White Sox vs. Indians, 4/14/07 (L)
Gene Honda Civic replied to ShoeLessRob's topic in 2007 Season in Review
QUOTE(beautox @ Apr 14, 2007 -> 02:06 PM) Brian would've had that. Nah. If Brian pulled up like Erstad did on that play, he would have been "lollygagin' it" according to hawk. But Erstad did everything right. -

QUOTE(Capn12 @ Apr 14, 2007 -> 12:49 PM) I agree DA, its not that I mind grindErstad being on the team for what he makes salary-wise, but whats the point of him playing everyday, when BA could put the same numbers up, play better defense, and get the work he needs if hes ever going to develop a better approach at the plate. You have to play him everyday so that he can accumulate 600 PA and automatically cost us $6M next year. -
Anyone else watching the C*bs implode?

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 13, 2007 -> 05:22 PM) Come on. Narron sucks and even he can make basic managing 101 moves. -
I assumed you knew how to query the database. (I don't know how to use access, write scrips, so don't ask me) Seems like way too much work for far too little payoff.

Cotts looked good. His control is as good or better than it ever was here, and he's reintroduced his changeup to his repertoire. You'll remember that was the pitch that continually got him in trouble in '04. He dropped it in '05, and was suddenly very effective. Anyway he was locating it at the bottom of the zone where it couldn't hurt him, but could change the batters eye. I also saw one loopy curveball dropped over for a strike at about 76MPH. He only threw a mid-80's pitch that I called a slurve when he was here. He'll be very effective this season if he can continue to pitch like I saw today. -
QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Apr 13, 2007 -> 11:54 AM) I believe the more appropriate question is why we drafted Broadway instead of Carrillo. Or last year with McCulloch instead of Pedro Beato. Far as I'm concerned, the members of Soxtalk -- with far less scouting -- have made better first round selections than the professionals for two straight seasons. You can go back to Lucy vs. Suzuki too.

17K in 16 innings. 3 hits. last outing only 1 ball reached the outfield.

I think it's hypocritical. Imus has been doing the African American athletes are monkeys shtick for years. What changed in the last week? Exposure that's it. Imus was making Advertisers, MSNBC, & CBS money with his crap for years. Making a small fortune off of racist jokes is OK, but getting huge exposure for doing the same thing apparently isn't alright.

I see the name of this thread has changed. Nice. No reason to have an accurately titled thread.

Scouting report on A's Gaudin anyone?

QUOTE(joeynach @ Apr 10, 2007 -> 10:57 AM) Here is ESPN.com profile for Gaudin. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/profile?playerId=5627 The only thing you can take are his career stats because this guy has mainly pitched out of the pen for a few teams over his career. Here they are along with ESPN's projections. The only real interesting thing I can take is that in 164 career ML innings he has given up 19 hrs, 80 walks, and 104 K's. It equates to about 2 BB, 1.55 K's. and 1 HR per 9 Innings. Come On People. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to catch this math error. His K rate is higher than Garland's. -
AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!

QUOTE(Felix @ Apr 7, 2007 -> 10:06 PM) I know the odds of this are slim to none, but anyone have this on their computer (youtube or something)? I hope to make it to the Cell sometime later this summer, but its too early to tell. You might be in luck in a couple weeks. They'll have some extra time to fill with the new 7:11 start times, so those extra 4 minutes might be filled with something like that. If it is, it'll be up on Youtube within hours. -

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Apr 7, 2007 -> 05:18 PM) Did he throw any sliders in that sequence? And follow-up question, exactly how good is his new slider? Zero. It was about a 40-45 on the 20-80 scale last year. A below average pitch that he couldn't throw for strikes with regularity. He looked to have much better command of it in Atlanta, and I would have graded it as an above average pitch from what I saw there. We haven't really seen it during the regular season though. -

QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 7, 2007 -> 04:50 PM) Most impressive thing of the start was I didn't see anyone spell Vazquez wrong in this thread. I hope Cisco can close this out. -

Why wouldn't it be the light hitting, high OBP outfielder that played for the Tiburones this year? -
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 6, 2007 -> 04:51 PM) So the Score just lied on their 4:30 update? They said Danks would pitch Sunday with Vazquez throwing tomorrow. Way too much false information being thrown around by them today. Bastards. No. It looks like that was the plan at Noon today. and it's changed since then. Score was right. http://whitesoxpride.mlblogs.com/inside_th...4/pitching.html

QUOTE(MHizzle85 @ Apr 6, 2007 -> 01:02 PM) They did a segment on K-Rod last night on BBTN. Orel Hershiser claimed it was nothing and pitchers have been doing this type of thing for the longest. I was really worried that Bobby was cheating when he first came up. In his first games he already had that white spot on the back of his hat even though he didn't have enough time in a big league uni to make the claim that those were salt rings from sweat. He always touches the back of his hat and then his brim in between pitches.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Apr 6, 2007 -> 01:14 PM) Weber inherited a more talented team than Self did, by far. Kruger doesn't get enough credit for cleaning up the Henson retiring/not hiring Collins mess, but Self's players made the program what it was until this year. The man who really doesn't get the credit is McClain. Illinois returned to being a top program in the big ten when they raided Peoria's 4-time(? maybe it was only 3) state championship team, where McClain's son just so happened to play. McClain could have, and would have, guided those players elsewhere if he didn't get what he wanted. -
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 6, 2007 -> 01:27 PM) Saturday: Vazquez vs Silva Sunday: Contreras vs Santana Monday: Garland vs Harden Tuesday: Buehrle vs Haren That's my best guess, it looks like they're just going to skip Danks' spot in the rotation and Gardy loves to get his best starter out there especially when it would be with full rest against the Sox. Win win for Gardenhire. I think Danks will go on Monday, keeping Garland on regular rest, and giving Buehrle an extra day to recover.
