QUOTE(POPPY_HIDALGO @ Apr 15, 2006 -> 01:19 PM) Thome will tie this thing up with 1 swing. The first step may be taking a swing at Pods and BA's kneecaps.

AAP: Paulo Orlando
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 15, 2006 -> 10:38 AM) Hey Gene Orlando batted .322 with 7 2b’s and 3 3b’s for the Dominican team. I kinda thought that was him. The stat line for Roberto Paulo fit his profile. Add another alias to the list. .322/.365*/.504 with a 30:8 K/BB ratio. He needs to put the ball in play more. With his speed, most of them will be hits anyway. At 6'3" and 165, you've gotta figure he can add some mass, while not losing his speed, to add some more power to his swing.

AAP: Paulo Orlando
Kannapolis Intimidators Pos: CF DoB: 11-01-1985 Ht: 6'3" Wt: 165 Bats: R Throws: R Mr. Orlando is shrouded in mystery, perhaps because his name in was originally Pablo? The only news article I could find on him from his home country of Brazil (which is no longer available) referred to him as Pablo. -- Anyway, he goes by Paulo now. Let's just hope it's not one of those age-gate, or Jario Garcia Santiago Casilla situations. I heard that was played in one of the Dominican Summer Leagues for the Sox last season, but I can't find any stats on him from there. I've only seen him bat once, turning what should have been a routine DP into a FC with his speed. He would later score from first on a double squirted down the right field line. From the 360 feet that I've seen him run, I think he's the fastest player in the White Sox system. He has started his professional career in America with a 7 game hitting streak (still active) that includes 2 doubles, 2 triples, and a HR.

A Diamond in the Rough? The Thornton Thread
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 06:57 PM) with about 10 mph on his fastball Shoeneweis threw 93-94. He could bring it for a lefty. I have yet to see thornton hit 100+ on the gun.

Podsednik hurt?
Third question: Why have an automatic out at the top of the lineup? There's plenty of room for him at the bottom of the lineup with Anderson. They're already batting next to each other. -- I call that inning the beer frame. It only lasts about the time it takes to make a run to get a beer, and by the time you're back to your seat, the inning's over and you didn't miss anything exciting.

QUOTE(trottime @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 05:48 PM) Its much more sickening that you feel it necessary to use language like that. There are young people that visit this site and they do not need to be exposed to your limited vocabulary. You haven't spent much f***ing time here yet have you? Take a step into the first few pages of the gamethreads. Some of those entries would make Duke Lacrosse players blush.

Podsednik hurt?
My specific question is where was Pods in the 9th? Mackowiak isn't considered a defensive upgrade unless you're talking about throwing arm, and then you would only think about putting him out there if the tying run was on third with The more general question is when will Pods (and the Sox) finally admit that he's not right? He blew off the media yesterday, not wanting to talk about his poor start. I assume he'll do the same again today. I can't imagine him wanting to reminisce about going 0-4 again.

The New Busch Stadium Opens Today
QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 12, 2006 -> 03:30 PM) And US Cell faces SE to CF. So if they had followed the rule, then indeed the skyline would have been in CF. The skyline is strait north of the park. At best, they could have gotten some of it in the left field corner view. The Sox also wanted to keep part of the original Comiskey (now the footprint for Gates 5&6) and they would have blocked any view of the skyline. It's nice of you to come up with that idea 15 years later though.

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Apr 12, 2006 -> 12:15 PM) I was saying they might intentionally walk him if Scott was still on second. Not that it matters. It's the first inning, and you're not going to walk Thome, a lefty, to pitch to Konerko with Robertson, a lefty.
