Looking ahead to the 2012 roster
QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 7, 2011 -> 03:53 AM) Sorry, I'm not a buyer yet. Let's see what happens next season if Coop's boys can handle the pressure. This is the Sox MO for the 21st century. Do you admit Sergio has had a great season as closer? He has imploded a few times but who hasn't on this s***ty team?

Stewart or Humber?
I hope these guys have "it" next April. These things can go year to year from guys without a track record. For all we know, Phil could get lit up next year just like that.

Looking ahead to the 2012 roster
QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 7, 2011 -> 12:46 AM) As for Sale being a starter, don't they have to stretch him out? How is that going to happen? It should have been done this year. I'm not ready to crown Santos the closer. He's showing signs of being a mental midget. Santos has been excellent. I'd give him an A for the season. I saw that fastball tonight that everybody told me exists. He's blown what, five saves? That's actually pretty good if he's saved 25 of 'em. Nobody else on our staff could have had that ratio.

The 2012 Rotation
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Sep 6, 2011 -> 09:24 PM) Danks-Peavy-Floyd-Humber-Stewart Sale starting in AAA and on the same rotation as Peavy in case of injury. Why does Sale have to start the season in AAA? We likely won't be playing for anything meaningful in the majors. Let him start up in the bigs.

GT: JFP's Last Stand? Sox @ Twins, 09/06, 7:10 PM
Seems like a long time ago suddenly that we couldn't beat the Twins. Now we're dusting them off every time we play them. Who would have thunk that it doesn't matter a bit. Cause Detroit owns us, now. Weird baseball team, these White Sox. Now that we're two over .500 it's time to lose 4 in a row.

Rios for Rowand?
Rowand was WAY BETTER than anybody we've had in CF since Rowand.

2011 White Sox Catch-All Thread
QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Sep 6, 2011 -> 06:11 PM) Story today I read saying the OF would be CQ-DeAza, Rios and Vicideo . Pierre most likely not re-signed because of age adn his hig dollar demand (They said $8.5M this year?) I think Lilli is the super sub Platooning CQ and DeAza is ridiculous. If Rios is our starting CF I think anybody who buys a season ticket is a fool. Ripoff.

Stewart or Humber?
QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Sep 6, 2011 -> 02:29 PM) It'll be interesting to see what happens if Stewart ends up as productive or better than Hudson. We'd all be very very happy.

... it's about time
QUOTE (Papa Tru @ Sep 6, 2011 -> 07:36 AM) I didn't say he should have a job for life.. and he hasn't just had bad players, hes had a few of THE worst players in baseball.. Great post. The Sox record is miraculously good considering he has Dunn n Rios. But many on here amazingly blame him for Dunn n Rios. Sad.

... it's about time
QUOTE (TheBigHurt @ Sep 6, 2011 -> 04:40 AM) I dunno, must be. There's SOME weird reason the usual few around here still REFUSE to accept the fact that Ozzie's managing is terrible. Nah, managers make no impact on the game at all so it doesn't matter, right? I cringe every time someone makes that argument because it's flat out idiotic. I still challenge anybody on this board to name a CURRENT manager who you think is good. I hear a lot of names for the job. Who currently managing a team could pass your test as actually being "good" to "great." Who is a "good" manager. My guess is you name a guy and you'll get fried on here by anybody who looks into the games as closely as fathom studied the 10 games Ozzie lost us single handedly. I guess the managers of the Bosox and Yankees? They don't count considering they actually have owners with deep pockets and GMs who stockpile rich talent from other teams. Look, there are no good managers in baseball if they are subject to the scrutiny of people on this board.

Walker and Williams Argue
QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 6, 2011 -> 04:42 AM) Seeing greg tell anyone other than a third grader to "think logically" is incredibly insulting. It would be like Ozzie telling someone to speak English better. I hope you handle people who disagree with you better in real life than you do on an anonymous message board. I think it's safe to say not everything you believe is correct regarding the White Sox.

And that's 2 White Sox Winners
That would have been wild had he thrown a perfect game. He almost did. I guess Valencia's hit is symbolic of our season. It woulda been the first day all year the Sox were THE story of baseball (on a positive side; we've been the story on the negative side).

Managerial Prospects for Next Year...
QUOTE (chw42 @ Sep 6, 2011 -> 03:31 AM) Most of the posters here don't care if the manager is dull or controversial, we care if he's good at managing the game. There have been a lot of posts on here blasting Ozzie for his comments. Tons this season; tons of late.

AL teams with similar 33 game starts
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 09:00 PM) A bad start 2 years in a row by different players might also be an indictment of the team's Spring Training and offseason coaching and preparation. I'm sick of the team not knowing how to bunt. I mean it's pretty obvious after the last few years the Sox must not work on bunting at all. I mean why the f*** not? It's sunny down there; there's nothing else to do but drink after playing and practicing baseball. Why cant they work on bunting 2 hours a f***ing day until every non power hitter can at least have an 80 percent chance of putting down a sacrifice bunt instead of looking like Beckham and Lexi do whenever i watch them bunt?? I hope our new manager stresses bunting in ST. And running the bases.

Walker and Williams Argue
Actually 5 isn't bad through the course of a season when you think of how many times a closer trots out there. I know everybody wants the guy to be perfect. What Valverde has done is amazing. Smart of Tigers to not waste that kind of a season.

Managerial Prospects for Next Year...
QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 6, 2011 -> 02:50 AM) Again Greg, who the f*** cares if a manager says something controversial? It's not like the Sox benefit by Ozzie acting stupid in the media. If anything, his attitude to the press sometimes seems to make him more stubborn than he should be with regards to in-game/lineup decisions. That's what I mean. Our uber sensitive soxtalk fans will love the fact our new manager is dull. They are sick of ozzie's quotes which I find so funny and most on here hate.

Walker and Williams Argue
QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 6, 2011 -> 02:56 AM) Greg, I bet last year you would have never predicted that soxtalk posters would be as understanding and forgiving about our closer, Sergio Santos, blowing 5 saves in pretty terrible fashion. Yeah, how many did Bobby blow? But Bob was the devil.

The Return of Adam Dunn, 9/05. 12:05
Yeah I was praising that slider. They were on me for saying he didn't have a great fastball.

Walker and Williams Argue
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Sep 6, 2011 -> 02:51 AM) One who doesn't suck at his job. My point is name the manager. After a month of games, this board will point out beyond a shadow of a doubt he sucks at his job. (Unless we open up 20-10 or some awesome start out of the gate or have a clint hurdle-like first half).

Walker and Williams Argue
QUOTE (SoxAce @ Sep 6, 2011 -> 02:50 AM) Did you even read my post with Tex or are you talking out of your ass again? I rarely even s*** talk you like alot of posters here as you are very entertaining to read as far as post and have a different view from others obviously, but jesus with this. Apparently I misread something. I thought you guys were blasting Gardy.
-
Walker and Williams Argue
QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 6, 2011 -> 02:48 AM) Gardenhire is a good manager that basically had to manage a split-squad lineup every game this season. It's not like he had the option to bench players like Ozzie could have. Ugh. Fathom you are a successful grown man who knows the ways of the world. And you think Ozzie has the option to truly bench $14 mill a year and $12 mill a year which, forgive me if I'm wrong, are what Dunn n Rios are making? Just because of one sentence uttered by KW in the media? That he gave Oz his blessing to bench the 2 megamillionares?

Managerial Prospects for Next Year...
QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 11:42 PM) Please, please explain. "what you mean". This outta be good... What I mean is the guy we get will likely be WORSE than Ozzie. If you are going to sign Tony Freaking Pena, who is horrible, then keep Ozzie. Why in the world is Tony Pena a better candidate than Ozzie? Oops I know why. Cause he won't say anything controversial. Actually he'll be perfect for Soxtalk. Bless Tony, who is a good guy, but you can't understand a word he says cause of the accent. Oz can be bad enough; Pena you can't understand a word on radio/TV. The writers will be able to pick out a few words.

"I hope we don't get swept by the Tigers"
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 08:02 PM) Because it doesn't need to be? Florida is generally cheap anyway, and Ozzie is not exactly going to have a lot of negotiating strength. QUOTE (Tex @ Sep 6, 2011 -> 12:17 AM) You don't think players will start blaming the distractions of Oz as soon as he's gone? You don't think there will be comments about the clubhouse being in turmoil, etc? Or the fighting between Oz and KW and Walker? They will blame Oz for their terrible season. 1.) Florida is beginning the Oz era. Don't they have a new stadium as well? He NEEDS a 4-year deal for the feel good story to be complete. The "we got our man" in Ozzie. We got him! Three year deal won't fool anybody; four year deal and the city is ready to have a parade for its man, Ozzie. It'll be 4 year I predict. 2.) Yes they will! You got it right.

Game 2: The DeathMarch Continues
QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 6, 2011 -> 02:38 AM) Is it really that hard to understand for some of you? Yesterday, we were facing a very, very good lineup with a ton of momentum going. Today, we faced one of the 5 worst teams in baseball with basically a AAA lineup going against Humber/Stewart. Fathom ... you know with the Sox the opponent doesn't matter most of the time. We could have easily dropped 2 more today w/out blinking. I think we're destined to be two under .500. That's what it is.

Walker and Williams Argue
QUOTE (SoxAce @ Sep 6, 2011 -> 01:24 AM) Hey.. Gardenhire has proven that in this division. (ironically he hasn't been very good either this year, though that is a rarity for him) I agree with you about the second part however. See ... Gardy is no good. Ozzie is no good. All managers suck. Soxtalk won't ever be happy with the skipper. How the hell could it be?? Think logically. Do you guys honestly believe in 2011, in a day and age of all these advanced stats that you guys are going to be happy with ANY manager? Gardy stinks. We know Leland stinks after the past years with their high payroll. They all stink. What manager is going to pass the Soxtalk test after a month????? You tell me. I say with utter confidence NONE
