He now has 47 in over 1200 at bats on this side of the Pacific. HR #'s don't traslate very well. -
let me see. They all play their own instruments. Check. They all write their own music. Check They can sing. Check Maybe they're not your cup of tea, but they clearly aren't appraoching the Ashlee Simpson level of suckitude.

I got a call about 20 minutes ago from my GF -- it's snowed about 8 inches here since she got to work... She was gonna stay ova here anyway tonight, but a little while ago she called and said she didn't want to clean off her car, could I come pick her up.... I did. I'm an idiot.

Hmmmm... Should I pick the team who has won the division each of the last three seasons and finished higher than the sox in each of the last 4, or a team who hasn't posted a winning record in the Wild-Card era. Nah where's the Cubs???

QUOTE(TLAK @ Jan 21, 2005 -> 07:00 PM) From JapaneseBaseball.com forums Don't think I saw this posted. I usually don't quote message boards but this includes a quote from a newspaper. I believe that report is the genesis for the other 7 page iguchi thread we've got going today -- I traslated the Japanese version using googles language tools to comical results. I like where is calls his agent Richard the moth person... his real name is Richard Moss. --- All I can picture is Mothra and Godzilla duking it out on the streets of Tokyo. -
Weebles wobble but they don't fall down.

I'm definately not sold on iguchi OBP's 1999 -- age 25 -- .310 2000 -- age 26 -- .317 2001 -- age 27 -- .346 2002 -- age 28 -- .317 2003 -- age 29 -- .438 2004 -- age 30 -- .394 Which of those numbers are we supposed to belive, the ones hovering around .300 or those of the last 2 seasons? -

I forgot about TangoTigers scouting report by the fans, for the fans -- http://www.tangotiger.net/scouting/scoutResults2004.html -- But it further enforces my belief that Rowand should be in Center. Here's how the two ranked. Player Age GP Overall Position-Neutral Instincts FirstStep Speed Hands Release Strength Accuracy Ballots Agreement Level Rowand, Aaron 27 122 70 71 74 71 66 67 69 67 17 0.79 Podsednik, Scott 28 151 44 31 53 83 35 36 22 39 11 0.46 Rowand is in the top 20% in every defensive category. The agreement level is very low for Podsednik, but across the board his numbers are worse than rowands. The low agreement means that some people rate him very high, while others rate him low (see Jeter/Valentin)

QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jan 20, 2005 -> 08:32 PM) W I said it was going to be a tough one. I called this earlier this week. Kam's and the Illini: a winning combination. Perfection Continues (at least for one more game, now up to the KC). Eat it. Kam's, it's second semester. Even freshman shouldn't be going there anymore -

QUOTE(retro1983hat @ Jan 20, 2005 -> 11:11 AM) I have tried to breakdown those pseudo celebrities in the Chicago area and I think I can determine which baseball team in town they root for. CUBS Barry Rozner (Daily Herald columnist) Yeah, he grew up going to Comiskey, working as a vendor because he was a Cubs fan. :rolly

I'm pretty sure Greasy linked to the thread I was going to. Here's the best one by far --- Best 1-2 combo in the bigs http://photos.imageevent.com/dreamkast/mlbb/fed.bg.jpg I'll leave this on the main page rather than moving it so that more people will see it.
