The Draft To Be Televised This Year
QUOTE(Soxfest @ May 7, 2007 -> 05:09 PM) Ratings will be far better than anything else that would be airing on a Thursday afternoon on ESPN 2. Fixed

The Draft To Be Televised This Year
QUOTE(danman31 @ May 7, 2007 -> 03:12 PM) I just hope they don't extend the first round. I love how it's about a minute per pick. And it's normally not even a minute per pick, it's more like 30 seconds.

Egbert with another fine outing
QUOTE(BearSox @ May 5, 2007 -> 08:54 PM) Egbert is beastly... I hope the comparisons to Brandon Webb are correct. What reputable person has compared him to Brandon Webb?

5/4 Games
QUOTE(BearSox @ May 5, 2007 -> 12:11 AM) It seems to me that Fields has lost motivation from not making the show, and has been quite lazy... He gets to use that excuse for a day, two is really pushing it. After that it's time to man up and be a professional. Prove you belong.

BA Sighting
QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ May 4, 2007 -> 12:04 AM) Baseball America has an article devoted to Aaron Cunningham on their homepage. Problem is, viewing it requires a subscription. Anyone willing to summarize? He got a year younger. Either that, or BA can't do math.

5/2 Games
Cunningham currently leads the Carolina League in AVG and OBP

The Greg Walker Lynch mob thread
The Sox haven't scored a run that wasn't on a HR in 37 innings.

The Greg Walker Lynch mob thread
QUOTE(fathom @ May 1, 2007 -> 11:36 PM) Cleveland's ERA is 4.21. With their offensive talent, if they can get an ERA anywhere close to that, they'll be fine. They were also missing their #2 pitcher. I went through the April stats. They were pretty much the second best bullpen in the AL in April too. They were 1st or second in all the telling peripherals.

White Sox loser
SSS is fully on the Fire Greg Walker bandwagon. June 1 is the deadline for Kenny. If there's continued inaction until then, I'll begin calling for his head. He probably has more to do with this teams failure than Mr. Walker, but he's not going anywhere after a month of bad baseball during which the Sox somehow managed a .500 record.

Bears TE Greg Olsen and the 7th Floor Crew
These same dirt merchant columnists would be chastising Olsen for "not being a team player" or "marching to the beat of a different drummer" causing a rift in the ever valuable team chemistry were he to abstain from such team building activities as the 7th Floor Crew. QUOTE(Texsox @ May 1, 2007 -> 04:34 PM) The attitude that the women who are offended should get a reality check was more offensive to me. Guys just having fun? Dissing them as hoes. Reducing them to less than human for laughs? Sorry, women have a right to be offended by that. The early eighties, when I was in college, was far different. Aids was starting to really hit. The ERA was on its death bed, the free love and drugs had run its course. Rap was just starting to gain an audience. I believe there was much more respect for people then than now. In music, on tv, and movies. That's funny because Scarface (83) is the one movie that rappers universally try to emulate.

White Sox vs. Mariners, 5/1/07 (L)
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ May 1, 2007 -> 11:23 AM) I for one will be very, very angry if Ryan Sweeney is called up and is only used as a platoon player. If we're calling him up, he needs to be in the lineup every single day. Give em Jell, Havy. Sweeney'll get the start in LF. Pablo will DH.

4/30 Games
any fireworks in the W-S Potomac game?

Randy Moss to New England
QUOTE(RME JICO @ Apr 30, 2007 -> 09:22 AM) The Bears swapped 2nd round picks with the Jets, then parlayed that into moving up one spot from their original second round pick and got (Dan Bazuin - DE), 3rd (Garrett Wolfe - RB), and 5th (Kevin Payne - SS) in this years draft and a 3rd rounder in 2008. So Angelo did pretty good. Fixed. It's a matter of perspective, but that second round pick is hardly has any more value than what they started with. It was like trading a dollar bill for 4 quarters and a penny.

If you had to choose one player for the rest of his career.....
I was a much bigger fan of Reed than Anderson. Reed's had a longer chance to prove himself a failure, but I think I'm still more in his corner.
-
Garrett Wolfe, NIU, Chicago Bears
QUOTE(rangercal @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 05:27 PM) aside from the fact that Wolfe had about 1,000 more yards his last 2 years than Russel did, but hey, who's counting anyway? How many yards did Wolfe have against B10 competition?
-
Garrett Wolfe, NIU, Chicago Bears
Garrett Wolfe is the same player that Fred Russell was a few years ago.

Anderson sent down to AAA
QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 04:18 PM) Never underestimates Ozzie feelings in regards to a player. He likes Terrero. Hell, I'm sure he'll make a joke about how he never walked either. I'd go nuts if Terrero was called up, and Perez wasn't at least given some AB's down in Charlotte to get ready. There's no excuse for Terrero being on the team, other than "Yeah we know he sucks, but we're not delaying his development like we were with Anderson"

White Sox loser
QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 04:07 PM) Are you saying that the ball doesn't jump off of Sweeney's bat? I believe sweeney will hit for power, but I don't believe it will happen anytime before his 25th birthday.
-
Anderson sent down to AAA
QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 04:14 PM) Who is the back-up CF? Sweeney? Terrero? Sweeney. Terrero's not coming up. He hasn't taken a walk, and is hitting like crap in Charlotte. He's more useless than Anderson. You'll see either Fields or Perez in the starting lineup at DH on Tuesday against Washburn, with Ozuna in LF.

White Sox loser
QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 03:57 PM) Good. Maybe Owens? 1. He sucks. 2. he's got a bum arm. 3. all we need is another left-handed hitter with no power.

White Sox loser
Anderson sent down... I assume Fields is up, or there's another move to be made

White Sox vs. Angels, 4/29/07 (L)
QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 03:30 PM) Sometime when I head to the library in a bit I'm going to go on baseball-reference and see how many runs the Sox have averaged since August of 2006. I'd say it's gotta be under 4.5. .259/.328/.428 since 8/01/06
