White Sox claim pitcher Sierra off waivers
Gene Honda Civic replied to greasywheels121's topic in FutureSox Board
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Apr 26, 2006 -> 04:20 PM) Anybody know anything about this guy? Is he one of those head cases or guys with great stuff and no control that we took a flyer on and will try to rehab? We had 6 open spots on the 40-man roster. Frankly, I'm surprised we haven't seen more of this vulturing of other franchises. -
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Apr 26, 2006 -> 12:12 AM) I really like the look of Cunningham right now. He'd have an OPS of around .900, which after making the jump from rookie ball last season, is pretty damn good. He's becoming a very nice prospect, and I think more people are going to start taking notice of him. He's over 1.000 with the two HRs. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Apr 26, 2006 -> 12:19 AM) I know it's early and all, but is there a thought of possibly sending down Gomes to low A ball, and promoting Cunningham to high A ball. I doubt it would happen, but it's something the Sox could possibly look into. Gomes is fine. He's doesn't have a good average, but he's commanding the zone (14K:7BB) and hitting the ball hard (more than half of his hits are for xtra bases). He's not overmatched, just a bit unlucky right now.

On Tuesday evening, NBC began sending out e-mails to folks who'd scored ticket reservations to Conan O'Brien's Chicago shows... NBC got more than 70,000 ticket requests, so not everyone who applied will get a Conan happygram. Dave Chapelle is a scheduled guest for one of the nights.

Step 1) wait a few hours Step 2) Click this link Step 3) change the end date to 4/25/06 The Stats aren't updated until the morning, but that should give you our pitchers stats for the last 10 games. The starters are 9-0 with a 2.03 ERA in the last 10.

You can keep State, I'll take Mizzou though. -

Jeff Francouer is hitting .184/.203/.316 so far this season, and he's hitting just .220/.264/.360 for his last 220 ABs. There was a ton of love for this guy around here last July. "Where is our Francouer?" To which, Keith and I both said he was in for some real trouble ahead due to his non-existent control of the strikezone. Looks like the league has figured him out. -
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 25, 2006 -> 05:00 PM) Just like Wakefield is often responsible for a lot of his unearned runs. However, you got to like the way Haeger has pitched thus far this season. I love it, but I also know that Haeger has about a .5% chance of pitching meaningful innings for the White Sox. Knuckleballers are very erratic, and I can't imagine the Sox would give any role to a pitcher who has so little control if an outing is dominant or gas can. I hope he does well to entice a more useful (to us at least) piece from team that could use Haeger's services (Pirates, KC, FLA, etc.)

ChiSox.com 1 ER in 8 IP works out to an ERA of 1.13. Haeger actually raised his ERA .2 with that outing. He has allowed a bunch of unearned runs, however. I think we should start keeping track of that more than anything. I understand that crazy things happen when the knuckleballer is on the mound, but Haeger is responsible for a lot of those happenings.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Apr 24, 2006 -> 07:24 PM) Pujols homers...again...meh... It's probably easier on bandwidth to just make posts when he doesn't HR. -
QUOTE(Dam8610 @ Apr 24, 2006 -> 04:12 PM) I agree with the message of this post, however, you say the White Sox 99 wins last year were "fattened up on the AL Central", but fail to recognize the current 11-4 record the Sox sport against the division. They would need to go 20-1 in their next 21 vs. the Central to match their start against the division from last year.

The only similarities between the '06 Sox and '98 Yankees is thier records after 5 games.

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Apr 23, 2006 -> 07:40 PM) Jason Michaels watch: .243/.300/.270 3 RBI's. To think, some people here thought he would be able to reproduce his Philly numbers over a full season. Paul Konerko (May 5th 2005) -- .190/.302/.430 -- To think some people here thought he would match his 40/117 performance from '04. Jermaine Dye (May 13th 2005) -- .192/.230/.358 -- To think some people here thought he could replace Maggs. /me thinks its a little early to be tossing around the "to thinks"

At this time last year, (going by memory only) Pods, Iguchi, and Crede all were north of .300. None of them finished the year there. It's about consistency. I'll get excited when 3 guys are above .300 at the ASB.
