QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Apr 10, 2006 -> 04:54 PM) How the heck did the Comiskey architects not decide to have Chicago's dowtown skyline in centerfield?? Mind-boggling. Ever heard the term southpaw? Baseball stadiums are supposed to point E to NE in CF.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Apr 10, 2006 -> 04:38 PM) Really, choosing between Baker and Lohse is a tough choice? No questions ask (if I was a Twins fan), Baker -- without a doubt. Talking to Gleeman, he always brings up their respective salaries. I don't see the relationship between salary and your role on the team. If Baker is better than Lohse -- and by almost all accounts he is -- he should be in the rotation, regarless of their salary gap. Who cares if you have $4M in "wasting away" in the bullpen. It's better than having $4M wasting your chances every 5th day in the rotation.

Cael Sanderson new ISU wrestling coach
Gene Honda Civic replied to Heads22's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
QUOTE(Heads22 @ Apr 10, 2006 -> 03:28 PM) It helps to have one to recruit. It doesn't appear that is a problem at all. He got Iowa's best wrestlers to go to Virginia Tech over ISU and Iowa. The wrestlers who were at Iowa said there was only one guy who they were going to wrestle for next year. The wrestlers in state, and already in the program all want this guy to be the coach. Frankly that matters much more than your opinion of his personality. -
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 10, 2006 -> 03:25 PM) That'll show you how important OBP was to this team. :headshake

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 10, 2006 -> 01:33 PM) With the shape Thome is in, if he stays healthy I could seriously see him winning an MVP. He is freaking amazing. I like watching him hit more than anyone in baseball. I really hope he stays healthy. He's going to need some help, like, i don't know, from maybe a leadoff hitter getting on base.

QUOTE(Cuck the Fubs @ Apr 10, 2006 -> 02:31 PM) Now the Tribe don't look so dumb trading him away Why? He's still under Boston's control for 3 years. What's one month in the grand scheme of things?

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Apr 10, 2006 -> 10:48 AM) The south Park episode hasn't been that harsh towards Family Guy. They're almost the sympathetic character, at least thus far. Yeah, it's that damn #2 Al-Quada guy. He really hates Family Guy.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Apr 9, 2006 -> 12:24 AM) Do Illinois state ID's for people under 21 year of age still have that red border around them? Red backdrop behind the photo. Regular is a blue backdrop.

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Apr 8, 2006 -> 05:05 PM) What I wouldn't do to have him on our team. Or for our minor league system to develop a player comparable to his talent. Honestly, I rather have the Indians entire lineup aside from Boone and Blake. And when the day arrives in which Marte is promoted, I'd rather have him as well. They're going to be good for a LONG time. Texas' minor league system developed him. That Einar Diaz trade did real well for the Rangers. It's not like Hafner is a youngster either. He was a late bloomer. He's just a year younger than Konerko.

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Apr 8, 2006 -> 04:58 PM) According to some, Jenks would gain nearly 6 mph on his fastball through the course of one week because, apparently, when the season begins there's a switch he could have flipped. No Loafing -

Pods = Yugo -
I love that Pablo's Adventures in the outfield draws a thread not about him being shipped out, but Ross Gload's inevitable departure. We gotta keep this guy around. He's spunky. And I'll tell you what. If there's one thing that wins games. It spunk. Give me 9 guys like Pablo Ozuna. I'll show you a winner. Boy.

My question is where was Pods? Affeldt was chased after the 4th. Was Pods unavailable due to an injury that they're hiding ala the Cubs. Pods was pulled in game 1 because the field was wet. He didn't play tonight because of the lefty, but was he not put back out there because of "windy conditions?" If he's that f***ing fragile, let him be that f***ing fragile in Charlotte on the DL. Get me some useful players.

QUOTE(Timoperezrulez @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 10:26 PM) If we still had Timo, all of these errors with Pablo would have never happend! Mackowiak replaced Timo. Ozuna is being used in the same position he was last season. If Timo was here, he would have been in right field. -
compared to the rest of the division, we shut him down.

QUOTE(JimH @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 05:23 PM) Now, tell me what you would've said here had McCarthy served up a long ball to Hafner. Do tell. I bet it would've been something along the lines of "why not Cotts, heck, why not Logan even?". As soon as McCarthy retired Peralta with another nasty hook, I said "I'd run him back out there for the 8th" Use him like Scot Shields. I didn't care if Hafner was in the box. That's the see-what-he can do attitude that people are using to defend Logan's outing. McCarthy may not have been the right call, but he sure looked like a good bet to get the job done. It's telling that McCarthy's first ever hold opportunity came in the same game, and an inning earlier than Boone Logan's.
-
QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 04:59 PM) Jim, the thing is, I'm not buying that Cotts explanation -- even if it is Ozzie's logic behind it. I also don't buy the "I didn't want to have him sit down" explaination. Here's Brandon McCarthy talking about his outing from the same game. McCarthy was throwing in the 5th. Sat down. Started throwing while Count was back on the mound in the 6th. Sat down. Then warmed up to come in for the 7th.
