  1. These players have been reported but still have not been reported via MLB.com or MILB.com. 2. It's not necessarily the money, but the lack of opportunity to target 2026/2027. Fletcher will be 29/30, Mena 24/25, The guys you mention have no impact beyond perhaps Rosario possibly being a decent flip candidate, but all these guys will also be gone on the next Sox competitive team. That said, Jerry had a dead last payroll the years leading up to the 1991 stadium, so unless he dies soon, not sure 2026/2027 is realistic in terms of smart moves to make enough of an impact within the next three seasons.
  3. Not sure why they haven't given Eloy reps to try to learn 1B, so he can serve as a backup 1B instead of wasting an active roster spot on guys like Moustakas or Sheets. Rather have the three men flexible bench of these three getting regular playing time (Sosa (24) INF/OF, Shewmake (26) INF and Fletcher (26) / Colas (25) RF/ BU OF) than having Moustakas, Mendick and Pillar who have no trade or future value. Also nice to hear Chris Singleton interviewed on the radio broadcast. Not sure if he was forced out of his decade plus ESPN weekly radio gig, but he did a great job with both the White Sox and nationally.
  4. Jesse Chavez is 9 days older than Chris Getz. Dominic Fletcher is six inches smaller than Chris Getz. Kevin Pillar is 35 years old. .692 is his best the first three real seasons this decade. Mike Moustakas is 35 years old. .685 is his best the first three real seasons this decade. This is not a serious franchise and won't be until a person without Reinsdorf in their name is controlling the franchise.
  5. I can see no threads for even real games as there were past year due to apathy and disgust. Speaking of apathy and disgust, the Sox are 72 games better with Sheets out of the lineup than in it, despite the fact other RF candidates have also been been flawed (Eaton, Lamb, Vaughn, Colas, etc.). Between 2021-2023, Sox are net -72 (Sheets’ TWTW score) worse when Gavin Sheets plays (127-172 -45) vs. when he doesn’t play (109-82 27). This isn’t merely a coincidence, or a product of his usage (best relievers plus Billy Hamilton used to protect leads late). His poor fielding and hitting area net drag on team performance. He should be stashed in Charlotte or DFA’d, or given away for even the flimsiest of returns. Sheets has no value on a MLB team.
  6. Setting aside JR's ludicrous faux GM job search, in the same mold as Tony's, who by the way is still rummaging around doing unknown damage to morale and actual decisions, I was willing to give Getz some time. I've liked the FO decisions he made, especially the lack of attractiveness of working in an organization operated by Jerry Reinsdorf. Was also fine to pleased with many of his moves, and the few that were head scratchers like Maldonado are one year deals on guys they can hopefully flush if their prospects are ready. The past few weeks have been really concerting. I realize young starters are hard to come by, unless they are apparently named Mena, so was OK taking a chance on some mid 20s rotation guys with some pedigree and or fixable / improvable mechanics to give the Sox much needed innings. Pillar and Mendick are OK as final reserves who provide positional flexibility, but WTF is this Moustakas, Brett Phillips, Rafael Ortega, Mark Payton s%*#? The Sox need to spend their time developing their young players, not serving as a boarding house for guys who are either done or never were to begin with.
  7. Putting a positive in this thread before it's mercifully locked away in the Soxtalk Archieves. Didn't see this highlight posted earlier, so here we go with Tim Elko's first White Sox HR, and John Schriffen's first home run call in his new full time White Sox announcer role.
  8. Same with those repulsive casinos in seemingly every suburban grocery store, barber shop and beef stand, or the large casinos. Money that would be spent on other entertainment options are siphoned into a machine one twenty or c-note at a time. My favorite beef place and Italian grocery store put machines in this month (in neighboring Harwood Heights). Potterville in It's a Wonderful Life seems so quaint. People need to shift their economic activity from these worldwide corporations to local shops, businesses, banks and credit unions, etc. I don't have or use an app for anything beyond downloading for a plane ticket.
  9. This division has been dismal for nearly the 30 years it's been in existence, but you already know that. This thread is to discuss any A. L. Central related news. 10. I'm not sure that would be the overriding reason vs. all the owners opposing because: Pissing away a viable $2B expansion team location. Shifting a team from revenue sharing payor to revenue sharing recipient, which all the remaining American cities without an MLB team would be based on their very small population and purchasing power. Also, regardless of what short-term boost a team may get from moving to a much smaller market willing to hand out more corporate welfare, long term a team will make more staying in Chicago than moving to Portland, Nashville, Salt Lake City or Charlotte. The Athletics will be worth less over time in Vegas than if they accepted one of the solid offers they received in Oakland. There will continue to be far more demand for Golden Knights tickets than John Fisher's A's will merit. Vegas could work if done right, but few people, even the Chamber of Commerce, is enthusiastic getting John Fisher and his garbage organization he nuked since purchasing, Jerry would be worth far less if they moved to Tampa, and the new ownership group will be worth less in Nashville over time than if they stayed in Chicago. Doubt sitting outside in Nashville in the Summer will be an attractive proposition, especially since baseball ranks behind several sports options including the SEC, NFL, NBA, NASCAR, possibly their NHL team. MLB also backtracked from expansion is inevitable as soon as Oakland and Tampa's stadium schemes are resolved to Manfred wants to approve expansion before leaving in 2029. People in various cities across the country are fighting the obscene grift. Perhaps 70 years too late in most of America, but better late than never.
  11. Manfred made it so we can all see a player's underwear or going commando without a player dropping their pants.
  12. Thank you so much!!! Need to figure out how to stream Tabasco games, could be more entertaining than White Sox baseball. Hope he can play well and perhaps get a call up at some point back to MLB to play for a contender and be a game changing threat on the bases or in the outfield late. https://www.instagram.com/olmecastabasco/reel/C3l5VfNrzrn/ https://olmecastabasco.mx/boletin-de-prensa/el-correcaminos-hamilton-acuerda-para-la-temporada-2024-con-olmecas/
  13. They got me excited on the radio broadcast saying Billy Hamilton was in camp with Cincinnati, but there is no change in his free agent status.
  14. La Russa and the assholes he recruited (primarily Lynn and Kelly). Keuchel was an asshat before and after La Russa.
  15. I was happy 10 games would be broadcast this spring, but the past two hours have been hard to handle. Relievers have been good, but the Sox sound to be overmatched by who ever the Cubs are inserting to pitch. I wonder how Spring Training revenue is split between the home and away clubs. Sox play in Mesa three of the four games not counting the prospect game.
  16. Chris Getz is the fourth in a succession of White Sox GMs , and the fifth in Jerry Reinsdorf's ownership tenure, who value TWTW, The Will To Win, above all other quantitative metrics in vogue around MLB. WAR - Common metric used by most people to record a player's total contribution to a team's performance. TWTW - Chicago White Sox proprietary methodology used to record a player's total contribution to a team's performance, TWTW is a revolutionary concept established by Hawk Harrelson in 1986. Larry Himes was the lone non-adherent and was quickly fired as a result. Ron, Kenny and Rick all followed the core principles of TWTW until they left the organization. Sox fans can sleep well at night knowing Chris Getz is also a firm believer in the TWTW philosophy. Chris acknowledged TWTW as a key component to his approach this offseason, during his interview with Scott Merkin published yesterday. https://www.mlb.com/whitesox/news/chris-getz-discusses-first-six-months-as-white-sox-gm Jerry Reinsdorf is fully committed to the TWTW philosophy. Rather than pay players top dollar for the Ohtani's and Trout's of this world. he is able to reward players who do things his way, the White Sox way, and pay less money for players unwanted by the other 29 ballclubs using modern metrics to evaluate players. With Liam and Tim's 2024 status settled this week, I can now unveil the secrets of TWTW as they apply to the 2024 Chicago White Sox including The Departed. TWTW Score = Net wins/losses above/below .500 vs. White Sox overall record. Can only be earned as a member of the Chicago White Sox (founded in 1981). Example: Sammy Peralta has a positive 20 score, based on the fact the White Sox were only 10 games under .500 during games he appeared, whereas the White Sox were 30 games under .500 in games he did not appear. Note: A player's TWTW does not reset if they leave and return to the team. TWTW scores live in perpetuity, like the eternal flame in Arlington Virginia. This rule is also known as The Harold Baines Rule. TWTW and Game Winning RBIs were the two key metrics used by Jerry and Tony to shove Harold into the BBHOF. 17. Happ up for the second time this inning. Katz finally out there. He was supposed to pitch one inning at 34 pitches with one out still elusive.
  18. For those who can't access twitter, or can't access sequential posts with the implemented Twitter changes between last season and this one. Elon is an asshole.
