  1. No boos. I don't blame the fans. Takes too much energy to boo Rios like he deserves to be booed. Soft ground out to short.
  2. Sox should auction off one item that would guarantee a lot of bidders Give a fan the authority to cut Dunn and Rios. Somebody would pay a lotta cash for the right to cut both.
  3. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Aug 21, 2011 -> 12:56 AM) even i would have a chance on a hanging change like that one. It's like it was set up on a tee for him. Amazing how Dunn never gets a hold of a ball like Kinsler has done twice tonight.
  4. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Aug 21, 2011 -> 12:42 AM) not to sound all delusional, but with the way they responded after getting spanked by the yankees I wouldn't put it past them to put together another 8-2 stretch. That's been the Sox rallying cry all year. Sox are damn lucky they are in this division. As bad as the team has been, attendance would have been god awful from May on if we were in the East.
  5. QUOTE (JoshPR @ Aug 21, 2011 -> 12:32 AM) Nice piece of hitting from lexi That was nice. Dunn with the epic fail again. You can't beat a team like the Rangers leaving runners on base early like that. FAIL.
  6. Predictable at bat with men on first and third. Lexi not much of a chance this at bat IMO. I can't imagine anybody buying a season ticket for next season with Rios and Dunn on the team. How can you justify paying those prices? Nice hit by Lexi. I love those kinda hits.
  7. QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 21, 2011 -> 12:28 AM) Hawk didn't say anything about the booing. Charlotte is the 1st inning. We'll see if they pinch hit for Viciedo. Thanks flava flave. I'm at work and can't turn up the sound til one guy leaves for dinn. He needs to concentrate.
  8. Paulie is so damn good and pretty much the rest of our hitters so bad. How the hell is he this good year after year? I wonder if Detroit will do better in the playoffs than Minnie does every year?
  9. QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 21, 2011 -> 12:19 AM) Gotta say...booing Rios upon entering the game is pretty tasteless. Wow. That is crazy stuff. Shows the state of our franchise. Pathetic baseball team. What did Hawk n Stoney say?
  10. You'd think if it didn't pop out of place he could keep playing. They should just take his jersey off and see if the shoulder is in place.
  11. Looks like Viciedo will be called up for tomorrow if Quentin just f***ed up his shoulder.
  12. I give our fans credit. How can anybody pay to see this s***? There are plenty of minor league games in the area to go see like Kane County Kougars, etc. The fans know our track record at home. How can they pay that parking and ticket costs? I'd go if I lived in chicago, but like milkman, ONLY if I had free tix and parking. I'd pay for food.
  13. QUOTE (Tex @ Aug 20, 2011 -> 01:55 PM) I find it interesting that we talk about how long Mark wants to pitch. One of the things I love about the guy is he always seems like he is having fun. Yeah, they stopped the tarp sliding, but I believe he will want to pitch as long as he is able. I am not that concerned about his desire, despite some of his comments. I attribute those comments to mean he has a pretty good grasp on life. Agreed about his grasp on life. He seems to get it. I love his approach to pitching as well. He works so fast even if his stuff is not so good on a given night he'll still work fast.
  14. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 20, 2011 -> 04:54 PM) Do people really believe Greg Walker re-tools everyone's swing once they become White Sox? I will admit if he does he shouldn't be the hitting coach. If he has the abiility to make successful people who make millions doing things their way unsuccessful by listening to him, he has a far more important calling than that of a hitting coach. I really think the problem is the basic fan has Little League playing experience and thinks a major league hitting coach teaches a professional making 20 times the cabbage he's making how to hit. George Brett lived and died with his hitting coach, Charlie Lau. He did everything Lau told him to do. Brett was on the radio recently saying Walker does a lot of the things Lau did. I don't know if Dick is right here, but he had 2 great posts. I also heard a discussion on the radio that in the non steroid era, get used to s***ty hitting. They were talking about how Francour actually now is an above average hitter and was worth signing for 6.5 mill a year cause of the new standards.
  15. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Aug 20, 2011 -> 04:41 AM) Is it okay to think Stewart might turn into a pretty darn good pitcher? I don't want to offend anybody. Yes. Except he'll only have a good half year next year before having White Sox disease and suddenly can't pitch more than five innings effectively until he builds arm strength.
  16. QUOTE (whtsoxfan @ Aug 20, 2011 -> 02:54 PM) Jake, Jake, Jake....... Enough said. Jake Peavy looked great for 3-2/3, then he imploded. He had a no hitter, thru 3-2/3. Then he gave up a 2 out base hit to Michael Young. A double to Nelson Cruz followed. Next, Jake gave up a walk and then a game changing 3 run homer to Mitch Moreland. Suddenly a 3-0 White Sox lead, became a 4-3 Texas lead. On the night, he gave up 3 homers (2 homers to Moreland) and 7 runs in 6 IP. The Rangers were able to score 7, on Jake, w just 6 hits.....thanks to the home runs. Final Score: Texas 7, White Sox 4. Ouch. Jake has the highest ERA of any White Sox starter. We've heard the excuses, he's coming off INJURY. His arm strength isn't up to par. But, if you go back and view his season log, his best performances were in May, right after he came back, from INJURY. He did have ONE, stellar, 8 inning, outing vs. the Twins, on Aug 7th. But, for the most part, since June, his starts have been 6 innings or less. Jake Peavy, Alex Rios and Adam Dunn........3 big contracts................3 big UNDERperformors. Could the 3 underperformers, be the big reason why the White Sox can only play .500 baseball???.......it SURE LOOKS THAT WAY! QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 20, 2011 -> 06:46 PM) Pierre, De Aza, Konerko, Quentin, Ramirez, Dunn, Flowers, Morel, Beckham 1.) Peavy and Humber both look like long relievers right now. So our rotation is suddenly blah. 2.) That's about as good a lineup as we can put out there now with our current personnel. Dunn should be lower, but Flowers had four Ks last night, Beckham is ridiculously bad and Morel can't hit or draw a walk, either. No way this is a playoff team. If we were in the East our crowds would have been 15,000 the whole second half. 3.) Can you believe we are about to lose 5 of 6 at home again?? Truly amazing. No way in hell we will beat Texas at this stage of the season.
  17. It really sucks to have so much negativity in a baseball team. I can't believe we're just 2-3 under .500. To me it seems like we're Royals-bad, like 19-20 under. Really has been a depressing season to me at least.
  18. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 15, 2011 -> 03:20 PM) Adam Dunn is looking at the worst batting average in history. He's single handedly ruined our season. Can't win a division with that horrid of a hitting DH.
  19. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Aug 20, 2011 -> 03:59 AM) Ugh. I absolutely loathe Juan Pierre. I don't even want to consider him returning. QUOTE (oldsox @ Aug 20, 2011 -> 05:27 AM) Playoffs?? PLAYOFFS???? 1.) He won't be back. 2.) Does anybody think our playoff chances are better than 10/90 at this point?
  20. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Aug 20, 2011 -> 05:38 AM) After tonight, I'm convinced Chairman Reinsdorf will make the right decisions this offseason. The Sox have so many built in advantages over most teams in MLB that it won't take long to get better. We need to sign free agents, but can't sign any more to more than 2 year deals. Peavy/Rios/Dunn are killers to an organization; all horrible wastes of money. We're not going to win with homegrown talent. Are gonna have to sign Francour types and hope they click.
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 20, 2011 -> 03:05 AM) Pretty ironic that the 2005 World Series contestants might be the two worst organizations in baseball right now with their long term outlook. That is a great point. Our future looks horrid right now. Thing is, though, we can turn it around by doing what the Yankees do. Acquire free agents. It's our only hope.
  22. LOL at how overmatched the Sox are against good teams at home this year. What a s***ty baseball team.
  23. Who is Josh Kinney and is he any good?
  24. QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Aug 19, 2011 -> 07:34 PM) I just heard on the Score that the White Sox team batting average is like .215 with the bases loaded, whereas league average is .277. The overall team BA is .254. That's a terrible indictment of approach, and imo, of Walker. I blame our lousy hitters but I do agree with those who say the only defense of walker is that hitting coaches do not matter. And the fact he works hard at his job.
  25. QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Aug 19, 2011 -> 08:12 AM) I'm perfectly ok with Kenny going as well. I don't mind if he stays either. Ozzie has to go though. Ozzie will go cause in best case scenario Sox would offer him one more year or something. Florida will give him a multi year deal and act as if they want him, which understandably, they do. Kenny better be shown the door as well. His team blows and outlook for the future is as bad as this year or worse.
