  1. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Sep 12, 2011 -> 04:37 AM) He's also 6'6, so while still fat, he doesn't look nearly as big as Bobby or C.C. or Broxton. That is true. He doesn't look like Babe Ruth with any gut. He really should consult with some hitting coach he respects to tell him the truth of what he needs to do to regain his home run touch. I'm assuming he's not too big on Walker. Somebody out there should be able to give him the tough love instruction this winter on how to adjust to the AL and the aging process. It's not good when Lilly looks like a much better power hitter than him.
  2. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 11, 2011 -> 08:37 PM) Holy strawman, Batman. You really would get along with greg in that regard. Yes he and I happen to agree on this Ozzie issue, just like you agree with people on certain issues. Yes he would get along with me in that regard. Is there something wrong with that? IMO you don't seem to understand the concept that somebody just might disagree with you on something and that those who disagree could actually be right once in a while. It's a masterful internet persona and I have congratulated u on perfecting it.
  3. QUOTE (mcgrad70 @ Sep 12, 2011 -> 03:01 AM) The Sox never recovered from those opening week blown saves by Thornton Guillen's mismanagement of pitching staffs, his bizarre aversion to sweeping series and his colossal disrespect for the paying fans are his lasting hallmarks. Just like people give Kenny a pass for his acquisition of Dunn (nobody could have envisioned his sudden decline), Ozzie should be given a pass for making Matt closer. Maybe some smart people knew he'd fail and predicted it on here (if you did, take a bow), but many thought he definitely deserved a shot at closing. Matt sucked big-time, but I think a majority of fans understood why he was given a shot at it over Sergio and Sale.
  4. QUOTE (chw42 @ Sep 12, 2011 -> 03:17 AM) No, it's not that. It's the fact you got all offended when people made Bobby Jenks fat jokes last year. Now you're doing the same to Dunn. Oh the irony. Good point. I'm going to try to never again refer to Dunn's weight. I shouldn't stoop to that level. I hope I get called on it again harshly if I do so. You can still hit home runs when you have girth. I hope he turns it around because it's going to suck watching him whiff, whiff whiff for 3 more years.
  5. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Sep 11, 2011 -> 08:40 PM) My head hurts. So does mine. Sergio has blown five saves hasn't he? He's 29 in 34 opportunities. Bobby was 27 saves with four blown last year. Remember that stretch last year when even as fatter Bobby, he was on a roll? Oh yes, people will tell me Bobby also sucked in games he lost or whatever. Matt Thornton really did a nice job in the role this year as well (sarcasm). I'm not ripping on Sergio, I like him a lot, but the man has blown a few games as most all closers do. Bobby is NOT the devil. Why would your head hurt when I point out those stats?? Some people act like Bobby never was productive in a White Sox uniform. Ever? Now somebody is going to respond and say 27 saves last year were totally worthless or misleading or something. I don't get it. Yes he's fat like Dunn. His production even last year, his worst in a long time, was 50 times better than equally fat Dunn's performance this year. BTW, Juan is up to .286. For non Sabes people, he's putting together a nice average.
  6. QUOTE (VictoryMC98 @ Sep 11, 2011 -> 07:42 PM) Thanks I might have a slight man crush on Jake, but I agree on the other 2.. Yeah, I felt kind of dirty lumping Jake in there. I do like his quotes in the paper and his attitude.
  7. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Sep 11, 2011 -> 07:41 PM) I don't pruf reed enuff as i tipe two quickyl Keep up the pressure means we shouldn't give up yet. Let's make as much of a push at the Tigers as we can regardless of what we think our chances may be I love El Rockin's faith. Ultimate optimist. This season cured me of that, however. Too dismal a season in almost all ways.
  8. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Sep 11, 2011 -> 07:40 PM) I'm not even gonna bother. I'm gonna take a page out of Milkman's book on how he deals with greg (though I like greg) You prolly hate me now after my last post. No offense by it, though. I just tire of the Ozzie hatred.
  9. QUOTE (VictoryMC98 @ Sep 11, 2011 -> 07:38 PM) What this "We've", Do you play, or work for the White SOX? So winning is your only criteria? Should you not be happy, and Ozzie is great, because we won that game? Good posts, Victory. Soxtalk is one place people b**** even when we win. Ozzie haters want him gone ... period. I want Dunn n Rios n Peavy gone.
  10. QUOTE (chw42 @ Sep 11, 2011 -> 07:19 PM) This is so ironic. Remember Bobby Jenks last season? When I was standing up for Jenks he still was earning a lot of saves. In fact, didn't he blow a similar amount to Sergio? And I like Sergio. And Matt? He was really good as closer this year. I said last year I was in favor of closer by committee with Jenks struggling some. Jenks was nowhere near as bad as Done.
  11. QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 11, 2011 -> 07:30 PM) Tragic Number - 8 At least they can't clinch here. This was the season that never was. Sucks to not be a contender except for one week of the season.
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 11, 2011 -> 06:54 PM) Many countries? There is no country in the world with a total $12 million government spending. Smallest I could find are in the range of $60-100 million. Then I'm wrong. I've been wrong before. This new Sox trend of blaming the manager not the player, though, is boring and troubling. I guess the Cubs blame their manager for years now for playing Soriano and not just benching him. And all the fans of players who suck blame the manager for playing them. I'd prefer to blame the fat ass player.
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 11, 2011 -> 06:44 PM) Because the big lug should not be seeing the field any more. Please Ozzie go to Florida. I so badly want to see the new manager get fried for decisions like playing Adam Dunn who makes more money than the entire budget of many countries.
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 11, 2011 -> 06:41 PM) As always, you continue to pretend that we didn't spend 4 months criticizing Dunn. I've noticed an amazing trend shifting to blaming Ozzie for playing him WAY MORE than the big lug sucking.
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 11, 2011 -> 06:37 PM) If they legitimately wanted to make the playoffs...yeah, those guys would have become platoon players and then moved towards the bench by mid-season. So here's the future of this board. Every f***ing time Dunn makes a whiff next season we're going to have to read criticism of Ozzie, not Dunn. Amazing and awful.
  16. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 11, 2011 -> 04:25 PM) I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but even if the Sox decide to step back and "rebuild", you're still going to have to watch Dunn and Rios everyday, especially if they stay with Ozzie, because his quote yesterday basically dismissed benching or pinch hitting for big salaried guys. I can't believe one quote from KW has switched the hate regarding Dunn and Rios from those two bums to Ozzie. Grown people believe you can just sit two guys who combined make about 30 million a year. You really think any team in baseball just won't use Dunn n Rios anymore when they are making that kind of jack?
  17. QUOTE (chw42 @ Sep 11, 2011 -> 06:52 AM) Then the question is: WHY THE f*** DOES HE PLAY HIM THEN? Because he's on a 4 year deal and he makes something like 14 mill a year. You may not like the reason, but that's it.
  18. If this is sarcasm fine. If it's mocking one of our only decent hitters, shame.
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 11, 2011 -> 04:20 AM) Ozzie said Dunn makes too much money to get PH for. He's right. Do any of you guys think Ozzie doesn't KNOW Dunn sucks?? He knows.
  20. Fresh quotes today on ESPN.com. You guys may be unhappy campers if Oz is right. "I expect to be back here next year," Guillen told ESPN 1000's "Talkin' Baseball" on Saturday. "I expect to be back here for a long time. I think I'm shooting for the moon, but I think my expectations are pretty high, always will be. I think there's no doubt in anybody's mind how much I love this organization, how much I love this city. ... [There were] two things that [were] my goals when I was a kid, that was to play in the big leagues and manage in the big leagues, and I did it with this organization. I expect to be back just not next year, I expect to be back here the next 20 years."
  21. QUOTE (Cali @ Sep 11, 2011 -> 02:03 AM) I gotta say I'm a big fan of Josh Lewin. I know in a million years Hawk wont be fired, but 'd love him as the play by play man in Chicago. What's wrong with Hawk?
  22. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Sep 10, 2011 -> 06:33 PM) SABRmetrics has jumped the shark. If you watch and understand the game you know Pierre did his job. You also know that the Tigers are simply better than the Sox. Exactly.
  23. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 10, 2011 -> 06:14 PM) Everyone clamouring for rebuilding and saying they would go to a ton of Sox games if the tickets were cheaper, your time is now. The games are meaningless, the younger players (even though most aren't that young) are playing, and tickets can be had on stubhub for $5. Step up to the plate. Great point. Nobody's going to go or care if our young guys are losing next year. Winning is everything.
  24. QUOTE (chw42 @ Sep 10, 2011 -> 03:23 AM) I expected more than replacement level production and horrid defense in April. I'm fine if Pierre did what he did last season (Play good defense, steal bases, have an okay OBP). But his defense and base running ability are nowhere near his production from last season. April, April, April. So sick of hearing about one month.
  25. I like "We're Doubling Down" It's kind of funny and isn't as obnoxious as All In. Good job.
