I wonder if they will win a non AL Central plus Colorado or Oakland series the rest of the way. Still amazed at their Atlanta series win, though it took a season ending injury / implosion by their Sunday starter to get there. It would be cool if that is their last series win in 2023. Series Wins: August (0): None July (1): at Atlanta June (3): vs. Detroit; at New York A. L. vs. Boston May (5): vs. Minnesota; at Cincinnati; vs. Kansas City; vs. Cleveland; at Cleveland March/April (0): None Series remaining: - All are three game series unless noted. August (8): Home (4): New York A. L.; Milwaukee; Seattle & Oakland (4) Away (4): Cleveland; Chicago (2); Colorado; Baltimore September / October (9): Home (5): Detroit, Kansas City; Minnesota (4); Arizona; San Diego Away (4): Kansas City; Detroit; Washington; Boston

A few things I’d like to see: Conserve Santos’ usage the final two months. He’s 23 and pitched a heavy workload (46 games) to date. Give Robert and Benintendi more rest down the stretch. Robert has had three games off which is absurd. Benintendi has had 8 games off, played with his hand issues. Both should get a game off a week the rest of the way and get pulled in blowouts. Bring up Haseley (27) who can play acceptable CF, and Patino to see what he can do before you make a decision about 2024. Place Grandal on outright waivers. I don’t agree with bringing up Trace Thompson beyond a few days before he retires. He’s a 32 year old AAAA player. Also don’t like having Sosa overmatched at the MLB level. He’s 23, there is time to promote him perhaps for roster expansion to get another taste and better ending, or in 2024 when he may be ready.

Keuchel is not the future, he is the regretful past.

The Cuban Connection saw how Hahn discarded Jose last season like he was trash. The only tears you will see from the core are tears of joy escaping playing another second for Jerry or Rick.
-
Yep, $54M for 76 saves is a very steep price. May have made sense if they also acquired legitimate MLB starters at RF, 2B and Catcher. Grandal, Keuchel, Liam, Lynn and Benintendi were the five major acquisitions over the “multi championship contention window”. This gets you one AL Central Division win and no playoff success.
-
At least Minnesota tried the past few years, signed a high priced free agent like Correa twice. Cleveland locked in Jose Ramirez. The Sox’ attempt to counter were Grandal, Keuchel, Lynn and Benintendi, all purchased at the last remaining Goldblatt’s in the city.

I picked 2028, with the hope of anew owner and a Hahn firing by 2025 or 2026. Will take 2-3 years, though their crop of prospects and the pathetic four division clubs might result in a low eighties win total in 2026 or 2027 with no changes which sadly may happen. 82 win + seasons under Rick Hahn: 1

The same people leaking about clubhouse cancers are the people responsible for creating a league bottom roster and trying to cover their ass. The primary documented clubhouse cancer the past four seasons was Tony La Russa. Jeter and Mattingly are just god awful at their jobs. Jester lost out in his power struggle and it has done wonders for that organization. You can say the same thing in reference to the jobs Jerry, Kenny and Rick Hahn have done over the years. Renteria was a decent human being, and the only one who held players accountable over Hahn’s tenure. He earned the the respect of his players. Tony was openly mocked by their top players after he was exposed being out of touch with modern baseball, the rules, and his completely backwards strategery.

And the shitty team will still be wearing those fucking hideous loser 1983 uniforms.

Not to mention if Jerry dies before 97, someone else is footing at least a part of the bill.

Game Thread Palooza Day 1.....Cease vs Dunning
South Side Hit Men replied to wegner's topic in 2023 Season in Review
I’m setting in a Brookfield dive bar, 4 miles south of Madison, and I have to fucking hear Go Cubs Go and fucking Cubs fans happy after their stupid win and an 11-1 drubbing of the White Sox. This is an all time low of a half century of my White Sox fandom. Get the f*** out of our city and planet Jerry. -
Rick Hahn has earned each and every loss over his tenure. Godspeed on 100 losses and an exhumation of Hahn and everyone else in his organization, and every officer across the entire organization, for flushing a generation of White Sox fans down the toilet.

I can see the Sox and Clevinger agreeing to a rare acceptance on the mutual option, with the apparent zero interest this week despite the fact he has pitched well when healthy, and the Sox lack of internal option and relatively cheap $8M additional outlay in a tanking year vs. FA options. Perhaps if he doesn't do more s%*# someone will take him next July.
-
I fear the complete lack of interest for Clevinger and the desperate straights of filling the White Sox rotation give at least a possibility Clevenger returns on the $12M mutual option ($4M sunk coast, $8M for Clevinger vs. other FA options). Would say Cease is the only lock, plus whatever innings they can coax out of Kopech. Touki could be a good possibility if he likes it here. Would say Scholtens and Banks are the likely other current roster possibilities. Davis Martin could get a few September starts preparing for 2025. Can see them also picking up a couple under $10M/year FAs to try to eat innings and perhaps trade at the deadline if one or both outperform contract expectations. That's not to say some of their previous prospects plus acquisitions could get call ups for injury or to reward solid 2024 minor league campaigns. That said, Sean Burke (7.61 ERA), Luis Patino (6.75 ERA) Jordan Leasure (27.00 ERA at AAA) are the only three pitching in Charlotte. So it's likely that you won't see SP prospects set to emerge for Opening Day roster spots until the 2025 season.

The Sox are in the bottom 10, in many cases the bottom 5, for every single position on the roster, with the exception of Luis Robert and Designated Hitter. This includes the entire pitching staff, starters and relievers. -

I definitely want an 100 + loss season, will bring more calls for a complete overhaul. The Sox need to go 19-36 .345 or worse the rest of the way. Either Jerry heeds or season ticket sales bleed. -

He needs to be shut down for the season, either get surgery or condition over the next 6 months before spring training so he can salvage a future contract and the Sox can salvage prospects at the July 2024 deadline.
