  1. I know no manager is ever going to do this, but Tim Anderson should not be batting leadoff, especially against RHP. He's a high average, moderate power guy who doesn't take a lot of walks or even take a lot of pitches. He profiles as a guy you bat 6th to drive in the middle of the order guys when they get on base but don't homer. Moncada and Grandal should be at the top of the order, with Robert-Vaughn-Abreu behind them.
  2. I also don't understand why Kelly kept throwing curve balls when none of them were finding the strike zone, especially with Judge-Rizzo-Stanton looming. Doesn't make any sense.
  3. Sox season BB rankings. 2022 (to date) 30th 2021 6th 2020 24th 2019 30th 2018 29th 2017 28th I stopped looking at this point because it was so depressing. This is a team that historically is bad at getting on base. Too many guys that swing way too much. Some of it has to fall on the hitting instructor, but some of it lies on management for acquiring so many guys that already had this approach before they got here. A lot of the same guys also have limited defensive value. This is a poorly constructed team on the position player side and I've been saying this for a while now. Their pure talent might win them the division, but this team will struggle to do well in the playoffs.
  4. Change up works a lot better when ahead in the count. You absolutely have to throw first pitch strikes to this lineup. They crush you when they get ahead in the count.
  5. Not gonna try hard in the field in a contract year.
  6. My dad taught me how to keep score at my first game when I was 4. Still have the scorecard. Thome homered against the Marlins.
  7. I'm watching the Twins lose again and when Luis Arraez came up, his walkup music was Hava Negila and I have questions.
  8. 4 home games in December/January. NFL trying to warm Bears fans up to the idea of an indoor stadium in Arlington Heights, perhaps?
  9. Which is more remarkable: Sox scoring 4 runs without a hit or Ozzie drawing a walk?
  10. Before a game starts, the home team determines how long a delay goes. Once it has started, the umpires decide.
  11. You really want to encourage parents to get kids watching baseball, so that's the biggest factor. My parents are about as un-prudish (if that's a word) as you get and they didn't let me watch stuff with f-bombs or brief nudity until I was about 13. Even when you know your kids are hearing/seeing it elsewhere, it's another thing to actively permit it.
  12. I have to think he at least gets called up to make a couple starts during this stretch of 18 games in 17 days, and then based on that they can make a full season decision on him after that.
  13. I'm sorry, I don't know this guy and didn't intend to imply that. I was just pointing out that accusers span the entire range of credibility.
  14. Yeah, I understand that discrimination occurs and is a problem, but I also know there are nutcases out there. A guy threatened a lawsuit against my dad and one of his clients for refusing to sell a house to him because he's trans. His offer was 20% below asking price and 35% below the highest offer.
  15. Whistleblower is going to have to be named if the suit goes forward though, right? That person is going to have to go on the record as to why they believed the firing was discrimination.
  16. An internal investigation ought to be able to confirm this Is Hahn really dumb enough to actually tell "individual A" this?
  17. We have Kelly and Graveman and somehow Ruiz has the 8th.
  18. This is a fast moving game in the bottom of the 7th already and it's absolutely insane that Sale and Buehrle once pitched a game that was over by now.
  19. Madrigal, injured? Who could have guessed that?
