  1. One thing I think just about everybody is overlooking when they use season numbers to compare the Sox and Astros: 24.4% of Sox season plate appearances were by guys who will not be on the playoff roster (assuming no Goodwin with that figure). I know every team has had injuries, but I'm betting that figure is much higher for the Sox than the other playoff teams. To be more specific: Robert, Jimenez and Engel all has ZERO plate appearances against Houston this year. Sheets only had 6. That's close to have the lineup that Houston has seen very little or none of this year.
  2. I think Engel is the regular RF, and Vaughn rotates among RF/LF/1B/DH. Don't see the Sox being the highest bidder for Semien though.
  3. To use a more local example. Indianapolis is part of the Chicago blackout area. You can't watch Sox games on mlb.tv because MLB wants you to watch on NBCSC. Nobody in Indy carries NBCSC. There just isn't the demand for it. Even if there were a demand for it, how much value does NBCSC getting their commercials for local businesses in Chicago seen by people in Indy? It's just stupid. I get blacking out Sox games on mlb.tv in the Chicago metro. Maybe even Rockford/Peoria/Champaign/South Bend. But no farther.
  4. Is McEwing also the Yankees 3B coach?
  5. He said homers by both Schwarber and Rizzo real popular in the Chicago market.
  6. That's why giving pitchers huge contracts is a terrible idea.
  7. Love seeing someone the Yankees are paying that much money to giving it up.
  8. I think this is the first time I've ever watched a Yankees-Red Sox game.
  9. We need to know all the game thread starters' home/road and day/night splits to figure out who should start game 1.
  10. I have Xfinity and can watch MLBN or any other channel I get on the Xfinity stream app.
  11. I think the plan is to have Tepera-Bummer-Kimbrel-Hendriks be the 6th-7th-8th-9th inning guys. Tepera and Bummer could be swapped given whether more lefties are expected to bat in the 6th or 7th. I don't see Kopech in Game 1 or 2 unless the starter gets in trouble before the 6th or if one of the back end bullpen guys gets in trouble.
  12. Boston and St. Louis. Just have a feeling that Wainright will be unhittable and Cole will not.
  13. About 5 years ago, my parents finally joined the 21st century and switched from Xfinity to streaming. Then about 2 years ago, Xfinity came out with their own streaming option, and my parents switched back mainly because my Dad likes WGN and the Weather Channel and those seem to be uncommon on other streaming packages for some reason. So we have MLBN. They also ran a special where if you get internet/TV/mobile package there's a discount.
  14. From umpire scorecards: G1 HP Adam Hamari had two Sox games this year, home win 13-3 over MIN and 4-3 home win over BOS. Both games were rated as being called slightly in favor of the Sox G2 HP Chris Conroy had three Sox games this year, home win 11-0 over DET, home loss 9-3 to LAA and an 11-0 win at DET. All three games were rated as being slightly in favor of the team that won. G3 HP and Crew Chief Tom Hallion had two Sox games this year, 7-5 home win over SEA, 11-5 loss at DET. Both game were rated as being called slightly in favor of the opponent.
  15. There is no free local TV for any of the Wild Card or Division Series games. If you don't currently have a cable/satellite/streaming subscription that includes MLBN or FS1, you can get a 7-day free trial from one of them that includes MLBN and then cancel on the 7th day. I've never had mlb.tv, but my guess is that no postseason games are available on it. If you get a free trial for a service like I just described, most of them have streaming options.
  16. As bad as Eloy looks out there sometimes, speed is a component of being able to play outfield and Vaughn just can't cover ground. He's fine when something like this year happens and your 3 best OF all get injured, but he's never going to be a full time OF. Sheets is not redundant because there's really no other lefty power bat in the organization. There's nowhere in the near future that both Burger and Vaughn are in the lineup, so one of them can be traded.
  17. We know, we're just not telling Houston yet.
  18. If Cuba actually reformed things and became a democracy, would Havana be a good spot for an MLB franchise?
