Since you never have to play more than 3 days in a row in the postseason, I really think they go with 12 pitchers so they can keep someone like Hamilton. I have the same list as you minus Ruiz.

I figured Wright would go down when Rodon returned and Mendick would go when Engel returned. Not sure what the value is in keeping Wright around (not that there's a lot of value in keeping Mendick around either).

I don't know whether or not the September 1 callup date is an exception to that rule, but if not, then just send down Lopez or Ruiz for 10 days so Seby can stay. With 2 days off next week and 2 opponents with weak lineups coming, they should be able to manage a pitcher short for 10 days.

Fewer strikeouts and more hard hit balls than the results would indicate but still good.

While both of those things are generally true, Ray is a top 5 pitcher in the AL so hits are going to be hard to come by.

vs RHP, I really like TA, Moncada, Jose, Eloy, Grandal, Robert, Vaughn, Hernandez, Goodwin/Engel I've been back and forth vs LHP. I was originally thinking Moncada 2nd and Robert 5th, but maybe now I'm leaning more toward Robert 2nd and Grandal or Vaughn 5th.

8/24 update: Sox now hold a 10 game lead over Cleveland, 12 over Detroit, with a magic number of 28. Tampa Bay has a 4 game lead over New York and 6.5 over Boston. Houston now has a 4.5 game lead over Oakland. Yankees now lead the Wild Card race by 2.5 games over Boston. Oakland is 2 games out of the 2nd WC spot, Seattle 3 out, Toronto 5.5 out Tampa leads the playoff seeding race by 4 over Houston and 5.5 over the Sox. In the NL, San Francisco's division lead over the Dodgers has edged back up to 2.5 games, and Cincinnati has taken a 1 game lead over San Diego for the 2nd WC spot.
