  1. Leury was really playing well offensively until he ruptured the thumb ligament last year. when he returned in the playoffs last year and until yesterday he has looked bad at the plate. I had the same injury playing basketball when I was a young teacher. I was also playing in a semi-pro baseball league with collage kids at the time. I had no power in my hand because of the injury. A doubled in the last game of the season for my only base hit. The next year I was back to hitting hr's, doubles, & triples. Of course I didn't get the great rehab Leury has access to, but don't be surprised if the pop starts returning to his bat again. I believe he had 7 hr before the injury last year.
  2. Also it was August/Sept when Crochet was hitting 102. He had built up arm strength and the weather was hot...much easier to get lose and let it go.
  3. As someone who has had Covid, I was told I could test positive for up to 3 months after being infected.
  4. Isn't Marwen Gonzalez still out there? He can play most anywhere and fill DH until Vaughn is ready. He can give moncada & Abreu a day off from fielding. He is Eaton/jimenez injury insurance. Switch hitter
  5. Yes, currently they are 2 franchises going opposite directions. Still the cubs are the brand name. I don't think the league would mind the sox leaving and ceding the market to the cubs. Wouldn't the sox in Vegas being a bookend to the Raiders be sweet for the league. Think of the merchandise possibilities. Same color scheme. we both have a somewhat maverick/checkered past. A team WILL be put in Montreal soon - prolly the rays. Mexico City - what about that market!
  6. I agree, but a new owner might have different motives.
  7. a market that is dominated by the (currently) more popular Cubs.
  8. Really? we were minutes away from being the St, Pete sailors. Veeck was going to either Milwaukee or Denver. The league wants Montreal to have a franchise again. Vegas may also be a possibilty
  9. Be careful what you wish for. When Jerry goes the team could be sold to someone who wants to go to Montreal or Portland.
  10. Schilling being a republican did not keep him from being elected. Saying stuff that is bat shit crazy and racially insensitive may have had something to do with it. Supporting an insurrection may have rubbed people the wrong way as well. There are and will be plenty of Republicans in the HOF.
  11. The tribe also lost the last 3 games of the year to the sox in Cleveland when they could have made the wild card. It was the the sox bench that beat the tribe the last 2 games as starters were rested. Ozzie gave the choke sign to the crowd when he made a late pitching change. They choked.
  12. I think you were thinking of Jim Rice, who like Murray, pissed off reporters and took forever to be elected.
  13. Regarding Dye's last season. The first half the sox were wondering if they could find the money to extend. After the second half they had no intention of extending him.
  14. Nothing of significance. As frustrated as the sox fan base is of Reinsdorf, at least we will half -ass it and get hendriks and maybe Cruz, Grandal last year, I live in the St. Lou metro area. The cards NEVER outbid anyone for anybody. This despite having a packed house every game. The problem is the cards are the only game in town with a great history and they know the fans will come no matter what. Hell, we even outbid them for Luis Robert...thank God. Sad things is they may lose Wainwright, Molina, & wong and still win the central
  15. I believe joe jackson and bucky weaver were killing it in the last pandemic year.
  16. I don't think you want your 2nd catcher DHing. I know we did that last year some, but we were carrying 3 catchers with covid rosters
  17. How about 3 years 105 mil with 3 more years at 35m per but with mutual opt outs.
