Dunn, Rios, and Peavy
I concur. All 3 are untradeable. Nobody in their right minds would want any of the trio for a myriad of reasons.

I've never seen a team fail to compete on a daily/weekly basis like this team. Worst season I can remember in a long long time.

Ozzie is leaving on a jetplane
QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 24, 2011 -> 01:57 AM) If I didn't know better, I'd think KW is inferring that Ozzie is long gone after next week. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/break...0,2605712.story Somebody's going to be the scapegoat, we know that. These guys should be a package deal. If one is fired, both should be axed.

QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Sep 24, 2011 -> 02:26 AM) I have never disliked a White Sox team quite this much. Man, I want to see a lot of changes this off-season. Me too. This team blows. I know "it doesn't matter," but this is why I despise this team. KC just beats the s*** out of us in KC a few days ago in taking 3 of 4. We get them at home and lose 11-1. I mean, what the f***?? This is these guys' jobs. They just don't compete. They don't hustle. They don't get down and dirty. They don't give a s***. Tonight's result proves it ... again. But it doesn't matter. We're already out of it. Today's game means nothing. Calm down. Bulls***. How anybody could pay for season tickets next year is beyond me. What a waste of money.

QUOTE (High Mileage @ Sep 24, 2011 -> 02:06 AM) Rebuilding is going to be a long and painful process for your franchise. The next few years will weed out the fake fans... Very true. On paper, this team is bad. Very bad.

Royals @ sox
I know these games mean nothing. Glad to see the Sox are playing like they mean nothing, whereas the Royals are kicking the living s*** out of them. These rich millionaires should walk into the stands in the seventh inning and give each fan a pair of 20 dollar bills. f***ing joke. I worship Ozzie and want him to stay, but once again IF he gets fired there is just cause. This team is a joke. And this board all season has been hilarious. For so long everybody shrugged off games saying "it's still early." Now you'll laugh at a post like mine cause, 'these games mean nothing anyway.' What games DO MEAN SOMETHING in a season??

QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Sep 24, 2011 -> 02:06 AM) Are you guys gonna watch next year? Seems doubful with some of the comments made about 2012. I'm just down on Humber and Zach.

As far as I'm concerned Zack and Phil are nothing special. Maybe No. 5 guys; maybe. Sox are in a load of hurt next season.

Will JR do the right thing?
QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Sep 23, 2011 -> 08:32 PM) I don't think the White Sox can afford to lose our leader and Ozzie must be signed to a long term contract (6-8 years minimum) immediately. Let's hope talk of a new contract is going on behind the scenes and something is announced this week. Come on JR......make the first step today towards bringing the World Series back to the southside. Secure Ozzie as our manager longterm and keep our greatest asset. Call me dumb, but is Sin City being sarcastic or not? I hate all the sarcasm on the board. If he's being serious, I agree with his first post.

a "successful season" in the major leagues
QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 23, 2011 -> 01:08 AM) I've actually been clicking to un-ignore him the last few weeks to see how hard he's taking the eventual Ozzie firing. I still say I'm taking it well. I've pointed out a million times I love the guy and want him to stay but I think even Ozzie knows deep down it wouldn't be unfair (in baseball terms) to can him for this year's effort. He could have gotten the axe in mid May. This team's start with this huge payroll was unacceptable. In my mind, this year is summarized by... -- The awful start record-wise. -- The refusal to bring up Dayan. -- The refusal to make any trades or acquisitions of note (again) at the all star break or right before the break. And the biggie ... -- The inability to move runners and all the men left on base. Bases loaded one out; second and third nobody out; first and third one out ... most of the time it was ZERO or one run at most. (The way Phil and Zach have been going it would have been interesting to see if we blew the division the last two weeks of the season had we actually competed and been in the race; with Jake out as well, our rotation has been crummy).

9/22/11 - Sox @ Cle - 6:05p on CSN
QUOTE (knightni @ Sep 22, 2011 -> 11:13 PM) So, birth certificate says 30 but he says 33. Interesting. Maybe his contract isn't that great after all. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 23, 2011 -> 12:27 AM) Fukudome has destroyed the Sox since the Indians acquired him. Wouldn't shock me if KW goes after him this offseason for some position. QUOTE (VictoryMC98 @ Sep 23, 2011 -> 12:36 AM) This season was lost before August... After the July 31st trade deadline, the White Sox got weaker, the Tigers got stronger.. 1.My god, Lexi is 33?? That is ridiculously old. I always thought of him as 26 or so. 33? Is anybody else alarmed? 2.) I was thinking the same thing today about Fukodome. My god he's torched the Sox. We could have used his bat at the break for sure. 3.) Is anybody else worried about Humber and Zach? How can we chalk it all up to overuse? I mean if Phil had had these results the first half we'd all think he was just a hack. Is Phil a good starting candidate for next year?? Zach?? I am thinking they may be more like the hacks the Royals throw out there than playoff caliber starters.

a "successful season" in the major leagues
QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 22, 2011 -> 09:43 PM) This is buffoonery at its finest. So because Cleveland and Detroit are miserable cities, the Sox don't take going there seriously? And that's on the schedulers?! And in this vast conspiracy to ensure that the Yankees and Red Sox play each other more often, you know who should be the most pissed off? The f***ing Yankees and Red Sox. You know why? Because they are often the two best (or top few) teams in the league, and they have to play superior competition more regularly in order to make the playoffs. You know what that does? It makes their run at the postseason more difficult. So no, your theory isn't as good as any because it's f***ing stupid. It's almost as stupid a theory that Ozzie Guillen should be retained as manager because people will say hi to him at restaurants. It's not as good as any other theory. It's just your opinion, which you're entitled to, but your opinion is completely f***ing moronic. You had some good words in the post: buffoonery, moronic and of course, f***ing.

a "successful season" in the major leagues
QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Sep 22, 2011 -> 08:09 PM) Come on, greg, I dislike the Yankees/BoSox love as much as the next guy, but the scheduling of a lot of divisional games is not part of some vast conspracy. I think it is. Steinbrenner pushed for it so the Yankees could play the other Sox every other week. It truly sucks IMO. And as far as Milkman's rip of me ... what stats do you want for me to back up the fact we suck against teams in our division? I watch a lot of Royals games and they do perk up when they play the Sox. They throw at our batters, they steal bases, they act like badasses when they normally play like timid p*****s. We sleepwalk against divisional foes. I truly believe they want to kick Chicago's ass way more than we give a s*** about playing them in lousy towns like Cleveland and Detroit. Our players prolly hate going there to begin with and sleepwalk and get their asses kicked. Minnie and KC are nicer towns for them to drink in I'd guess. When they come to the Cell, these games should be sold as very important, but they are just dull ol divisional games. When the Bosox come to town or other teams it's a way bigger deal. We suck against the Central. My theory IMO is as good as any.

a "successful season" in the major leagues
You guys like the fact that we play Det, Cleve and KC and Minnie so many times? It sucks. This divisional crap was done so the Yankees could play the Bosox every other week. It is awful.

a "successful season" in the major leagues
I really think baseball sucks in one way: teams play divisional teams way too many times. This was done for ONE reason only: Yankees-Red Sox. Really really is awful. And as a White Sox fan it really bothers me because as much as you guys disagree with me on this, I truly feel the other teams in our division really get "alert" when we play them. I'd say extra fired up when they play the Sox, but it's not like it's a rah-rah sport. I just think our divisional foes are on top of their games WAY MORE when they play us than when they play the others in our division. Why?? Chicago is by far the best and biggest city in our division. We are the most recent to win a WS in our division. I HATE playing the teams in our division so many times.

Rios now has 12 homers which means he also has more than Dunn. Wow. When was Dunn's last home run of the 2011 season? June?

Why Would Guillen Want To Stay?
In answer to the thread title.... Reasons he might want to stay ... • Love of Chicago. It is a helluva town with passion for baseball. Fla. Nobody cares. • Chicago restaurants and things to do. Unless Ozzie truly loves boating Chicago is better. • Great uniforms. Best in baseball. Reasons he might want to leave. ... • Dunn. • Rios. • AJ can't throw anybody out. • No team speed. • Bullpen always looks good on paper but just is average. Add it all up and the team has .500 as it's high water mark. Chances of another s***ty season are pretty good; going to Florida gives him a fresh start. On paper our team is on the decline. Why should he want to be in charge as the ship continues to sink?

Sox best hitter endorses Walker
To me this thread says ... I respect Paulie, but ... he disagrees with me even though he works with Walker every day and sees Walker do his job every day, so he's wrong.

I haven't watched many games lately so it's glad to hear how well he's hitting.

2012 Manager's Traits
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Sep 20, 2011 -> 06:39 AM) I want someone who is fun. I want someone who does crazy stuff and will say crazy stuff to the media that will make us laugh and laugh, while doing dances in the dugout. I want someone with MLB experience but who has been in the spotlight pretty much all of his life. I also want someone who likes to dress overly nice to the point that he sticks out. Hey, so do I.

QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Sep 19, 2011 -> 08:13 PM) I refuse to believe that it will be worse next year. No effing way. Depends if the team makes personnel changes or not. This team had a season-high 5 game win streak and never got hot, never. That's not apt to suddenly turn around with the same guys. I realize DeAza and Viciedo will be added which on paper should help but it's not like we've played much better with them, either. It easily could be a worse season especially with Humber and Zach really truly looking ordinary of late.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 18, 2011 -> 07:31 PM) Didn't you say Ozzie would win 3 or 4 titles with Florida? Don't say crazy s*** like that and not expect mocking rebuttals. Even the way I pimp the man in my avy, I do so and have no problem with anybody who wants to fire back. And yes, the Blue Jays are still coming for everyone soon. Yeah but he just throws in a sarcastic answer that has nothing to do with anything except designed to get me to fire back and piss me off. In anybody's book that's baiting. People can blast me, but I don't troll for arguments. Arguments happen from things that I post that are in response to the topic at hand, not statements like his designed to anger me. I said Ozzie will be in the Hall of Fame cause he has one title already and figures to win 1 or 2 more in his next 20 or so years of his career. He has tons of years left as a manager, thus the odds are good that he wins a title or two and that, folks, means Hall of Fame for him. He's already got one and he's under 50. He easily will manage another 20 years.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 18, 2011 -> 11:42 AM) The only reason they were anywhere near .500 was Ozzie and his managing like the magician he is. Now the Marlins are going to give him 4 years and probably have some sort of ceremony like when the Heat signed the 3 dopes last year. Probably at least half of the 150 people that go to Marlins games will show up. Ozzie is going to be collecting rings in Miami and Sox fans will have a team that consistently finishes in 4th and 5th place. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 18, 2011 -> 01:20 PM) You didn't hear? It's been reported by multiple media outlets that Albert Pujols is most definitely NOT resigning with the Cardinals. The teams that are believed to be in the running for his services are the Cubs, Blue Jays, Nationals, Braves and Marlins. Albert is on record saying he will wait to see how the "Ozzie Guillen saga plays out" and then make a "Decision." But let's be honest. If the Marlins get Guillen then Albert, like LeBron, will take his talents to South Beach so he can win not one, not two, not three, not four, sheeetttttttt, not even five championships. Why are posts like yours good for a message board? You just trying to bait me into fighting about Ozzie? I make a simple point that the Sox record is finally starting to resemble the team's play and you come up with sarcastic trash about Ozzie. Weak.

At least the Sox record is starting to resemble the season they had. This team was WAY s***tier than .500, now the record is starting to reflect how bad this team is.
