  1. 13/16 left. Too bad Texas was my Champion.
  2. Not overly impressive, but I wouldn't say he was underwhelming either. He didn't WOW me, but he looked like a decent pitcher from the brief bit I've seen of him. Curveball looked alright, but you can't tell until you see major league hitters react to it. -- For instance, McCarthy's generally looked excellent, but you didn't find too many batters that would swing and miss at it. More often than not they were able to fight it off. Meanwhile, the two outings I've seen from Boone Logan and Adam Russell have been eye opening. Boone can play, it's just a question of whether he has matured enough to be ready to succeed at the big league level. Russell has some impressive velocity to go with his large frame, but his overhand fastball features little movement. That's not too much of a problem when you're throwing 95-98 though. His drop down FB had tons of life to it and sat at about 92-93, and he had at least three different breaking balls from two different arm angles. The offspeed stuff needs work (he needs to know when and where he can throw it, and be able to make those pitches with some consistency) and you'd like to see him get some movement on the FB, but you can see that he'll AT THE VERY LEAST make a major league bullpen in the next couple of years.
  3. QUOTE(Wanne @ Mar 16, 2007 -> 06:06 PM) For who? I'd give them Boone and Pods for Byrnes. The key to winning a title is having as many 4th outfielders as possible. Pods, Erstad, Mackowiak, Byrnes, Terrero -- We'd be unstopable.
  4. Logan would be a lock for the opening day roster on the other 29 clubs. Maybe the gun was fast -- Logan was 91-93 last year -- but he was throwing 93-95 with his FB, and spotting his slurve (which isn't really that good of a pitch, but it's effective because of that FB.
  5. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 15, 2007 -> 04:55 PM) David Riske would have been a class A free agent last year I'm told. All of those guys should be squarely in teh A category. Link. Thanks to the change in the ratings, Buehrle would fall right on the A/B border based on his last two seasons. And since 2005 will be wiped from the books as far as the Elias ratings are concerned, Buehrle will probably have to match his 2005 stats/performance to remain a type A. In other words, expect Buehrle to be a Type B free agent, and thus more expensive on the market.
  6. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Mar 14, 2007 -> 10:03 PM) The White Sox lead the majors in spring training (games played) and home runs with 25, and only the Brewers have scored more runs.
  7. Agreed, Jenks looked like crap... even though the Gun does seem to be 3-4 MPH slow.
  8. DJ says Masset threw well in the "B" game and made it sound like he may still have an outside shot at the 5th starter spot.
  9. I got this last month. I've played a total of 6:45 so far. At this rate, I've got another 6 months to go.
  10. Those are laughable. Broadway is more like a combo of Duchsherer and Josh Towers. Fields is more like the illegitimate son of Eric Hinske and Johnny Gomes. Scott Rolen. LOL Danks is comparable to Zito, but Zito has always had a BABIP that's unusually low, keeping his hits/IP low. Danks hasn't shown that ability. He's Zito and Jarrod Washburn's spawn.
  11. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Mar 10, 2007 -> 10:41 PM) Yah. But that's looking less and less likely. He's way ahead of schedule health wise So should we schedule his next hernia surgery way ahead of schedule too. Say April 1st?
  12. QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 9, 2007 -> 10:28 PM) I can't believe this horrific conference is going to get 5 teams in the tournament. agreed. And I'm a fan of the Big Ten. It's Wisconsin, Ohio State, and a bunch of mediocrity.
  13. That was a very creative end-of-game play that Sampson drew up. That was out of the Rex Grossman: f*** It, I'm Going Deep playbook. What a terrible final 7 minutes for IU. Good thing they got rid of the scoring droughts that were Davis' fault.
  14. Cotts has allowed 14 hits in 5 innings of work this spring. Still sounds like the guy who allowed nearly a .500 OBP against him after the break.
  15. QUOTE(GoSox05 @ Mar 8, 2007 -> 03:29 PM) danny grves is awful. 17 pitches 16 balls, 1 strike. Again. Gameday is inaccurate. But he did walk 4 people.
  16. QUOTE(Y2HH @ Mar 8, 2007 -> 03:23 PM) I loved the Konerko homer -- but I have to admit, Pods was far more dramatic -- obviously. Pods is also my favorite baseball player because he's not a bloated up 6 thousand foot tall home run power hitter. And he's fast. I'm a small guy who liked to steal bases and slap hit in my baseball days -- so people like Pods rule. So what you're saying is since you share the same skillset as Peter Pan, we wasted almost $3M because we could have just signed you.
  17. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 8, 2007 -> 02:51 PM) wow, found a way around the system. Awesome Floyd has thrown 1 ball This is inaccurate. It doesn't seem to record most (read: all but one) balls.
  18. QUOTE(TLAK @ Mar 7, 2007 -> 09:04 PM) But if gets hurt this year he gets nothing, nada, null. They have to consider that ristk. Thats all I was saying. Mark Mulder was hurt, and he didn't get NULL. Adam Eaton was hurt, and he didn't get NULL.
  19. QUOTE(winninguglyin83 @ Mar 6, 2007 -> 03:51 PM) He looks overweight and does not light up the gun, but he is a strike throwing machine. He was behind the first two hitters he faced 3-0.
  20. Girls, Girls, you're both pretty. While my own list would look very similar to Rotoworld's, and thus my opinion is that the Sox have a very healthy farm system in that they probably have as many almost-ready prospects as any team in baseball, they have significant reservations as well. Here's something I wrote about a month ago for an upcoming THT preview...

    Wii

I've hit mine numerous times on the ceiling exuberantly following through in home run Derby. I can't get 10 HR's.
  23. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Mar 4, 2007 -> 09:07 PM) Anyone got a recap? Just got home from St. Louis a few hours ago so I really haven't been able to keep up with ST stuff this weekend. http://www.southsidesox.com/story/2007/3/4/213649/1536
