Burger To Marlins
There is no interest in the three players you mentioned. He moved the players other teams wanted and would pay a premium. Both deals make sense at this stage, one of the few areas I can agree Hahn made the right calls over his tenure, same with selling off what he did in 2016. That said, a new EVP/GM should be hired this offseason to put the rest of the pieces together, something Hahn is clearly unable to do.

Burger To Marlins
Really hard to say at this point if this was the best return available to Hahn for Burger, but it makes sense to trade Burger at his likely high value point. He's 27, so don't understand the comparisons to 25 year old Vaughn, who played at the ML level for three years at this point whereas Burger was injured and then after recovering not considered good enough to play beyond the 15 games in 2021. Still think they should move Eloy this offseason, as well as just about everyone else, and make 2026 the next 2020. I hope this pitcher and Burger both end up having great years ahead of them. Burger had a great few months here, and made a lot of otherwise unlistenable games enjoyable.

This Day In Sox History...July 31
The White Sox have been a national afterthought since the Black Sox. Nobody outside of Chicago, and many within Chicago, don't even know about Disco Demolition or the White Flag trade, Fixing a World Series vs. the other two is similar on scale to WWII vs. invading Grenada,

This Day In Sox History...July 31
Love how they laid out the fact the Giants owner built on these trades, had regular postseason success and on that pledged to build his own very highly profitable stadium. He didn't shake down taxpayers for his hideous Section 8 Ode to Brooklyn Dodgers Stadium. The Cubs did the same, paid for their upgrades and are banking mint. Also note this was the second step in the serious erosion of fan interest post new Stadium. The White Sox outdrew the Cubs until the 1994 cancellation, after which the Cubs took a slight hit and then fully recovered, whereas the Sox took a major hit for which they have never rebounded. This is primarily due to Jerry's hardline anti player pro cancellation stance post lockout and White Flag Trade douchebaggery vs. the Tribune being far more inept on the field but silent and not antagonistic toward fans. New Stadium - Winning Teams - High interest despite terrible Bush recession (2.6M-2.9M): 1991 2.9M (+12) (Cubs 2.3M -6) 1992 2.7M (+10) (Cubs 2.1M -6) 1993 2.6M (+26) (Cubs 2.7M +6) Phase One Jerry's World Series Cancellation Era (1.6M-1.9M): 1994 1.7M (+21) 65% of schedule played due to Jerry and Bud trying to break the union and failing miserably. (Cubs 1.8M -15) 1995 1.6M (-8) 88% of schedule played due to owner lockout and attempt to field scab players. (Cubs 1.9M +2) 1996 1.7M (+8) (Cubs 2.2M -10) 1997 1.9M (-1) (Cubs 2.2M -26) Phase Two Jerry's White Flag era (1.3M-1.9M): 1998 1.4M (-2) (Cubs 2.6M +17) 1999 1.3M (-9) - New Stadium low which will likely be broached in 2024 and beyond. (Cubs 2.8M -28) 2000 1.9M (+28) - 700,000 lower than the 1993 Division Winning Team (Cubs 2.8M -32) 2001 1.8M (+4) (Cubs 2.8M +14) 2002 1.7M (0) (Cubs 2.7M -28) 2003 1.9M (+10) (Cubs 3.0M +14) 2004 1.9M (+4) (Cubs 3.2M +16) Also, what an odd end to the article: How could forfeiting a meaningless game to the Tigers and faux embarrassment people are making documentaries about celebrating DD the equivalent of either the White Flag debacle or fixing a World Series?

Fegan on Score @1225 pm to discuss Sox remaining moves
The 2021 team was healthy in October, several players on peak years and they were light years behind Houston, let alone the WS Champion team. If fans are happy with a 75-85 win AL Central "Champion" with a 0-4% chance of winning the World Series, than Jerry has a season ticket plan just for you. For fans wanting a team consistently in the mix, Tampa, Houston, Los Angeles, it's going to take a brand new organization and ownership. Texas is several million below the $233M "Luxury Tax" threshold. The White Sox have hovered $40M-$50M or more below it all but one year (2022 $15M below - Jerry's gift to Tony that did not work out funded by a huge COVID created uptick in season ticket demand). Without new ownership, that isn't going to change. The one sustained period of high payrolls was after a World Series, again funded by record Sox season ticket levels.

They have several good prospects (listed the current Top 20 below plus guys 30 or under in 2026. To me what it is even more important than hitting 1-2 guys for Cease is to get quality instructors at the minor league level, clear the deadwood like Boston and others here to develop players through the whole system. Who the heck could the Sox even sign in FA next year?
I agree with you, but it is one of three issues because most Sox wins were close games due to the fact their offense is bottom 10, their defense is bottom 5, and they had Lance Lynn and Kopech pitching poorly. If most games are close, and you have bad offense, defense and a bad bullpen, you are not winning many games because just about everything is bad. Sox are sixth worst in run differential, their record reflects that.

Fegan on Score @1225 pm to discuss Sox remaining moves
Best case scenario it will take 4-7 years after Jerry dies assuming his kids don't keep the team to transition into a quality organization base on the fact the entire organization is Bottom Five in MLB. Any or multiple steps can hit a snag, adding additional time to the process. Jerry Dies Estate Settles MLB approves new ownership group - No Reinsdorfs, 100% of Senior Exectives are replaced. Quality Executive Group Installed, entire Baseball Operations Organization built from ground zero. 1 Year Evaluation of current talent, develop, implement, execute plan to revamp entire organization 3-5 years to rebuild the entire organization and restock all levels with quality players and prospects. Establish and implement player development for the first time in decades.

Who the heck could the Sox even sign in FA next year?
The sold off their best starter, and are near the bottom at every position not manned by Robert. They need 15-20 better players on the roster to legitimately contend. 2023 fWAR Team Rankings through July 30 23rd Catcher (Need two catchers who can catch and also hit above .650 OPS) 23rd First Base (Give Vaughn 1-2 more years, this is the easiest position to fill externally) 27th Second Base (Need a starting 2B, they have enough for 1 decent reserve infielder) 19th Third Base (Yoan is putting for dough next year, Burger a better DH - Future minors/FA) 28th Shortstop (Tim is putting for dough next year, Montgomery in 2025 or 2026) 23rd Left Field (Hahn paid $75M for this - Hahn needs to go) 8th Center Field (Room for plate discipline improvement, but this is the one spot Sox are Good) 30th Right Field (Still a hole since Avisail Garcia left - Hahn needs to go) 4th Designated Hitter (Combo of Burger and Eloy, Looks great until you realize this is 2.0 fWAR). 25th Overall Pitching, 21st Starters & 26th Relievers (All before selling their best pitcher, Hahn spent well over $40M for this bullpen, 2/3 non Liam - Hahn needs to go).

Who would you most like to see traded at the deadline after Grandal/Middleton…?
Play him where? 2B over Romy and Remillard? He was completely overmatched earlier in the year. Perhaps he will be able to make the jump next year or 2025, but still needs a lot of work at the plate,
-
Who would you most like to see traded at the deadline after Grandal/Middleton…?
Playing regularly at Charlotte is more important than riding the bench in Chicago. If Tim remains, it makes sense to play Tim regularly to build trade value over the off-season or at the next deadline. It's likely Yoan and Tim will play better next year, perhaps significantly better, as they are auditioning for their free agent contracts.

Sadly Ventura and Tony couldn't either. Perhaps the next hire.

Who would you most like to see traded at the deadline after Grandal/Middleton…?
Do you mean pre Arb and Arb players when you say guys with control? Clevinger is the only one not under control (since he can opt out).

Tim dabbing in the 2 hole. Tim dabbing in the leadoff role. All he does is dab dab dab.
