I think there's zero chance Moncada starts more than 5 games this week.

Cleveland at Sox-Game one, 7:10 CT
CentralChamps21 replied to Ducksnort's topic in 2022 Season in Review
Hitters are going to have to step it up this week. Can't expect the pitching to hold Cleveland and NY down as easily as they did with Cubs and Boston. -
Interesting that it's Burger and not Mendick.

Adam Frazier currently has a .659 OPS vs RHP and yes that sounds bad but it would be 5th best on the Sox, plus he's good at 2B and both corner OF spots. Even so, Adam Frazier was just an example, plug in any LH hitter with a worse overall OPS but good at 2B and/or OF and the team is better.

LOL who was picking the Cubs to be a postseason team?
-
Who thought Boston had a good off-season? I picked them to finish 4th and that's where they're going to finish. Nobody should discount this winning streak but also nobody should deny the reality that Cleveland and especially the Yankees are hitting much better than the Cubs and Boston right now and we cant count on continuing to win games scoring 3-4 runs every game.

More talent doesn't translate to the best team if your talent is highly concentrated among RH hitters who aren't good at any defensive position. Adam Frazier is less talented than Eloy Jimenez, Andrew Vaughn, and Jose Abreu, but if you replaced one of those three with Frazier you'd have a better team.

What exactly is "their proper share"? Universities don't turn profits on athletics. Revenue from football and basketball go to fund all the other sports. It might be "fair" for that revenue to go to the football and basketball players rather than volleyball and baseball scholarships, but is that really the best thing for everybody?

If my time and financial budget allows me to go to X games in a season, they're all going to be between mid-May and mid-September, regardless of how much excitement there is around the team. I went to a game against the Royals because it was my best friend's birthday and he hadn't been to a game in two years, but I'm never doing an April game again.

So here's a question: if Herta goes to F1 and especially if Norris is still there, with them both having started in IndyCar, would it be feasible to run an IndyCar race on the US F1 courses the day before the F1 race? And if so, would it be feasible for Herta and/or Norris to run both?

The entire bullpen this week: 22 1/3 IP, 2 ER, 12 H, 3 BB, 25 K, 0.81 ERA, 0.67 WHIP, 10.07 K/9, 8.33 K/BB

Old Sock Drawer, ex Sox player discussion
CentralChamps21 replied to elrockinMT's topic in The Diamond Club
Yes, he's done well in 8 MLB innings. Clearly he's going to have a long career as an elite closer. I hear they're building him his own wing in Cooperstown. -
-
Well then mods should understand that tomorrow is Monday.
-
If we're going to have all these races in the US, can we at least get one good US driver and/or team? All Haas is good for is finishing ahead of the cars that don't finish.
-
Need to have Grandal and his walks ahead of someone who can drive him in.
-
Except that we have had that before, several instances of white players doing it and not getting suspended.
-
So I didn't start a new thread. I put this in the injury thread and someone must have moved it and given it its own thread. In any case, I was able to edit the topic.

So in the end the Sox used Keuchel, Burr, Foster, Ruiz and Sousa and held them to two runs. I don't think you'd expect a AAA lineup to do worse against that group.
-
If he feels like he has a winnable appeal, then he needs to ride it out.
-
Apparently we can just send anybody out there in any inning and it works.
-
Banks is the 2nd LHP. Sousa is the 3rd.
-
I know Ruiz has been good recently but I think I'd prefer a 2nd inning of Foster if Graveman isn't available.
-
He didn't pitch yesterday.
