  1. Really solid article, thanks for posting and writing. Upset Marco isn’t allowed to do more, but glad they may have received a promotable prospect.
  2. The Nashville Rule.
  3. Rick Hahn is incompetent, but Brooks Boyer has been exposed as dishonest and vile the past few seasons by Hawk, Jason and others. Thanks for posting this, hopefully you will save others from losing a deposit or worse. Do you just forfeit deposits (auto plus prior credits) if you cancel after September, or are you legally obligated to make the remaining payments?
  4. I understand the disappointment, and also hoped he would be performing a lot better. He has a couple years left at a low contract to figure it out and gain power as he reaches his peak years. Just didn't understand the angst today since he went 2 for 4 with a double. (Andrus with the other extra base hit, also a double)
  5. Getting little value (and picking poor defenders / non premium defensive positions) out of their top picks is one of the top three reasons the rebuild failed. Three DH/1B for a net 1.5 bWAR earned across nearly a decade of availability (Vaughn 0.5 bWAR, Sheets negative 0.7 bWAR and Burger 1.7). Tony didn't like Madrigal and the FO was obsessed over a gassed ancient closer to set up for them. 1.7 White Sox bWAR, 1.8 Cubs bWAR. Draft a reliever, never let him develop as a starter. 1.7 bWAR across three seasons. Had to start rebuild number 2 to bring in any quality catchers despite spending $72 on a faux catcher. Still no RFers or 2B on the horizon, both holes for the entire "window".
  6. He's the youngest full time player on the team, and Robert is the only one significantly outperforming him. He makes the league minimum and went 2 for 4 today. Not sure what the angst for tonight. 2023 bWAR 4.3 Robert Jr. (26) 0.7 Benintendi (28) 0.6 Jimenez (26) 0.5 Vaughn (25) 0.2 Remillard (29) -0.1 Thompson (32) -0.1 Grandal (34) -0.3 Moncada (28) -0.4 Zavala (29) -0.5 Sheets (27) -0.9 Colas (24) -0.9 Andrus (34) -1.6 Anderson (30)
  7. Out of the three, they were .500 in one real season, and then the bullshit 102 game owner lockout that shouldn't even be considered. So one season since 2013 when Hahn was GM that they won 82+ games. 82+ win seasons under Reinsdorf: Solid to Championship Seasons (90-99 Wins) (7): 1983, 1990, 1993, 2000, 2005, 2006, 2021 Mired in Mediocrity (82-89 Wins) (11): 1982, 1985, 1991, 1992, 1996, 2001, 2003, 2004, 2008, 2010, 2012
  8. Yeah, was listening to most of the non Clevinger games, and it helped he hit the IL a few times, but will likely just check the box score for many games here on out. Don't care about postseason anymore, but really do like following the season, having the games on in the background. It doesn't have to be a contending year, but I got a lot of enjoyment in 2019 watching new players progress. I hope 2025 is like that, considering most of the good prospects are at AA.
  9. I don't listen to or follow Clevinger starts, but looking at Gameday after the final, why is Eloy pinch hitting nursing a sore heel? These games have zero relevance to the White Sox. Either he should be available to start, should not play because he is injured, or be placed on the IL if he is injured and needs several days to recover. Why risk injury to him (or Yoan) if they are not 100%? Especially at this stage of the season.
  10. We went up to Milwaukee County Stadium to watch Nolan Ryan earn his 300th win against the Brewers on July 31, 1990. Nolan threw 146 pitches over 7 2/3 innings to beat the Brewers 11-3. The game was much closer, 5-3, before Texas added six runs including a Julio Franco Grand Slam in the final frame. Robin Ventura was lucky his teammates saved him from getting 146 punches, or he would have been dead. I lost a lot of respect for Robin after that debacle. Happy 30th Anniversary Nolan! 11. Any news out there on a potential Eloy injury? He's been out Sunday, Thursday and now today, though he pinch hit yesterday.
  12. I guess we should be grateful Dear Leader can't give away our Domestic Bonus slot money.
  13. Well Rick only has two catcher options. Agree on Elvis. Is Eloy going back on the Injured list? He was off beyond pinch hitting yesterday, is off today.
  14. There is a far better chance Jerry considers a significant change in doing by someone he admires and trusts than his lackeys. She wouldn’t risk moving here for a promotion without making sure she has a good chance to make it work, regardless of Jerry’s shelf life. She has a good situation now that she no longer has to deal with Jeter, and a team with a lot of young talent.
  15. The Sox could have built a stadium immersed in the neighborhood but instead demanded all the surrounding areas nuked like Nagasaki, whereas the Cubs are generating a lot of revenue beyond the ballpark. Not a huge Ricketts fan, but they hire baseball people and get out if the way, don’t micromanage, and don’t leech off of Chicago taxpayers. Back to the topic at hand, I’ve listed the three teams I want to win in the postseason in another thread, but here they are: Marlins - Burger, Kim Angels - Lucas, Lopez, Ohtani & Trout Astros - Abreu & Alvarez Baltimore, Cincinnati and Tampa for their die hard fans. Contending teams I do not want to win the World Series = Arizona, Atlanta, Boston, Cubs, Dodgers, Minnesota, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Texas, Toronto, Yankees.
  16. Like many here on SoxTalk, Jerry hates the Cubs more than he likes the Sox. The two significant changes in the organization came after Jerry’s reaction to the Cubs’ best two playoff runs. 2003 - Cubs come to within a few outs of a World Series. Jerry responds by firing his “winning manager” and picks Ozzie over Kenny’s choice Cito Gaston. 2016 - Cubs win the World Series. Jerry is done with mediocrity and fully embraces Hahn’s plan of several more years of excuses, tanking and bottom feeding. Beyond Aug 2020 - June 2021, this is where the Sox have been and remain today. If it takes a Cubs third run for a complete overhaul of the entire organization, I’m all for it.
  17. Birmingham Manager Lorenzo Buddy was asked about Edgar Quero’s walk during his second game with his club during their 9-4 loss, the club’s 61st loss of the season. ”Our coaching staff is here to teach the White Sox way, the Ozzie Guillen way. We instruct every hitter to always swing aggressive and that it is far better to make an out than to take a walk.” "There will be a consequence he has to endure here within our family," the manager said. "It's a learning experience." "I'm certain that will not happen again with Edgar," Buddy said. "It's a manager's responsibility. It's a teaching moment. You want them to understand why there's a swing sign in that situation.”
  18. I like Rabbits.
  19. I agree with your post, with the exception of these two points. 2015 Royals 2014 Royals
  20. If it helps finalize complete revamp of the Sox front office, so be it. Jerry is motivated more by hate, greed and pettiness than he is trying to make the Sox better. Like a substantial number of Sox fans, he hates the Cubs more than he likes the White Sox. So glad Tony hated him, wouldn't have gotten Kimbrel or Pollock otherwise.
  21. The Sox have had seven managers during this period. Miguel Cairo managed 34 games with an 18-16 record. Tony La Russa was a loser in 2022, going 64-66 before stepping down for a health issue, and then resigning. https://www.baseball-reference.com/managers/cairomi01.shtml Rk Mgr Yrs From ▼ To W L W-L% Ties G>.500 G BestFin WrstFin AvRk Ejections 1 Pedro Grifol 1 2023 2023 43 66 .394 0 -23 109 4 4 4.0 4 2 Miguel Cairo 1 2022 2022 18 16 .529 0 2 34 2 2 2.0 1 3 Rick Renteria 4 2017 2020 236 309 .433 0 -73 545 2 4 3.5 24 4 Robin Ventura 5 2012 2016 375 435 .463 0 -60 810 2 5 3.8 15 5 Don Cooper 1 2011 2011 1 1 .500 0 0 2 3 3 3.0 0 6 Ozzie Guillen 8 2004 2011 678 617 .524 0 61 1295 1 4 2.4 27 White Sox Managers ranked by winning percentage (La Russa through Grifol): https://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/CHW/managers.shtml Records over, at or under .500 by year .551 Gene Lamont 258-210 1992 1993 1994 1995 .529 Miguel Cairo 18-16 2022 .524 Ozzie Guillen 678-617 2004 2005 2006 2007 2008 2009 2010 2011 .515 Jerry Manuel 500-471 1998 1999 2000 2001 2002 2003 .515 Jeff Torborg 250-235 1989 1990 1991 .513 Tony La Russa 678-644 1979 1980 1981 1982 1983 1984 1985 1986 2021 2022 .509 Terry Bevington 222-214 1995 1996 1997 .500 Doug Radar 1-1 1986 .500 Don Cooper 1-1 2011 .463 Robin Ventura 375-435 2012 2013 2014 2015 2016 .461 Jim Fregosi 193-226 1986 1987 1988 .433 Ricky Renteria 236-309 2017 2018 2019 2020 .391 Pedro Grifol 43-67 2023
  22. The Royals have cut the Sox lead to eight. One game per week is doable. Go Royals!
