QUOTE (Reddy @ Sep 27, 2011 -> 05:24 AM) the players (konerko) all but said they didn't like playing for him! If they didn't like playing for him ... good luck to them with the next guy.

QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Sep 27, 2011 -> 05:24 AM) Number 1 starter of all time? Wtf? BTW, I'd rather have a manager with zero personality that wins a lot of games than a loud mouth with a mediocre record. As Ozzie said, "winning is fun." I said modern history. Some of the old timers might be "better." Who is a more productive starter than Mark in modern Sox history???
-
QUOTE (Reddy @ Sep 27, 2011 -> 05:18 AM) so you're going to say the media are wrong. the players are wrong. we're all wrong. and that ozzie guillen was actually a really nice guy - just misunderstood? QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 27, 2011 -> 05:20 AM) I wish the Ozzie supporters on here would be as classy as their idol was tonight. Ozzie's gone, KW is still here. Is KW the problem? Quite possibly yes, but trust me when I say he won't continue to stay in his position the next few years if the team continues to falter. 1.) Yeah I would. He was a players' manager for sure. 2.) Have you read some of the posts attacking me? It's a 2 way street. It's not easy to always turn the other cheek, sir.

QUOTE (winninguglyin83 @ Sep 27, 2011 -> 05:15 AM) They just showed about 10 minutes of Konerko on Comcast. His basic manage was it was time for a change and that Ozzie is going to be fine. Listening to Konerko, the message was clear that the players had enough of the drama. Can't be surprising. It takes 2 people to have "drama." Too bad he wasn't completely honest and mentioned KW as well. Or was Ozzie a one man "drama king." Not exactly. KW is no saint.

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 27, 2011 -> 05:13 AM) Actually, Ozzie said by far the thing he'd miss the most is the players. Carry on greg Yes and if they throw him under the bus like the one person was suggesting he can mail them a picture of him smiling with the WS trophy. Also ... it won't take him long to love his new players in Florida. Ozzie is not being banished to Siberia. He's still a manager. In Florida, a great place to live. I fully expect him to be inducted in the Hall of Fame someday. He's got one title. He prolly only needs one more to assure induction in the Hall. Maybe two more, but he's well on his way at a very young age.

QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Sep 27, 2011 -> 05:11 AM) It's good that you love him, but I can't stand him. No sarcasm at all. But I don't want to waste an Ozzie Guillen thread on Mark f***ing Buehrle, so I won't mention him anymore. I wonder of Ozzie was serious about his coaches not following him... How can you not stand Mark Buehrle? Seriously. Do you realize he is the No. 1 starter in Sox history? Do you not like the Buehrle of the last month? The games he's been hit in? I mean you do realize he's the best starter in (modern) Sox history, don't you???
-
QUOTE (Soxfest @ Sep 27, 2011 -> 05:09 AM) You will hear alot more from guys now Guillen is gone alot of guys were tired of his act, but could not rock the boat with OG still here. And big deal. Ozzie Guillen will may them a picture of himself smiling with the WS Trophy. p.s. I'm sure he's sick of their act as well. These well paid players played like bums. No manager in baseball could survive this season - one with Adam Dunn n Rios on the roster.
-
QUOTE (Reddy @ Sep 27, 2011 -> 05:08 AM) i love this guy. i'ma miss him. Miss him when? Where's he goin? Rebuilding is no fun. Sox need to RELOAD. 90-100 loss seasons will spell disaster for this franchise. Once people get used to losing, 20,000 will be a big crowd except when Yankee and Bosox fans fill the stadium. And of course the 3 games vs. the Flubs.

QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Sep 27, 2011 -> 05:01 AM) Not at all. I can't stand either one of them. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 27, 2011 -> 05:02 AM) I'll let you know when it happens. I have a serious question, though. When the hell did you learn how to quote people? 1.) I assume you are kidding about Buehrle. What's not to like about him? I never know if anybody is being sarcastic anymore on the board. I love Buehrle. 2.) That's what I thought. I don't understand your second question.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 27, 2011 -> 04:29 AM) The only person that would care is someone that doesn't know s*** about baseball and watches to be entertained by a colorful manager. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 27, 2011 -> 04:30 AM) Just going by what you've given us. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 27, 2011 -> 04:31 AM) Apparently Greg would be pissed if he was a Royals fan even if they made the playoffs because of the "plain vanilla" personality of Ned Yost. Because your manager leading the majors in getting in news stories (the majority negative) is more important. All/any publicity is good publicity, etc. Face of the franchise, blah blah blah. QUOTE (chiguy79 @ Sep 27, 2011 -> 04:32 AM) This is just part of the mass exodus about to take place, sox will get a cheap manager to fill in while they cut payroll and try to reload. Q, MB and AJ will all be gone. Season ticket holders are going to be cut in half and avg attendance next year will be QUOTE (Reddy @ Sep 27, 2011 -> 04:37 AM) I was hoping you'd say these: 1) Signing Dunn was a prudent baseball move that ANY GM would have made given the opportunity. No one saw this coming - NO ONE. Not even you. 2) Getting Rios' potential for a bag of balls was a risky, but a high risk high reward move. So it hasn't panned out, but if you have the opportunity to make that move, I'd rather have the GM who takes a risk and loses than the one that sits on his thumbs and does nothing. 3) Did you forsee the explosion of all our closers? And for the record, as has been stated, if all the other parts had clicked, even with the closing issues we'd be contending. 4) Beckham not hitting is NOT KW's fault. I didn't realize he's the one coaching him in the cage. Whodathunkit? 1.) I resent all these personal attacks. I played baseball just like the rest of you. I know baseball whether you sabes people realize it or not. Give me a break. You are not god; I am not god; we all are mere mortals. Give me an Internet break please. 2.) Thanks Milkman. You still can't get it through your head that anybody that disagrees with you just might be correct once in a while. Or do you think your positions on everything are 100 percent correct and mine are 100 percent wrong? I have admitted many times I don't know it all; would u admit you might be wrong about something Sox related? Ever? 3.) I like Ozzie's personality. It made baseball "fun" for me. Yes I hate the Ned Yost personalities. If we win the pennant with the next guy, I'm sure I'll grow fond of him. I truly think it'll be Buddy Bell and it's hard to grow fond of Buddy Bell. 4.) I agree as of today the future looks very bleak on the South Side. That can change in a hurry. KW needs to hire somebody like Piniella and fast. If he goes the dull route, I'd go Sandberg over Bell. 5.) Wow, You guys hate my backing of Ozzie, but many of you post a post like that backing KW. Lots of people on this board didn't love Dunn. I applauded the signing cause I trusted my fellow board members. I figured they were sooo excited and Dunn would be the man again. Cmon. The Rios signing was a JOKE. Our bullpen hasn't been good since Joe Morgan said it was the best in baseball history or something like that. This all said, I wish the Sox the best. I wanna win. And I hope the Marlins win the NL every year with Ozzeroo. I hope our fans don't boo him if/when we meet in the WS or intraleague. Ozzie truly gets the last laugh here. He I'm sure will get a nice contract in Florida, which like Chicago is a helluva nice place to be only way better weather in the winter. His stay in Chicago was WAY longer than most managers/coaches stay with their respective teams. GO SOX/MARLINS.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 27, 2011 -> 04:26 AM) Our little gregory. Throwing a hissy fit won't bring your manager back. Cheer up and go watch cartoons. I'm not throwing any fit. I'm not going to celebrate the loss of an icon. You know nothing about me. How do you know I don't like to watch hour upon hour of the History Channel? You assume I am some sort of cartoon loving clown.

QUOTE (Reddy @ Sep 27, 2011 -> 04:23 AM) I would LOVE a KW puppet. Know why? because teams are built to play the way they're built to play - ozzie trying to play smallball with a power hitting team has always been retarded. retarded. A GM has to have power over his manager and personnel. End of story. This whole "manager is the face of the franchise" bulls*** is over, and good riddance. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Sep 27, 2011 -> 04:23 AM) And Jermaine Dye in his final season was a great defender. 1.) Buddy Bell here we come. Or maybe Joey Cora? I would expect a very very quiet, dull, even ornery to the media Bevington type personality wise. 2.) I loved Jermaine Dye.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 27, 2011 -> 04:22 AM) Greg, your post may be absolutely terrible, but at least we know you are still alive and didnt slit your wrists. Change is coming, finally. The cheap White Sox now have a chance to sell season tickets this winter. I'd expect an all out blame game heading Oz's way. That way not a lot of roster changes will need to be made to keep fans' hope up. They'll be blaming Ozzie and saying we have one of the best rotations in baseball (yeah right, with Zach and Humber in the rotation and Mark maybe gone). And they'll be saying Dunn n Rios and Beckham now have new life. Ticket sales will skyrocket?

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 27, 2011 -> 04:18 AM) Aren't you so happy?! Why would I be happy? He's a great manager. No surprise though. It was obvious he'd be gone for a long time. Get ready for a KW puppet. I'd expect next season most fans will turn on KW when we suck again. Hard to blame Ozzie for next year when he's sunning in Florida.
-
Smartest move the Marlins ever made. Sox are close to being irrelevant in this town of Chicago, losing a headline stealer like Ozzie. If you think that's not important in this Cubbie-town I believe u are mistaken. KW better make some significant changes cause the manager wasn't the problem with this poorly built team. Ozzie's better off in Florida. I hope the Sox make significant player changes for the Buddy Bell era. It's no fun being on the downslide. The Royals are coming and we are sliding personnel-wise. Good luck, Ozzie. You are the best manager in Sox history. Good luck, Ozzie successor. This season sucked and we fans want to have something to cheer about during the season as well as the postseason. KW won't make the same mistake again. He'll hire a Williams puppet. Hope he picks a good man. I wanna win. From the espn.com story "Only Jimmy Dykes and Al Lopez have won more games as White Sox manager than Guillen, who led the club to the World Series title in 2005. Now in his eighth year at the helm, Guillen said he never expected to ride the coattails of that championship forever."
-
You Ozzie haters should want him to return. This team is so lousy he'll be guaranteed a horrific season and you'll really see him suffer in his last year in Chicago as his contract runs out. As far as Buddy Bell, why would he want the job? And why would we want him? Horrible manager.

QUOTE (Marty34 @ Sep 26, 2011 -> 05:21 PM) Where's my props for calling this a mediocre team before the season started? This, in the face of many 90-win predictions on the board. Good call, Marty. The way we are finishing the season with a 4-11 record I think in our last 15, don't you agree we will lose 90-95 games next year w/out changes? This team is really really bad on paper. -

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Sep 26, 2011 -> 08:00 AM) If anyone from the Sox team/coaching staff walked in the same bar/restaurant I was in I would still want to talk to them if they were open to it, because it's awesome to talk about the Sox (it's why we still do it even though they break our hearts almost every season). That said, Ozzie is an arrogant ass with discriminatory undertones, and if he ever said something to me that bothered me you bet your ass I would either just leave him, or call him out on it. Any why bring KW into this? Why is it always "Person A is too blame!" "No person B sucks more!!" Why the f*** can't we talk about one individual who has sucked balls without you bringing up Rios, Dunn, or KW? This sport is played independently enough that it's just fine to have a conversation about one person, without having to s*** over everybody else (usually when that has already been done). Well sorry, but they were mocking me again about my comment about the restaurant and Ozzie. The sarcasm meter is bad these days on soxtalk IMO so I had to respond. -

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 26, 2011 -> 04:57 AM) f*** that. If he walks into a restaurant that i'm frequenting and I don't smile, i deem him unfit. i better f***in' smile for the future next white sox manager. Ugh. I stand by my statement. You Ozzie haters would hate it if u were in the same bar/restaurant oz walked in. Not all Sox fans think he's the devil. KW put this team together. This s***ty team. -

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 26, 2011 -> 05:11 AM) Hawk is the quintessential company man. I usually hate him, so trust me when I say that he's been better the last few weeks. I think the reason for that, though, is that the company line is changing against Ozzie. So he's not speaking out against the company. The company's view just changed. Have you listened to other teams' announcers? What Hawk said today would get most fired. -
QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 26, 2011 -> 12:50 AM) As of now this team looks they have nothing but a lot #4 or #5 starters. Barring some creative stuff in the offseason, I see the Sox as being a 90-100 loss team next year. This year was a sign of things to come; we're a slow team that needs to hit homers to score and only Paulie and CQ can hit 'em. Zach and Humber do not look good. If Mark is gone we got Danks and Floyd and pray for rain.

Francona would be good if he gets canned. He's colorful like Ozzie. Not a dull mum company man like Ned Yost n most of 'em. -

You Hawk haters can hate on him all you want, but there's only one announcer in baseball who would have said what he said today. He said it was unbelievable to him and he repeated in a loud voice, unbelievable, that a team with this talent finished under .500. Nobody gets away with that, except Sox announcers. Most announcers suck the company line. -

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 25, 2011 -> 10:27 PM) The only time "savior" was used in sentences with "Viciedo" was when the people that DIDN'T want him called up would say, "Viciedo won't be a savior to this team." People that wanted him called up simply said that he would help a struggling offense and/or be a surefire upgrade from Dunn. I wish people would read better. The end of this year can't come soon enough. Dayan, who I think will be great, has what, one home run? I can't believe he took that first pitch in that last at bat. What a meat ball. I know we want him disciplined, but then he swings at a horrible curve in the dirt and it's 0-2. I figured no way he'd get a hit after that, even against KC. Man, the Royals officially own the Sox, too. This team better figure a way to compete in divisional games. It's pretty piss poor and team won't contend next year AGAIN if it keeps up this s*** play vs. the Central. -

If Floyd has any balls, he'd drill Hosmer WOUT being told he has to by Ozzie. Paulie has a big knot on his elbow. Oh I know ... it doesn't matter. This game is meaningless.
