  1. Kimberly faced 3 batters and got 2 outs. How is any of this on him?
  2. Doesn't matter who pitches, Sox relievers fall apart in the 8th.
  3. Oh no. He was set up there well before the ball got there.
  4. That's subjective and can't be reviewed, but umpires have gotten away from calling that so maybe a catcher or two needs to get run over to remind them why that rule is there.
  5. I don't know a lot about CP but is that something that would make COVID worse?
  6. There are lots of good quality human beings who suck at their jobs.
  7. I have to imagine if the owners are going to give up 4 home gates and 8 TV games then they'll want a full 16 team field to make that money up.
  8. vs RHP: TA, Yoan, Jose, Eloy, Yas, Luis, Vaughn, Goodwin, Hernandez vs LHP: TA, Yoan, Jose, Eloy, Vaughn, Luis, Yas, Engel, Hernandez
  9. If the TV money evens out, that's not a bad idea. Tweak the playoff format though. Instead of just 1 vs 8, 2 vs 7, etc. let the #1 seed pick which team seeded 5-8 they want to play. #2 gets 2nd pick.
  10. I understand that it will take at least a generation to see the impact of serious anti-poverty programs, which is exactly why politicians who need to get re-elected in 2-6 years won't make it a priority I'm not saying that people committing violent crimes shouldn't be held accountable. They should 100% be held accountable, but that alone isn't going to fix the problem. Accountability isn't much of a deterrent.
  11. First of all: condolences to strangesox and family on your loss Now, my rant: A crime needs three things: means, motive, opportunity. The political discourse in this country focuses entirely on the means--guns. I'm not saying that gun laws aren't needed or don't work, but if we want to get serious about violent crime in this country we need to attack motive and opportunity. Widespread poverty provides most of the motive and opportunity. Regradless of race, ethnicity or religion, kids from middle and upper class homes very rarely end up dealing drugs and committing violent crimes. If you have a promising future then death and jail are much more of a deterrent than if you grow up with nothing. Many of the perpetrators are under 18, some as young as 13, already dropped out of school and living the gang life. And we sit here on this message board and talk about free college and student loan forgiveness as if that's the progressive holy grail. All that's going to do is make a bunch of middle and upper class kids even more privileged than they already are, and will do incredibly little to fight poverty and the crime that comes with it.
  12. This is an entirely different situation. None of those guys ever got close to free agency. There's more incentive to take a team-friendly extension when you have that many years where something could go wrong. Rodon is also nowhere near as rich as guys like Buehrle, Konerko and Abreu that have signed team-friendly deals in the past.
  13. They pitch half their games in Oakland. And they have a remarkable defense behind them.
  14. This is what happens when you try and stick an outfielder at 1B.
  15. I've been saying that Vaughn needs to be the one hitting behind Eloy vs LHP.
  16. And now we have Collins batting because our pitchers dictate who catches each day rather than trying to gain a platoon advantage.
  17. One of the upgrades in the offseason needs to be a backup IF who is better than Leury/Mendick
