9/22 Sox vs. Guardians 7:10PM CT
South Side Hit Men replied to DoUEvenShift's topic in 2022 Season in Review
Brooks Boyer has jumped the shark. There needs to be an Exorcism expelling Satan from the entire organization. -

Well isn't that special. Not surprised, Jerry is the Prince of Darkness, after all. -
Translates into 160 games based on Eloy's average of 75-80 games played a year. Byron Buxton = 20.3 bWAR & 585 games played through Age 28 Eloy Jimenez = 5.4 bWAR & 306 games (+ remaining two weeks) played through Age 25 Luis Robert = 7.6 bWAR & 221 games played through Age 24.

Can’t Wait to Hear Hahn Lawyer Speak This s%*#

Fun fact. Rick Hahn's great-grandfather discovered Teflon in 1938. -
The White Sox cannot be fixed by next season
South Side Hit Men replied to VAfan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
IIRC, all three are signed through 2023 (unless they have been extended). This is actually worse than the status quo. Tony can ruin the White Sox working from home for many years. He wouldn't physically be able to survive the same length of time in a managerial role. Hahn will continue making shitty trades and FAs signings. The organization will still have minimal to zero scouting, professional development. Perhaps the only chance of actual change is damaging information coming out regarding Brian Ball's discrimination lawsuit against the Sox, and/or Tony's employees discrimination lawsuit against Tony's Animal Foundation. Slim odds on either front, as both would likely agree to large payoffs before allowing information to become public. -
The only "anonymous quote" was the one unattributed word, "embarrassing". The entire article was an interview of Graveman. It was likely Graveman, and DVS is providing cover for calling their situation embarrassing publicly.

Rick Hahn is recovering from COVID. I can see the organization postponing yet another scheduled press conference until at least February, 2023 in Arizona, date and time TBD. Danny Parkins asked Rick Hahn at the opening 2021 ST conference Danny was invited to participate via Zoom: "Hey Rick, Um, just following up on Sullivan's (about whether fans are coming around on the TLR hiring) question. Bob in that piece with Tony also, he reported that Tony disclosed, uh, to Jerry about the DUI arrest, and that Jerry told no one. So I was wondering like when in that process did you find out, about the arrest?" https://omny.fm/shows/wscr-0003/parkins-spiegel-rick-hahn-speaks-but-not-to-danny Rick Hahn's response: The Sox did not provide media access to Tony or Rick after the October La Russa introductory press conference. Tony did not participate in December Winter Meetings (all 29 other mangers did). The day before this press conference, Bob Nightengale broke the story Tony told Jerry about his 2nd (known) DUI, but Jerry told no one. The Q & A above was the first media access the White Sox provided to general media since the October 2020 TLR Press Conference.

How did every team misjudge Kwan and Madrigal so badly?
South Side Hit Men replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Because Jerry Reinsdorf thinks trading international bonus slot money away to avoid contract buyouts is the greatest thing since Arby's roast beef sandwiches. Marco Paddy is the lone White Sox scout worth a damn the past decade, and this is the area Jerry wants to go as cheap as possible. -
Yes, though will less drunk call ins, or people ordering White Castle drive-thru. (Sprite, heavy ice for their flask /bottle mix).

You will be told Colas needs to work on fielding and get more time against AAA pitching. You will be told Eloy Jimenez, Gavin Sheets and Andrew Vaughn have worked on their fielding during the offseason and in Arizona, and are ready to make big strides. You will be told free agent acquisition (insert Wil Myers, Adam Duvall, Robbie Grossman or Mitch Haniger) is a steady veteran, an asset in Right Field who will provide leadership in the clubhouse, and play hard everyday. You will be told Yasmani Grandal, Luis Robert, Tim Anderson, Eloy Jimenez. Yoan Moncada, Michael Kopech, Lance Lynn, Garrett Crochet, Joe Kelly, Kendall Graveman, Jake Diekman and Liam Hendriks are healthy and determined to win a World Championship entering 2023.

So wish Rongey was on the postgame tonight.
-
Yes, I have a few days in me.
-
And he can play Right Field. Get the best three C, 2B and RF possible, care more about adequate to good/great defense and overall .750 + OPS, handedness is third or lower in terms of player need.

Sox have a winning record against Tampa Bay (4-2), so if they can somewhat leapfrog Baltimore (which the Sox lose the tie breaker with a 2-5 record), their wild card math is better at this stage. 9/22/22 Wild Card Math Tampa Bay 7-6 White Sox 13-0 (Baltimore 11-3 or worse) Tampa Bay 6-7 White Sox 12-1 (Baltimore 10-4 or worse) Tampa Bay 5-8 White Sox 11-2 (Baltimore 9-5 or worse) Tampa Bay 4-9 White Sox 10-3 (Baltimore 8-6 or worse) Tampa Bay 3-10 White Sox 9-4 (Baltimore 7-7 or worse) Tampa Bay 2-11 White Sox 8-5 (Baltimore 6-8 or worse) Tampa Bay 1-12 White Sox 7-6 (Baltimore 5-9 or worse) Tampa Bay 0-13 White Sox 6-7 (Baltimore 4-10 or worse)

9/22/22 White Sox Math Cleveland 6-7 White Sox 13-0 Cleveland 5-8 White Sox 12-1 Cleveland 4-9 White Sox 11-2 Cleveland 3-10 White Sox 10-3 Cleveland 2-11 White Sox 9-4 Cleveland 1-12 White Sox 8-5 Cleveland 0-13 White Sox 7-6

That would be a White Sox win. It was only a $5M difference ($10M vs. $5M player opt out) before the season, but AJ with a few more at bats will be guaranteed $13M, with $14M a possibility if they continue playing him everyday, despite being eliminated. I don't see another team offering anything close to $13M for Pollock.

Laurence Holmes is credible and consistent on his show when I listened to his solo show. I hope he is still boycotting the team after cancelling his tickets post Tony. I don't want to hear from Bernstein or Leila, who both said Dylan Cease wasn't even close to being enough to acquire Joc Pederson last year. (The Twitter link is no longer active, the owner must have taken down the clip). Bernstein should have been shitcanned several years ago after his series of tweets commenting on Bulls' sideline reporter Aiyana Cristal's breasts.

Len was OK with this arrangement when he came here, and his primary stated reason for wanting radio is to be able to call postseason games, with which this franchise is a pipedream most seasons. When Jason leaves, I doubt Len passes up the TV side. I don't think Stone is returning, good riddance. I don't believe Jerry gives a s%*# about the team or most players beyond Abreu, and a few former players (Konerko, Harold, Kenny, Ozzie). Jose is never going to tell Jerry Tony is garbage and needs to go, even if Jose thought Jerry would consider Jose's opinion. Jerry has only ever cared about one opinion beyond possibly his wife's.

Perhaps one day the Sox will have an OFer as good as rookie Kwan (4.7 bWAR). Last White Sox outfielder to have a 4.7 + bWAR? Adam Eaton (6.6) Something to think about next year when fans begin to b**** PECOTA and other projection systems are shortchanging the White Sox, because Robert, Eloy and others are "really 5-6 WAR players".

They'll blame COVID and "staffing issues" like most large gouging corporations have sold the public over the past three years. The Sox have the internal numbers in terms of the percentage of fans like @Dick Allen who passed on playoff ticket / 2023 deposits yesterday (the deadline). Not sure when the first 2023 ST installment is due, but the Sox will have a good guestimate at this point based on the percentage participation of the 2022 playoff tickets. A substantial number of the most expensive tickets and suites are held directly by team sponsors or other businesses which use them for marketing purposes. Those seats aren't at risk. The bulk of the tickets in the lower priced seats are at risk. The Sox have also historically relied on substantial walkup game day sales. They also killed a good portion of this revenue by banning cash at ticket booths. Many fans do not have credit cards (28%) and/or smartphones (18%). The team also continues to drift out of sight and mind for the growing number of fans who have cut the cord, with their elimination of over the air games on WGN. Jerry and Michael finally took notice after the Bulls ticket sales took a plunge. Perhaps this is the year Jerry takes action, but I have to agree with most reports he is going with Tony one more year (with I believe Kenny and Rick's deals gone) and perhaps making changes after that plays out.

It's always Sunny on 35th and Shields.
-
No qualms with the fans, I still rarely see any criticism of Hahn anywhere (fans or media) beyond Soxtalk, and most were in his corner until this offseason. And Kwan hits another HR.
-
Compare the media, who were all over Nagy's ass. Compare to the assembled Sox media, there to kiss Hahn's ass, serve him bourbon, and toss roses at his feet.

Yeah, if Robert heals and at some point in his career is able to play 130 + games a season, he would be more valuable. This August/September, Straw is more valuable because he is healthy. The past two seasons, they put up the same bWAR, because Straw once again is healthy and Robert is/was not. 2021-2022 bWAR: 5.7 Robert 5.5 Straw
