  1. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Sep 19, 2011 -> 08:13 PM) I refuse to believe that it will be worse next year. No effing way. Depends if the team makes personnel changes or not. This team had a season-high 5 game win streak and never got hot, never. That's not apt to suddenly turn around with the same guys. I realize DeAza and Viciedo will be added which on paper should help but it's not like we've played much better with them, either. It easily could be a worse season especially with Humber and Zach really truly looking ordinary of late.
  2. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 18, 2011 -> 07:31 PM) Didn't you say Ozzie would win 3 or 4 titles with Florida? Don't say crazy s*** like that and not expect mocking rebuttals. Even the way I pimp the man in my avy, I do so and have no problem with anybody who wants to fire back. And yes, the Blue Jays are still coming for everyone soon. Yeah but he just throws in a sarcastic answer that has nothing to do with anything except designed to get me to fire back and piss me off. In anybody's book that's baiting. People can blast me, but I don't troll for arguments. Arguments happen from things that I post that are in response to the topic at hand, not statements like his designed to anger me. I said Ozzie will be in the Hall of Fame cause he has one title already and figures to win 1 or 2 more in his next 20 or so years of his career. He has tons of years left as a manager, thus the odds are good that he wins a title or two and that, folks, means Hall of Fame for him. He's already got one and he's under 50. He easily will manage another 20 years.
  3. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 18, 2011 -> 11:42 AM) The only reason they were anywhere near .500 was Ozzie and his managing like the magician he is. Now the Marlins are going to give him 4 years and probably have some sort of ceremony like when the Heat signed the 3 dopes last year. Probably at least half of the 150 people that go to Marlins games will show up. Ozzie is going to be collecting rings in Miami and Sox fans will have a team that consistently finishes in 4th and 5th place. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 18, 2011 -> 01:20 PM) You didn't hear? It's been reported by multiple media outlets that Albert Pujols is most definitely NOT resigning with the Cardinals. The teams that are believed to be in the running for his services are the Cubs, Blue Jays, Nationals, Braves and Marlins. Albert is on record saying he will wait to see how the "Ozzie Guillen saga plays out" and then make a "Decision." But let's be honest. If the Marlins get Guillen then Albert, like LeBron, will take his talents to South Beach so he can win not one, not two, not three, not four, sheeetttttttt, not even five championships. Why are posts like yours good for a message board? You just trying to bait me into fighting about Ozzie? I make a simple point that the Sox record is finally starting to resemble the team's play and you come up with sarcastic trash about Ozzie. Weak.
  4. At least the Sox record is starting to resemble the season they had. This team was WAY s***tier than .500, now the record is starting to reflect how bad this team is.
  5. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 17, 2011 -> 09:49 PM) If Adam Dunn was total trash the Sox wouldn't have signed him for four years. Oh wait........................................................... Yes but Dunn was signed to a four-year deal coming off good seasons. Florida is about to sign Ozzie coming off the most frustrating season of his career (considering the All-In bulls*** and expectations). So Florida thinks he is special obviously. Obviously the Sox wouldn't sign Dunn right now if his contract was out.
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 17, 2011 -> 10:39 PM) about 90% of this post I was ready to sit there and say, wow, this all makes sense. But you couldn't resist. You had to throw something in that made the post unable to respect. You just had to. Somebody on this board wrote the other day Florida was going to sign him for (four) years. Why the venom with me repeating that? If a guy is 'total trash' then why would another team give him a nice deal??
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 17, 2011 -> 05:38 PM) Development is impossible. That 2nd half never happened. Glad to see he's doing well. He has only 34 RBIs all year though? Yikes. Who would have thought Beckham would have such a crap season. If he does this again next year, what makes him any better than somebody like Getz? Beckham is a good fielder, though, damn good.
  8. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Sep 17, 2011 -> 08:41 PM) Lifetime Passes, brought to you by Greg. Where you can go from the top of the mountain, slowly lose your mind and start sucking ass at your job, and never worry about job security. You'd be the greatest boss in the world, make 1 big sale and then do whatever the hell you want. It's quite simple. I don't see how anybody can call him a "piece of trash manager" when he led a CHICAGO team to a WS. When I see outlandish s*** like that, I feel like saying something in support of Oz. You can say he lost the team but he's not a piece of trash manager. I mean he's been in Chicago longer than most managers/coaches stay with their teams. Change is coming but if he was total trash Florida wouldn't be ready to sign him for four years.
  9. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 17, 2011 -> 02:19 PM) As a manager, he's trash. That piece of trash manager gave you the best moment of your baseball life. A world title. Oh I forgot, the Sox won in spite of him just like the Sox won in spite of all the other managers they've had since 1917.
  10. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 17, 2011 -> 05:52 AM) Exactly. How else would we have won a championship with that piece of trash manager, Ozzie Guillen? I hope you are joking. You can normally do better than resort to calling a human being a "piece of trash." Weak.
  11. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Sep 17, 2011 -> 05:04 AM) Who isn't there concern about ? True, but if Humber pitched like this first half we'd all really be down on him. I guess he could have a tired arm but this ain't looking good.
  12. QUOTE (chw42 @ Sep 17, 2011 -> 05:29 AM) We could be the laughing stock in all of baseball. But there's teams with larger payrolls that suck even more, so that doesn't happen. The Sox losing streak might hit double digits this time. Our team is dead and the Royals are on a mission to finish strong.
  13. QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Sep 16, 2011 -> 11:45 PM) kenny should be gone before ozzie for this crap he put together QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 17, 2011 -> 01:37 AM) Bob Nightengale says Ozzie's back if he wants to return. 1.) I wanna marry a girl like Melissa in my next life. Yes! 2.) How the frick would Bob Nightengale know? Just wonderin.
  14. QUOTE (chw42 @ Sep 17, 2011 -> 03:05 AM) Greg says people in Lawrence think otherwise...even "sabes" people. KC fans have no reason to laugh at anybody. They haven't played a meaningful baseball game in about 20 years.
  15. Didn't see the game. I'm assuming Humber sucked? Should there be concern considering how blah a pitcher he was in second half? Nice to see Beckham's line. And you gotta love DeAza.
  16. I'm surprised none of you worshiped Parque as I did. He was supposed to be the next Billy Pierce.
  17. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Sep 16, 2011 -> 10:04 PM) Jerry Reinsdorf could manage the team for all i care. If Dunn/Rios are batting a combined .300 and playing in late July/August with replacements riding the bench, the manager should be fired on the spot. That's really all there is to it. It's so unbelievably simple. I would have fired Ozzie immediately after he pinch hit Dunn for Lilibridge against the Twins. So let me get your position straight. Does Jensky Cat the manager start Dunn and bat him fourth or fifth next year? Does Cat start Rios? And when do you magically banish them to the bench for good if they pick up right where they left off? End of April, May, when team is five out, six out, seven out?? My point is this is a KW move. He must get rid of them and not handicap the new manager. I know. I know. We can't get rid of them. Nobody (but the Sox) are willing to take them. Good luck to Martinez in sorthing this one out. It will not start or end well because of KW acquiring them to begin with IMO.
  18. QUOTE (chw42 @ Sep 16, 2011 -> 10:39 PM) He brings it upon himself. It's part of the Internet world that resembles my old Queen of Martyrs grade school playground. I find it very interesting myself, this world we call message boards. Just because I disagree with the popular view I am evil and/or mocked. I don't care, though. I am a Sox fan like the rest of the people with more than 500 posts. And this is a playground not life and death.
  19. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 16, 2011 -> 07:53 PM) Rios cf, Dunn dh, There's your 5-6 spots. Can you give me one good reason Dunn should not be playing?? Because of KW the Sox are stuck with him THREE more years. Rios two more right? As much as you want to make them disappear, that will not happen. Why the f*** should Dunn NOT be playing?
  20. Question for the Oz haters: If the Sox hire Martinez and we still have this veteran team and we go 8-22 to start next season, would you bury him like you have Oz? I mean if we go 8-22 there will be a batch of in-game decisions that failed for sure, like leaving in starters too long or not bringing in the lefty to face a lefty and calling for the bunt too early in the game. How long will you give the new guy a break if the veteran team sucks? It will be difficult to blame Oz anymore if he's in Florida. I stand by my saying this team needs a crotchety old guy to manage the team next year if Oz must go.
  21. QUOTE (Fantl916 @ Sep 16, 2011 -> 07:54 PM) weird random idea... i was reading how the marlins are likely to increase their payroll significantly as they move into a new stadium and such. i could be off my rocker, but wouldnt the following trade make some sense as it solves problems on both ends? i imagine to sox would love this but how averse would the marlins be to this:: logan morrison for quentin, a prospect like mitchell, and ozzie? With the Sox luck, if they trade Mitchell he'll become the next Rock Raines. Looks like the Sox sold their soul to the devil for 05 with the bad luck since then and last 2 horrible seasons.
  22. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Sep 16, 2011 -> 07:21 PM) Ozzie...come on man. I feel for him, I don't want to see him gone from a "what the guy has done for me" stand point, but from a baseball standpoint I want him the f*** out. I can see Florida being humbling for him and I ultimately see him returning to the White Sox after Florida in some capacity if he goes out with dignity. Haven't DeAza and Tank played almost every day and Flowers a lot too? Also the young pitchers will keep getting used. I think this is overblown again. He's been playing AJ since he got back and Rios has kept playing, too. But the young guys have been playing. I think the big story is how many games we are going to finish below .500. Sox finally are on the death spiral that could put 'em six under after this KC series and freefalling toward a good draft pick.
  23. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Sep 16, 2011 -> 08:23 PM) BigSqwert: And Dunn goes down on strikes again. I'll tell ya, Greg, I'm surprised we didn't see a pinch hitter there. greg775: Well, it was the right decision. The guy makes a lot of money, he's gotta earn it. BigSqwert: But at the cost of losing the game? greg775: If that's what happens, then we all know who to blame. The bum who struck out. BigSqwert: *pause* Greg, you and I both knew Dunn had a better chance of striking out than driving in a run. *pause* *chuckle* Doesn't the manager know that? greg775: I talked to some friends in Lawrence, Kansas, and they said it's always the right decision to play the guy who makes the most money. BigSqwert: *pause* You know... *pause* I wish I could swear. You guys have lost it.
  24. How do they keep Moneyball interesting to the non baseball loving woman? Just simply keeping them happy looking at Pitt? Or is there more to the plot than sabes?
  25. Is Hosmer the best player in our division right now? In terms of youth and potential? Would you give up Danks and Floyd and Sergio for Hosmer right now? Straight up three for one??
