  1. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Mar 27, 2007 -> 12:02 PM) Wait, isn't Petit supposed to be really good? He's a guy with a deceptive delivery and gaudy minor league stats in the lower levels. Scouts never really liked him and called him a back of the rotation guy, but the stats said different... until he started pitching at the higher levels of baseball. The scouts were right. He's a back end of the rotation, back of the bullpen guy, and could even end up as a AAAA player.
  2. Pearl reportedly turned them down this morning.
  3. QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 26, 2007 -> 04:42 PM) If Hall would have been injured catching, there's no one on here that would have blamed Ozzie for that. And I agree with the above post, I don't think Hall was ever a legit option to play 1B during the regular season. Neither was Timo Perez, but he played something like 10 games there, which gives you all the ammo you need to criticize Ozzie in this case.
  4. QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 26, 2007 -> 03:46 PM) What are they saying? Something about a root canal being more fun than carrying Wiki Gonzalez on your roster.
  5. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Mar 25, 2007 -> 04:48 PM) Oh, and Stewart is really making Walker look bad. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Mar 25, 2007 -> 04:49 PM) We should throw at Stewart. For showing up our hitting coach. It's wrong to blame Greg Walker. Stewart had 8 TERRIBLE major league at-bats. It's not like those were Walker's fault. What was he supposed to do? Correct 5 years of poor coaching in 8 at-bats? You can blame the Sox system of letting hitters use long looping swings in the minor leagues until they fail at the upper levels and major leagues.
  6. QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 25, 2007 -> 04:29 PM) So the soxtalk rule is that we're not allowed to openly root for injuries? not in-season. But right now, I'd say it's fair game.
  7. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Mar 25, 2007 -> 03:52 PM) Texas' hitting coach (forget his name) is the equivalent of Don Cooper to Sox fans. People believe anything his touches turns to gold. Rudy Jarmillo
  8. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Mar 25, 2007 -> 03:50 PM) So according to the hawk, Stewarts swing is different. It is. It's much shorter.
  9. QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Mar 25, 2007 -> 03:38 PM) Okay I see what you guys are talking about with Buehrle now; he's hunched over before he starts his windup. Yup, that's new. I wonder why he's doing that. It's just out of the stretch. It just seems more pronounced than in years past.
  10. Am I crazy, or is Buehrle's start position and windup a little different than we're used to seeing. He seems more hunched over, bent at the waist.
  11. Pudge's triple was a different game. In the 8th, Bases were loaded, nobody out, and the bullpen wriggled out of it. Pudge struckout in front of a double play. Viz got 2 quick outs in the ninth then a couple singles to put the tying run 90 feet from home. Uribe saved him. Bases were loaded in the 13th as well. Shingo picked up final (and only) win of the season with 2+ innings in extras.
  12. Jesus loves you more than you will know.
  13. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Mar 22, 2007 -> 10:40 PM) Same here. Cheat did you check off the box by auto correct DST? I dunno where the hell a mango tree is so I can't help you with that. In fact, sorry I'm not much of a help. Yeah, I've got it "auto correcting" which I suspect is the problem. If I put it to eastern, I'm an hour too fast. If I put it to Central, I'm an hour too slow. I'm going to set it to Iraqi time, that's MIDDLE-EAST right?
  14. Alright. What am I missing here? I've changed back and forth 4 times today. Each time the board time appears right for an hour or two before reverting to an hour off. What gives? Example.... Immediately before this post, the most recent posts were appearing as 10:30 PM (It's now 11:40 CT)... I had the board setting to CT so I figured I should just change it to ET to fix the problem... Go to board settings. Change to eastern. Everything appears fine. Make this post and now everything is an hour ahead. WTF!!!! It would be fine if it just stayed an hour off, but this constant jumping back and forth is freakin ridiculous.
  15. QUOTE(Benchwarmerjim @ Mar 22, 2007 -> 03:02 PM) Joe Mauer has something called a 'stress reaction' in his leg not a good thing for a catcher I would think http://www.startribune.com/509/story/1072702.html That "something" is the diagnosis that always preceded Frank Thomas' departure from the lineup for the rest of the season.
  16. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 22, 2007 -> 09:51 PM) Rweind your tivo and watch it again and time it yourself. From the moment it touches the players hand to the moment that it touches the scorers table is how much time should have come off the clock. And remember not to time it while in SLO-MO, which is obviously what the refs did.
  17. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Mar 22, 2007 -> 06:26 PM) I wonder what it would take to get willie to play CF. Can he play CF? I love Willie. I bet they wouldn't trade him though. A career .257/.312/.329 hitter. Why does this post not surprise me?
  18. WOO HOO! My first thought was Altman, but I like the name Kruger. Very impressed with his UNLV club from the opening tip. I even thought to myself during their first round game, "his time with a bad Hawks team probably weighs too heavily on his coaching ability. He's a damn good college coach."
  19. QUOTE(BearSox @ Mar 20, 2007 -> 09:47 PM) I have no evidence for Erstad, but have plenty for Pods. 1. He is said to be 100% 2. From what I have heard he has been tearing the cover off the ball (yes, it has been in minor league games though) 3. He has ran without any pain 4. The whole organization thinks he will have a great season, possibly his best ever 1. How many games has he played in the field? For a full 9 innings? 2. He went 0-7 in his last minor league game. Played DH. 3. He leaves Soxtalk posters unable to conjugate verbs. 4. Honestly, if there isn't at least some dissent over Pods within the White Sox organization, they're the worst organization in sports. You need contrasting opinions, not YES-men.
  20. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Mar 20, 2007 -> 09:06 PM) I would like some clarification on this, but Gene Honda Civic said Cotts can refuse his assignment to AAA because he was on a major league roster for 3 full, consecutive seasons. I'm not 100% sure about this, but eventually you gain rights as a player by which you can refuse your assigment to the minor leagues even if you have options remaining. I believe Cotts is eligible to use this right because he's been in the bigs for 3 straight years without interuption.
  21. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 19, 2007 -> 07:34 PM) Is Ichiro a grinder? Because IIRC he often destroys that category. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Mar 19, 2007 -> 07:56 PM) of course he is. So is Luis Castillo WRONG! I think when Kalapse comes out with his final formula you will see that you need to be a little white guy to be a grinder. Castillo and Ichiro end in vowels. Sounds foreign to me.
  22. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 19, 2007 -> 04:35 PM) No, Erstad's 3 k's today are not included. He's now at 10 k's, hitting .275, with an OBP of .301. Uribe and Anderson have combined for 11Ks. Of course they have 4 HR and 8BB between them as well. Ersty has 0 and 2, respectively, though not respectably.
  23. Who leads the White Sox hitters in strikeouts this spring?
