  2. If there is a second or third player they would like to acquire, can they DFA a rostered player during the draft, or must they do so before the draft begins? I believe the answer is no, so I would like them to DFA Remillard and possibly one other player who they can pass through waivers an reacquire for Charlotte if they want to later this offseason. Many teams pass on selections so there very well could be 2-3 players worth selecting.
  3. Chicago can’t adequately fund Park / School athletic facilities or a myriad of other capital projects. Billionaire owners need to primarily fund their own facilities like the UC and Wrigley Field, or they need to leave. Period. Comiskey Park II is perfectly fine. It’s the organization he leads that is abysmal. Really hoping Montreal gets an expansion team, the second team Jerry destroyed, so I can give zero fucks if he moves.
  4. I haven’t followed the team in a few years, but was previously a full season ticket holder (1987-2000), and I’ve never seen the Hawks with such a poor talent level as they played last night. They’ve had injuries plus whatever happened with Perry, but it looked like a Wolves game out there. Nashville didn’t look great either. The Hawks goalie #40 is the worst I can recall, and that 5 / 55 defensive pairing is horrendous. Connor Bedard has a lot of aspects to work on, hopefully he’ll get the support he needs. The 2023-2024 Sox have a much higher talent level.
  5. Jerry in the Owner’s box. Ray Rayner wearing the Sox Cubs helmet. My Aunt won the guess the number of jelly beans in his large jar contest and won a large Zenith television complete with a “space age” remote control back in the day where for many remote control meant getting off of your ass and flipping the knobs.
  6. Had to cap off Nashville suck day by watching the Hawks lose to Nashville via shootout at my first Hawks game since pre-Aldrich knowledge. Cannot pick within the first six 2025 selections: Oakland Athletics Cannot pick within the first nine 2025 selections: Chicago White Sox
  7. I'm fine with the Fedde deal, assuming he wasn't using the sticky stuff or other banned substances to succeed in Korea. It seems as though Boras goosed it an extra $4M ($2M per year), would be interesting to see if the Mets guaranteed more than $10M. The reason I'm responding is this tidbit in the linked article which makes me want to puke, unless they actually go out and get a legitimate player who can field in RF, and a 4th/5th OF so that Gavin Sheets never wears a mitt in MLB again. Would prefer to start Sheets in the minors unless Eloy is dumped. Hell, play Billy Hamilton over Sheets. A .500 OPS Billy can still score many runs every time reaching with steals of 2nd and a good number of steals of 3rd. He's still going to be a plus RF.
  8. it sucks because the White Sox will suck as bad or worse in 2024, but cannot pick i believe above number 10 (like Washington) for 2025 based on the rules, as the Sox are not a revenue sharing ballclub.
  9. f*** the City of Nashville f*** Brad Paisley f*** Pronk & Jose Ramirez f*** Modern Country Music That is all.
  10. This is my 55th year on Earth. I am starting with 1975, the first season I was cognizant of the White Sox (the year I graduated Kindergarten). 11. This. Everyone I listed was because of things off the field (beyond showing up players). Most players try their best, and that is all we as fans should ask for. Everyone has different talent levels. Doing continuous stupid s%*# without learning and improving is the area I tend to be harder on players than any other. Eloy, Madrigal, Eaton come to mind among recent players. Still doesn’t make them a top ten disliked player. Just want them to learn and stop doing dumb s%*# or just leave. We sat in the far upper deck and it looked like he puked on the mound and was accordingly pulled after another drinking binge, but it turned out he pulled something trying to field a bunt the game he was pulled after not retiring a single Cub. Thankfully Carlos Lee bailed him out via a walkoff home run. It was the only time I ever booed a White Sox player attending games from 1975-2023.
  12. I thought he would be a star based on the sound of the ball off of his bat in one of his first games when he crushed a HR off of Dewey in what would be his final appearance at Comiskey Park. https://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/CHA/CHA198409220.shtml That would be an awesome thread! I hope you create it and it gets more responses than this one. I have two periods I didn’t follow the White Sox on a close to day to day basis (1995-2003 & 2009-2018), so perhaps someone who listed him can chime in on why Brett Lawrie appeared on several lists. This is the only thing I remember about the career of Brett Lawrie, and I found it cool he surprised the choral after this video went viral.
  13. White Sox Hall of Shame (1975-2023) Alphabetical order Daryl Boston Brooks Boyer Mike Clevinger Eddie Einhorn Ozzie Guillen Dallas Keuchel Tony La Russa Lance Lynn Jerry Reinsdorf David Wells Clevenger and Guillen involved chewing tobacco. Ozzie pulled spent tobacco out of his mouth and threw it at a mother and daughter respectfully asking for an autograph. I witnessed this personally pregame working as an Andy Frain at the Crosstown Classic at Wrigley Field on May 19, 1986. I was only a junior in high school but wanted to jump into the first base dugout where I was stationed during batting / fielding practice and beat his ass.
  14. https://www.mlb.com/news/2024-mlb-draft-lottery-odds?t=mlb-draft-coverage We must all pull for one more final loss in 2023 for a 7th or worse pick to secure a chance at at Top 6 selection in 2025. Linda Kollmeyer at the controls.
  15. These cry baby bitches are 14 point underdogs against Georgia, one less than Liberty is getting against Oregon.
  16. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2023/12/tigers-sign-a-j-hinch-to-long-term-extension.html In addition, Joey Cora is joining the Tigers coaching staff as 3rd base coach. Hinch's previous deal ran through 2025 before this extension over an undisclosed term.
  17. I know my shitz. Jerry actually offered more money than Miami. The Angels offered more than both of them ($8M for four years). Jim choose working for a solid guy in Dave Dombrowski, fired by Hawk and Jerry a decade earlier, and won the World Series. Jim returned out of retirement to work for Dave Dombrowski once again, this time in Detroit. Beat the White Sox like a drum for a decade starting in 2006. Jason Benetti will tell us more about it next season after his career promotion from the Sox to the Tigers, the career upgrade Brooks Boyer's take. Bottom line, work for good people, and good things will happen to you and your career.
  18. Yes, Jerry views it as a win win, since he doesn't pay the buyouts, and doesn't spend international money. Hoping the Getz and others can convince Jerry to prioritize maximizing their international prospect return versus saving relative pennies while missing out on the dollars saved by quality cost controlled players. Agreed, they received prospects this time versus punting dead money. That said, if they can focus on drafting at least some teenage prospects they can get a higher upside versus buying older players that other teams passed on in their teens.
  19. Tanking for most owners means bottoming out payroll for max profits, not prioritizing higher draft slots. Would like to see more financial rewards for competing and doing the right thing such as the latest player fought for CBA measure awarding player bonuses for Top 100 prospects finishing Top 3 in ROY, MVP or Cy Young, and teams they play for getting added draft incentives for doing the right thing and not parking them in AAA to gain an extra contract year. Other improvements including making player payroll and adding a team win component for the numerator of the revenue sharing pie. Competitive lower market teams such as Tampa should get greater financial and player incentive over teams content with a guaranteed annual high profit via annual limited player payroll spend. Have the opposite of the luxury tax by taxing teams which do not spend at least the amount of shared revenue on player payroll, and close the loophole on underreported income from team owned RSNs and also Real Estate profits not captured under the current revenue sharing system.
  20. The Sox handed Texas $1.25M in international slot money to avoid paying a $500K buyout on Wellington Castillo and an $1.25M buyout to Nate Jones in 2019. Shipped over $3M away during the prior two seasons. I believe Hahn's last deal was prospects from LA for international slot money in early August. Hopefully Getz, Paddy and others can convince Jerry the fastest way to contention will be to accumulate as many prospects including International, as passible, and not limit the latter to older players defecting Cuba in their 20s.
  21. Yes, that is what I referenced. Jerry being Jerry with Lamont (and others) cost the Sox the chance of hiring Leyland. Jim knew firsthand how Jerry operated, told Jerry Hard Pass after resigning from his Pirates job dealing with a similar cheap ass owner. Went on to manage three World Series with Miami and Detroit, and made the Hall of Fame. Jim made wise decisions, stuck with situations where ownership committed to winning, or abruptly walked away leaving money on the table when the situation was not right. The White Sox job was not a good situation. Miami was a great situation and he took advantage. Jerry ordered the White Flag Trade in what would have been month four of Jim's tenure here. Hard Pass indeed.
  22. The school has a portion of $102.77 million reasons to play. Mike Norvell has $8.05M reasons to play, plus a $200,000 bonus for showing up to the Orange Bowl, because obviously over $8M per year is not nearly enough for Mike to make it day to day in Tallahassee. A Trail of Tears indeed.
  23. https://baseballhall.org/discover/contemporary-results He was the only elected person among the eight "Contemporary Era" nominees, and received 15 of 16 votes. Could have returned to manage here, but Jerry gonna Jerry. 1997 World Series Winner 2006 & 2012 American League Pennants 18th All Time in Managerial Wins (1769-1728) Three time Manager of the Year Award (1990, 1992, 2006) Lou Pinella missed by a single vote, Dave Johnson was the best person on that ballot and received less than 5 votes. WTF. Results from the Contemporary Era Voting announced today (12 of 16 required for induction): 15 Jim Leyland 11 Lou Piniella 10 Bill White < 5 Cito Gaston, Davey Johnson, Ed Montague, Hank Peters, Joe West.
