  1. Video from when Rick Hahn informed Jerry Reinsdorf of the Andrew Benintendi deal.
  2. I agree there should be a floor (MLB shared revenue), but there is more parity today than there was back when Americans in general actually cared about the sport. Connie Mack’s Athletics we’re basically the Yankees feeder system. Yankees dominated MLB for decades. They haven’t won since George died. The Dodgers have had the top MLB payroll most seasons after McCourt was forced out by Bud Selig. They have won a single World Series, that during the sham 2020 60 game owner lockout year, over the decade plus. The disparity is primarily the fault of letting a half dozen owners maximize profit by fielding minor league guys wearing MLB laundry, and pocketing $50M + each season for merely existing.
  3. I was hoping Cubs solely for the fact it would make Jerry seethe to the point of pushing him and his family out of 35th and Shields. I can always ignore garbage Cubs fans and garbage Chicago and National media. I believe all teams go through MLB.com international for game access. I wonder if the Dodgers could establish their own Japanese TV Network, or whether that would violate MLB bylaws. The Yankees and Red Sox owners don’t care about winning championships. John Henry tried to destroy the EPL and other European Leagues with his Super League garbage. He also tried changing the English relegation system. He is pure unadulterated evil and scum. George’s kids just want to profit, are being pushed by Cohen to spend and retain local market share. Angels feel compelled to try to retain relevance in Los Angeles. Jerry frankly doesn’t give a rats ass beyond his pettiness, arrogance and greed.

  5. This. I think an Ohtani signing with the Cubs would force the Sox to respond with a big investment, or possibly pushing Jerry to sell shortly after creating the new TV package. My first inclination was Jerry wouldn’t have a tanking bottom three payroll like Fischer, but after researching further this is what he did in the 1980s. The team won despite this because of the efforts of Larry Himes, who was fired for doing a good job but failing to kiss Jerry’s ass sufficiently. White Sox MLB Payroll Rank - 26 Team Era 1984 - 1992: 1984 (2); 1985 (19); 1986 (18); 1987 (21): 1988 (24); 1989 (24); 1990 (25); 1991 (21); 1992 (14). White Sox MLB Payroll Rank - 28 Team Era 1993 - 1997: 1993 (5); 1994 (8); 1995 (6); 1996 (5); 1997 (14). White Sox MLB Payroll Rank - 30 Team Era 1998 - 2023: 1998 (18); 1999 (24); 2000 (25); 2001 (14); 2002 (18); 2003 (22); 2004 (14); 2005 (13); 2006 (5); 2007 (5); 2008 (5); 2009 (11); 2010 (9); 2011 (7); 2012 (12); 2013 (11); 2014 (23); 2015 (15); 2016 (16); 2017 (23); 2018 (29); 2019 (26); 2020 (17); 2021 (15); 2022 (7); 2023 (13).
  6. Ozzie undermined Renteria, Cairo and Grifol because he wanted their job. Jerry is the core problem, and Ozzie will continue to kiss Jerry’s ass every single second until the checks stop. He will only criticize scapegoats Jerry wants / demands be criticized (primarily the players who Jerry has hated since the day he became owner). Ozzie would be gone faster than you can say the name Harry Caray or Jason Benetti if Ozzie said Jerry needs to hire good people and stay out of baseball decisions, which Jerry clearly is still not qualified to opine on despite being owner for 43 years. Ozzie knows this, has lived under Jerry as manager, but will never say it. Ditto Steve Stone, battling the Florida guy for telling the truth about Jerry’s advice to him as a young executive “always finish second, offer a carrot to fans”.
  7. The win loss record between 2023 - 2025 does not really matter. The Sox would have lost less then 100 last year if they kept many of the players they dumped in July. Their record to close out the year caused them to lose 101. That said, the fire sale was the smart thing to do. Ditto 2024-2025. Progress should be measured by whether Getz and his team substantially improve the method to acquire and develop players, and hold players accountable, and to build a sustainable core organization over the next few years. The won loss record (90 / 95 / 100 losses) is not important the next two years. I’m approaching these games as I did in 2019.
  8. Definitely agree the salary floor should be at minimum the amount each team gets as their TV / MLB.com deal. I would also add the amount of additional revenue sharing teams get. MLB has the RSN issue causing the greatest disparity (ownership of RSN vs. non ownership and market size) that also impact the NHL and NBA but not to the same extent. Several owners choose not spend what they could afford to and still make profit. They choose to maximize net income derived off of teams which actually try to compete and drive most of the interest in the sport. These teams basically serve as cannon fodder by choice, the Washington Generals, for fielding losing teams. Still need smart management. Jerry would have the same issues winning with Dodgers revenue, due to his front office selections (Gar Pax or Ken Hahn) and stubbornness. Tampa Bay Rays, Cleveland Guardians FO / Org (plus the Padres deceased owner or the Mets’ Cohen willing to spend) would possibly equal a dynasty. Money a big factor, but would take smart FO over dumb money (Top 5/10 revenue with bottom 5/10 FO/Org talent like the Sox and Bulls).
  9. Katy' Perry's Booty Holes, both the twitter handle and in real life, are more trustworthy than jon Morosi. Agree with the Cubs North Shore fan base (Hahn, Reinsdorf et al) but the area was dicey, feel Bridgeport was and is safer than Wrigleyville. Got cleaned up and Yuppied up 1980s-2010s, but there are more robberies, car jackings and other crime in that neighborhood today than in Bridgeport. Also, the Yankees earn the 1st or 2nd most revenue in MLB, but haven't made a World Series since George Steinbrenner died in 2010. 16 of 30 teams reached the World Series during this timeframe, whereas teams with high payrolls such as the Yankees and Padres never reached. Between revenue sharing, keeping players under control for six MLB years and other incentives for the 16 teams which receive revenue sharing, there is plenty opportunity to be successful both financially and on the field if you build your organization with smart people. There are successful small market teams in each league, and a majority of teams from the largest markets which by and large have sucked for decades with one shining moment at best (Jets, Mets, Rangers, Islanders, Clippers, Angels, Bears, White Sox, Bulls, Cubs,). Sure the Yankees and Dodgers have a head start, but they've won one World Series combined since 2010, or the same as the Kansas City Royals juggernaut. Number of different teams which have won a championship since 2010 by sport/league: Eleven National Collegiate Athletic Association Division 1 Baseball (Arizona, California Los Angeles, Coastal Carolina, Florida, Louisiana State, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Oregon State, South Carolina, Vanderbilt, Virginia) Ten Major League Baseball (Atlanta, Boston, Chicago N. L., Houston, Kansas City, Los Angeles N. L., Saint Louis, San Francisco, Texas, Washington) Major League Soccer (Atlanta, Colorado, Columbus, Kansas City, Los Angeles FC, Los Angeles Galaxy, New York City FC, Portland, Seattle, Toronto) National Football League (Baltimore, Denver, Green Bay, Kansas City, Los Angeles NFC, New England, New York NFC, Philadelphia, Seattle, Tampa Bay) Nine National Basketball Association (Cleveland, Dallas, Denver, Golden State, Los Angeles Lakers, Miami, Milwaukee, San Antonio, Toronto) National Collegiate Athletic Association Men's Division 1 Basketball (Baylor, Connecticut, Duke, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisville, North Carolina, Villanova, Virginia) National Hockey League (Boston, Chicago, Colorado, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Pittsburgh, Saint Louis, Tampa Bay, Washington) Seven National Collegiate Athletic Association Division 1-A Football (Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida State, Georgia, Louisiana State, Ohio State) Union of European Football Associations Men's Champions League (Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Chelsea, Inter Milan, Liverpool, Manchester City, Real Madrid) Five English Premier League (Chelsea, Leicester City, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United)
  10. This Chuck rips what he is ordered to rip. Ricky to usher in DUI Guy. The players to have a scapegoat. Steve Stone has the same marching orders. Ditto Ozzie and the others.
  11. I created this thread, based on the failed putrid Jerry hiring process and Getz’ record with player development, but I’ve been please what what he has done to date and believe he is 1,000% better than the previous GM. The US Office Producers made one mistake the first several years, and that was not to go with this, their original theme song for the show. The Kinks’s = The Premier British Invasion Band!
  12. Walking on a Wire, Higher and Higher Hahn told the truth, but he’s still a liar…
  13. I don’t follow the NBA anymore, so thanks for the explanation. If I were a Bulls fan, I wouldn’t be happy the family plans on keeping the team. Imagine if Jerry didn’t inherit Jordan. Moving Krause from the Sox to the Bulls was the one thing Jerry did right competitively as owner of either team. At least Sox fans have some hope of regime change possibly within this decade.
  14. It will be hilarious if the Dodgers fire David Roberts for Ohtani signing elsewhere, after all those years of a majority of fans wanting him gone and the team sticking with him. He would be a convenient scapegoat.
  15. Wasn’t the hiring of AKME universally praised over GarPax? Part of the problem is Jerry and Paxton are still around, same as Jerry and TLR. Still hard to believe Michael will try to field championship teams. They inherited Jordan, done little since. Jerry at least claims to be a baseball fan, though sadly a fan of a team from the 1940s and 1950s, plus of course David Eckstein.
  16. How does Toronto fit in with this? Weather sucks worse than Chicago (realize there is a dome, but you still spend the half the season there). Beyond getting the highest offer and paying a lower tax rate than playing in California, are there any other reported reasons why he would find Toronto attractive? Only thing I can think of is if they include a skydome suite since Lucas said Ohtani sleeps 14 hours a day, so he will never have to step foot outside unless it’s nice enough weather for the dome to be open. And the home of the slaves….. 46.2% Canada = 33% Fed + 13.2% Ont 50.3% California 37% Fed +13.3% Cal
  17. Agree with the decades part but not the past 13 seasons since George died in 2010. They are a top revenue team and top payroll team, but have thankfully sucked ass since George died. For people thinking Michael Reinsdorf will be an improvement, think again. Payroll rank past fourteen seasons (2010-2023 - Post George Era): First (five seasons) Second (five seasons) Third (two seasons) Fourth (one season) Sixth (one season) Playoff record past fourteen seasons: Did not qualify (four seasons) Lost coin flip wild card game (two seasons) Lost ALDS (three seasons) Lost ALCS (five seasons) Won AL Pennant (zero seasons) Teams that won a World Series since 2010 by OD Payroll Rank: 1st (Boston 2018) 2nd (Los Angeles N. L. 2020) 4th (Washington 2019) 4th (Boston 2013) 6th (Chicago N. L. 2016) 6th (San Francisco 2012) 7th (San Francisco 2014) 9th (Texas 2023) 10th (Houston 2022) 10th (Saint Louis 2011) 11th (San Francisco 2010) 14th (Atlanta 2021) 17th (Houston 2017) 17th (Kansas City 2015) Teams that won a Pennant since 2010 by OD Payroll Rank: 1st (Los Angeles N. L. 2015) 23rd (Cleveland 2016) 26th (Texas 2010) 28th (Tampa Bay 2020) Over half (16) of MLB teams reached the World Series since George died.
  18. If Jerry, Michael or any other goddamn Reinsdorf is involved, I have a two word response.
  19. Once Baltimore’s stadium is resolved, possibly over the next month or two, I see MLB naming two expansion cities over the next 12-18 months. Jerry isn’t going to get to move to Nashville as it will be likely one of two cities awarded an expansion franchise. I also can’t see him creating a new television network with Wirtz next year and nuking the value of that entity for some one time shakedown out of state. I also don’t see the Mayor or Governor racing to hand out hundreds of millions to a billion plus in new subsidies before their next elections. Jerry also has to live another few years which is not a certainty by any means.

  21. I would think a player would file a grievance if they were placed on an injury status without an injury. The rule is not 90 days on active roster and teams can do whatever. It's the entire year on the MLB roster, with the ability to IL a player and keep them if they were active for 90 calendar days. It is feasible if a player is close to 90 days and has a season ending injury, the club would play short handed and delay placement on the IL until the 90 calendar day threshold is met. If a player has a season ending injury in April, they can be returned, compensation can be negotiated to keep the player without future year restrictions, or the player has to qualify (90 day active roster, MLB active or IL the entire year) during the following year to be kept without future restrictions. The full rules are listed here: https://www.mlb.com/glossary/transactions/rule-5-draft
  22. No, they must remain on the MLB roster the entire year. The 90 days is the minimum a player must be active on the MLB roster to be kept without restrictions in future seasons.
  23. Players must remain on the active MLB roster for a minimum of 90 days within the following year. For players failing to reach that threshold due to injury, they are subject to the same 90 day minimum in future year(s) until they qualify, are returned, or are kept for considerations via trade.
