  1. Never understood the fans trashing other teams or fan bases. It's stupid, because just like the Cubs, the White Sox have played and won the one postseason series against each, and also own the all time series record against both teams (Houston (39-38) & Cubs (74-66)). At least the Cubs were able to salvage two games in the World Series. I liked the Astros growing up, Jose Cruz, J. R. Richard, Cesar Cedeno, Nolan Ryan, Mike Scott. Respected them in 2005. Haven't liked them since the douchebag GM was taunting women reporters about Osuna. Jim Crane is trash, he should have been suspended or forced to sell the team if MLB had any balls and/or sense. I won't like them until he is gone, because it will take his departure to finally remove the stench from that franchise.
  2. MLB knows a little more than you do, and determined Tony's suspension this month, and Tyler Duffy and Rocco Baldelli's suspensions in May. There was absolutely no legitimate reason to throw at Yermin. He did nothing to harm or injure a Twin. It was solely on the basis of the neanderthal code La Russa embraces more than the actual MLB rules, or the team he is hired to manage. It was absolutely pathetic that La Russa not only did not attempt to protect his player, but actually condoned Yermin being hit, and then denigrated him for a week. Again, LaRussa embraced and lied on behalf of the disgraced cheater years after both were out of the Cardinals organization. He didn't have to call him out, just say no comment instead of lying about his taking "yeast" and saying PEDs were for a short period for his injured heal, when McGwire took PEDs his entire career. These comments were made a few years ago, not in the 1980s, not in the 1990s, not in the 2000s. Then again, La Russa is infamous for his revolting comments over the past decade.
  3. I meant two off seasons ago, and it was only a 50 game suspension based on first offense rules at the time (80 games today).
  4. Yes, there was no reason for an intentional HBP, because it wasn't intentional. Ohtani was intentional, which is why Tony and Wright were suspended. Yermin was intentional beaned by the Twins. Tony celebrated it, condoned it, embraced it. Karinchak didn't intentionally hit Abreu. Tony intentionally attacked an opposing player. Tony would have stepped on Abreu to get to Perez if Abreu's body was in the way of his direct path to physically attack Perez. In terms of Tony LaRouche devotee ThirdGen, Tony lied about a lifetime of steroid user before, during and AFTER he left the Cardinals, hired the disgraceful lifelong cheater player after his playing career was over onto his crony staff carousel. Also, Jack McDowell is far more credible than Mark McGwire and his MLB career enabler.
  5. Did the players apologize to the General Manager for their temper tantrum accusing him of tanking the season at the trade deadline? https://sports.yahoo.com/mariners-players-gm-jerry-dipoto-kendall-graveman-trade-astros-mlb-033541868.html Dipoto acquired the following as a result of the trade temper tantrum and subsequent moves: Joe Smith with a 2.00 ERA 3 Wins, better than Graveman Astros ERA (3.00) Abraham Toro with a 0.8 fWAR in his two months in Seattle, including two home runs against the Astros immediately after the trade. Plus Diego Castillo 2.95 ERA 3 Wins & Tyler Anderson 0.5 fWAR, 2-2 4.50 ERA starter in separate transactions
  6. Why would he be held to a different standard than the player with a 80 game steroid suspension signed last offseason?
  7. For starters, he shouldn't have installed the scoreboard camera. Nobody forced him to lie about McGwire's use, or embrace him and hire him in his traveling crony hiring crew. And he has zero credibility regarding beanballs, as a lifelong proponent of this, and actually condoning the hitting of his own player earlier this year for the violation of the only thing Tony is cognizant of these days, the "unwritten rules", Also doesn't go out to check on the players he actually gives a shit about getting hit, runs right past them to shove an opposing player or yell at the umpire about more unwritten rules bullshit. He needs to slither away this offseason.
  8. Can keep his timing fresh with a simulated game or two. Still don’t agree with starting the opening series next season with Tim on the bench. Could be a short season with another owner lockout, this one either over the CBA and or a third attempted Owner COVID lockout (2020 actual plus attempted Spring Training shutdown this season).
  9. Video Evidence of Tim shoving Tim Timmons in the chest which pushes him back a few feet. Timmons immediately ejects Tim Anderson. They better appeal this before the Detroit series, so Tim isn't suspended to start 2022.
  10. Truly a lost season for Engel when most would have expected perhaps a few weeks out to start the season based on initial reports. He’ll make the roster even if he is limited to non consecutive starts, but any game he can play effectively at this point should be treated as a bonus. We’ll have to wait and see regarding Vaughn’s status since he only had a pinch hit appearance vs. the Reds, and is 3 for 38 in September.
  11. Thoughts and prayers, Caufield, thoughts and prayers.
  12. Good news, Mike Wright Jr. is warming up in the bullpen.
  13. Noah Syndergaard earned $9.7m prorated last year and $9.7m full this year, to rehab and pitch one inning yesterday. Not a bad gig.
  14. I hope they can appeal this via Zoom Thursday or Friday, knock it down to 0-2 games if possible. No need to start 2022 with Tim riding pine.
  15. They did for earlier Keuchel and Kopech starts (pitch and or inning targets). It’s not as though there is a strategic concern, unlike a postseason game. Robert with five plays in CF already, wonder if he’s pulled to rest after 4-5 innings. ?
  16. Did they state a pitch count limit for Rodon?
  17. That's fine and all, but Tony has condoned, benefitted from, and defended cheating and cheaters his entire career, and is the one manager of the two suspended for the intentional hitting of Ohtani last week. So if you oppose both, that is a credible stance, though there is evidence of Hinch stopping the cheating condoned by his Front Office and mostly likely Assholes Ownership by destroying the video monitor used for the scheme, replaced by the FO / Ownership immediately after to keep the scheme going. https://www.sportingnews.com/us/mlb/news/jack-mcdowell-80s-white-sox-tony-la-russa-cheated/fac8vh3ph8vb1dkja2jox1n10 https://www.stltoday.com/sports/baseball/professional/la-russa-defends-mcgwire-and-steroids-legacy-laments-his-own-personal-life-in-tv-interview/article_127068e9-dca2-5ba5-a525-d2bef2c21a7b.html Yeast my ass. It's not the shoes, or the heels, Tony.
  18. Yep, you’re right, thanks for correcting.
  19. Lucas is the Ace of the staff, I expect him slotted for Game 1 of the ALDS, regardless of opponent or location. Jumping to a 1-0 lead in a best of five is huge, the Sox would have won if Keuchel was even decent, or the Sox had a third starter last season.
  20. They will have a higher payroll to work with, and a solid GM seeking value over making a splash. They will not compete for the NL Central, but do believe they will make the playoffs if they are expanded to 16 teams as expected. They do have a solid 10-12 players to start the process, including the two the Sox handed them for Kimbrel.
  21. The key for buying scalped tickets, for those unsuccessful today, is to be patient and be able to walk away from a price too high. The electronic aspect of this may throw a monkey wrench into getting tickets at or after the start of the game, when scalpers are dropping prices to salvage something. The good news for fans looking secondary is the fact that Houston and Tampa fans will not be driving up demand. Yankees or Boston would push up demand more, at minimum by their knucklehead fans living here, though Boston tickets were reasonable here in 2005 (lower bowl $75-$100). Angel tickets for the next round cost the same on the open market, even though the subsequent series is typically worth more on the open market.
  22. I love Moncada, but Tim is more valuable to this team based on non numerical data, such as his leadership pulling the team together and inspiring others. He also is a spark plug to start the offense when he is playing well, which is most of the time. I agree strictly on numerical data, Yoan is the same / has a slight advantage, and is more important in the future based on being two years younger. I do disagree with the thought of moving Tim down in the lineup. He is doing well in that spot, his replacement may not do as well or suffer a drop off based on the psychological impact of batting lead off, which similar to closing, requires a different mindset and approach. Never “fix” what is not broken.
  23. So sick of this intentional beanball bullshit because Jerry’s dumbass brought back this cro-magnon. The playoffs start in a week, it’s time to focus on what matters.
  24. If you have Noah Syndergaard as the 42nd pitcher used by the Mets this season on your bingo card, congratulations. The New York Mets paid Noah Syndergaard $9.7M this season to serve as the opener of tonight's meaningless game against the Miami Marlins. Both teams have locked in losing seasons. Noah recorded two strikeouts, 9 strikes and 1 ball, in one inning served. Hand picked up the win after pitching the top of the 9th, after the Mets scored one after James McCann reached on a fielder's choice and plated Javier Baez after Anthony Bass failed to field his slow roller. All other teams on the previous leaderboard, both hitting and pitching, remained the same with five days to go in the MLB regular season, baring any Game 163. Number of Hitters used (1 + plate appearance) 53 MLB Record - Tied (Current NL Record 53 (2006 Washington Nationals) & Current AL Record 53 (1915 Philadelphia Athletics)) (50) Four way 2021 Tie: Chicago Cubs, Miami Marlins, New York Mets, Los Angeles Dodgers Pitching Standings through September 24th (All teams 2021 except for the 2019 Seattle Mariners): (42) 2021 New York Mets (NL Record & co-MLB record) 2021 Baltimore Orioles & 2019 Seattle Mariners (co-AL Record & co-MLB record) (41) Arizona Diamondbacks & Tampa Bay Rays (40) Los Angeles Angels (39) Chicago Cubs & Los Angeles Dodgers (38) Toronto Blue Jays
